"For example, the local legend and A rank monster hunter, Leardio. A close affinity to air and has a few air-related skills, but his most impressive aspect is his talent. He can turn any metal he touches into magnets. We are still unsure of how strong his magnets can be, they vary with each metal, but he can use them masterfully by chucking magnets at people and monsters to hold them down. His talents are traps, and his magnets work like any other magnets, they stay around like magnets and don't disappear even after he cancels his skill. Very incredible indeed. He even learned a few skills for trapping and metalwork to really lean in on his magnets.
Another famous hero from history is Kajer. An affinity to fire and skills mainly for speed and hiding. He held the talent to mold any inanimate object into any other shape with a simple touch. He could mold a corpse into a sword in a second. Each individual piece that he molds aren't that complex as you would need serious mental abilities in order to do that, but he could make fifty pieces and put them together to make a cannon.
The stronger the material he molded with, the stronger his outcome. His works weren't anything like masterworks, which properly use heat and magic to hone a sword to its finest, but they worked. In fact, many of his creations are still around. There was once a fight where he turned about 100 leaves into blades, making a trap so that the weight disconnected them at the perfect time and killed a massive, city threatening sand snake."
"Cool." this entire time the robot had been displaying videos and photos from the people it had been talking about. Leardio was standing on a black, shiny floor, surrounded by revolving pieces of metal that he seemed to be holding up. he picked up a few and collected them together to form a makeshift barrel while another small ball of black metal went into the barrel. When he released his magic on the one in the barrel, it shot out and destroyed a nearby rock. The robot had no videos on Kajer, but it had many photos of his strange creations.
He had leaf-like blades littering the ground and a sword made out of a twisted human.
"Well, I'll need to get you your badge. Step through the portal once more and we shall go back for me to get you the stuff."
They stepped through the portal once more, he watched the starry night and realized that there seemed to be a suction feeling on his entire body from all around as he was teleported.
He was handed a small leather rectangle. He could open it up and it revealed a silver badge that said ZEETH TIER C5 MONSTER HUNTER. Julorus then pulled out a small tab from a massive cube that looked just like his small purple plate, but bigger. He then stuck the small tab into one of the corners of Zeeths purple slab, waited a few seconds, and pulled it back out.
"Good. Your hunter license should also be saved to your screen. Don't lose it."
"Okay, thank you." Zeeth put everything into his slime suit, which was now looking cramped and messier than ever, and walked out. 'I should organize my things soon.'
Went he went out of the back door Elma greeted him politely and let him out. As he was walking out, a group of young women wearing long black robes and soft black boots.
"Hey, Elma. were here to pick up our girl scout items."
"Oh, sure. They're right in this box, let me get it."
"Are you sure you can lift it? It's about 15 large killer crossbows. It might be a bit heavy."
He walked out, a bit wary of the girls and their large killer crossbows. When he got out a woman wearing nothing but a skirt and a revealing bikini stood waiting for someone. As he walked by he accidentally bumped into her and she dropped her bag, spilling out some makeup items and a pen.
Zeeth bent down and began picking up her things and said, "Oh, sorry! Here, let me get these for you."
"Oh, no, it's alright! I should've been watching where I was standing!" she bent down to pick up a few things. As they both reached for her pen, her hand touched his and she quickly pulled back, blushing a little. "Sorry."
"Oh, it's fine." Zeeth had no clue what she was sorry about, but seeing her blush made his heart jump a little.
They got all of her things and they bent up to talk. "Hey, are you busy right now? I was waiting for someone, but I've been waiting for a really long time. I think he stood me up."
"Oh, I'm almost done with my errands. Just got one more place to go to."
"Oh alright. Um, d-do you want to meet me sometime later? To get something to drink? Oh, I heard there was a little challenge going on somewhere, maybe we could meet there later today? Oh, sorry if I'm being a little too pushy." she looked down at her arm as got quieter as she said, "I've just been alone for a while now."
"Oh, don't worry, I don't mind. I'm new here, so I would love to look around sometime. Could you give me the address and I'll go there later, maybe at 5?" Zeeth noticed how sad she got and wanted to help so he tried to cheer her up.
The woman jumped happily and said, "Sure, that sounds great! Meet you here at 5, promise, okay?"
"Okay, promise." she took his arm, put a piece of paper that she tore from a notebook, and began writing an address. She grasped his arm tightly and said, "wow, you're pretty muscular."
"Oh, ah thanks." she put one last dot on the paper with a grand swing, put the pen away, and winked at him as she walked away.
He turned the other direction, trying to find the address on the map as he made his way to the last destination. It wasn't too far from it, just a few blocks.
She rounded the corner as soon as she knew she was out of his sight, ran back to the side of the building, and said to the man covered by the shadows, "give me my money. I got him there for you."
"Hold on. We're still not sure if he will go there yet. You will get half first. The other half when we confirm he's there."
He threw her a card. She clicked it and it showed (10 styrs).
"Alright, fine. But I'm not taking any crap from you guys, don't you dare try to run after beating him up."
Zeeth made his way to an aptitude testing area, unaware of the conversation going on. The testing area checked what chances he had of awakening a talent and how great his abilities could be.
He sat in a chair where his chest, head, and wrists were connected to a large, square machine. The machine clicked a few times and his results came in.
His chance of awakening a Talent was at .13%, one of the lowest ever seen. And his potential for his abilities wasn't much better, at a measly 1.7%. These were easily one of the lowest they had ever seen and no one even gave him a second glance. His information was uploaded to his screen and he walked out feeling worse than ever.
'.13%.... What is this? And how is my potential that low? Can I not grow anymore?'
But then he remembered his strange "date" with the girl and forgot about it all. It wasn't that he wasn't happy, he was really happy that another person, especially a girl that good looking, was paying attention to him.
But it was strange. She said she should've looked where she was standing and that she had been there for a really long time, but those dangerous-looking Girl Scouts just walked in. She must've had to move to dodge them, so she would have to move back into place right in front of the door.
Definitely suspicious. Besides, the address that she gave him was somewhere that seemed really deserted. It was even further on the list of skiers than the hunter registration area. He decided to walk in with caution, but still, check it out. What if she just wanted to hang out with him? Unlikely, but maybe possible. And he didn't want to not take the opportunity if there was one.
The figure in the shadows walked out and said to someone else, "Heh, finally met another naive idiot. Tell the other men we bagged another one. How can people be so dumb? Whatever, that just means more money for us, kakakakaka!" As the man with a scar under his eye laughed with stereotypical laughter but in his really deep voice, which sounded really weird and sent shivers down his subordinates' back, Zeeth was walking to the alleyway the woman mentioned.
