'Oh right, I wanna try something.' Zeeth stomped the ground near a wall of gems and the force did exactly as he had hoped, the wall lit up from the force. He also clapped his hands in front of the wall and a much smaller circle of light also lit up from the wall. 'Yes! It works! So the wall lights up with impact or sound.'
He kept hitting near the wall, making it light up for flashes at a time. He realized from the impacts that the beetle had brought him to a new section of the maze, now the wall was a mixture of yellow and purple gems.
"Test subject 24 has figured out the light gems after 17 hours, the same time that he has entered the yellow gem section."
"He hasn't shown any sign of tiredness after 24 hours."
"He has entered the blue gem section after 36 hours."
Spending hour after hour trying to do escape this maze that he was suddenly thrown into without explanation was maddening. He was furious that he didn't even know the face of the man he wanted to pummel. He tried many times to punch the wall, but he was cautious about it and didn't try to punch too hard because of all the gems. The many times that he did punch it, all that happened were his fists turning a bit red and the walls seemed to be staying as strong as ever.
"Test subject 24 has punched the wall again, causing massive cracking within the walls. He seems to be holding back, his current highest measured strength is 558."
Zeeth made sure to hold Gul near the wall so that it could absorb as much magic as possible and grow as much as possible. To think this all started just because they wanted to get some kind of heat resistance. He swore that when he found out who it was, he would punch the living daylights out of him or put them through a similar situation.
He kept running while stomping his feet. Within the hours that Gul had grown the gems, it had started growing more and a different variety. There were about five small purple gems around its head, two flatter yellow gems, and one small blue gem that had begun to form. With a bit of control, Zeeth could have it merge some of the gems together and shoot it out. He merged a yellow and blue gem together, condensing it onto one, harder green gem, and shot it at a wall, hoping to break it. All it did was get lodged in between some gems and light up a small circle of yellow, blue, and purple gems. He turned away, already knowing that the wall would just stand strong like it always did.
"Test subject 24 has attacked another wall with a flying gem. Repairing the seventh wall he has hit, the damage is about 774."
He hadn't combined all three yet because of how hard it was, but he finally sat down and decided to try it out. 'Combine purple and yellow. And then add in some blue... Crap, it failed. Let's try blue and purple, and then yellow… dammit it broke again.' he tried five times, using different combinations before figuring out how to merge all three at the same time, but it was so unstable that it fired out of Gul the moment it was created and pierced straight through a wall of gems, creating a massive crack like a glow around the broken hole.
"Test subject 24 has broken a wall of gems after 37 hours using a piercing gem. Damage is about 1123. Repairing the wall."
Zeeth stared at the wall for a bit, he thought the wall was indestructible. But this hole completely changes his thought process, he didn't need to walk the maze, he could just destroy the walls in a straight line. Before the wall finished repairing, he fired a bunch of gems rapid fire at the cracks that the first gem created and made a large hole. Gul seemed to be absorbing the mana from the gems and never got tired from using gems magic. Zeeth walked through the hole and began combining another three gems and aiming Gul at the wall like he was holding a pillow. The three gems were created and shot out of Gul, creating a loud cracking sound as another hole of gems was created and a few pieces fell to the ground. He combined another three, this time much faster than before having already done this twice before, and fired another shot to the left. The cracks from the two attacks connected and made a large hole for him to walk through, a path brightly lit all around by the gems that had broken off and fallen in front of him.
C.M. clenched his fists and said into his recorder, "Test subject 24 is blasting holes through the gem wall, attacks consistently above 1000. He has destroyed 5 walls and has exited the gems wall area, entering the grey wall area."
He spent another few more minutes breaking walls and arrived at a much stranger area. The floor started getting bumpy, the walls also became less and less gem and more grey stone. The stone didn't light up, but they radiated a far stronger wave of mana. The walls became less spiky, but there were still bumps all over the wall that connected with each other smoothly, like a bunch of small hills.
He tried to shoot another condensed gem at it, but the gem just bounced off the wall. The previous wall was hard to punch because of all the sharp pieces, but it was far brittler because it was made up of different gems pierced together, so there were many weak parts of the wall that easily cracked with a sharp, piercing force. But this wall was all one, something that is seamlessly connected with each other, no parts were too thin or easy to break apart from the rest. He kept shooting the, but the gems merely bounced off with just a dent that seemed to disappear under the darkness, with the only source of light now being Gul.
He turned around and took a few gems from the floor, stuck them un Gul and kept flicking them every now and then to light them back up again.
"Hey, can anyone hear me? Heeeeey!! How long is this thing? Is this going to be over soon? What do you want me to do here?" out of boredom, Zeeth began yelling around, listening to his echoes resound off the walls, thinking that perhaps the person who had trapped him here might be listening, "hey, I just want a general understanding, how much more is there to cover? How much did I cover already? Heeey, answer me. Why am I here? For amusement? Is this really fun to watch? Hey, just curious but how many people are enjoying this show right now? Shouldn't I get something for being the star? I didn't even consent to this."
he began rambling on with questions in hopes of annoying the person watching so much to just let him go, but even after several minutes of constant yelling and asking annoying questions, there wasn't a peep from anyone else other than his own echoes.
He stopped asking questions and began to focus on thinking about the maze. There has to be an easier way out of here, there has to be some kind of trick or something. Should he try to remember where the beetle and the bull had come from and gone to? But he wasn't even at the place where he first heard them, that wouldn't be really useful.
He sat down by one of the corners and studied Gul more, trying to imagine what his life was like in the past. He wanted to finish that memory where they had been robbed so badly, he wanted to know what happened. What if they caught him and killed his mom? What if he saved them all and stabbed their feet?
The thought that he perhaps saved his mom made him jump back up, filled with determination, and ready to get out of this maze once again.
After nearly a day and a half, Page had finally fully uncovered the entire circle and was about a quarter of the way done with deciphering it. Once he did that, he could figure out where Zeeth was sent and even teleport himself thereby reactivating the circle if it was safe to go there.
All of Zeeths slime had more or less gotten used to the heat. Mag had even gone all the way to the second house to get himself more accustomed to the heat, finding this form of training very fun. All the other 98 slimes crowded around Page, careful not to mess up his work but also very curious about how they could help since they really wanted to see Zeeth soon.
