Reverie II

"Oh, I'm somewhere around that too," he said

"You won't tell me? Don't tell me! Do you have a low level?" she said teasingly. "Son, I will love you even if you do!"

"Haha, mom it's not like that. Wouldn't it sound weird for you to brag about it? I can do it later."

"Haha, alright son. Make sure to eat your apples," she said, her voice filled with glee as she walked away.

And with that, he put on the helmet and held the remote in his hands. The helmet, which he now remembered as a headset for gaming, turned on and he was suddenly in another world. He held a sword in one hand and a bow in the other. Checking the leaderboards, he saw the name 'God Destroyer' in the first place followed by a series of names he didn't care to look at. Next to it was his own character screen. He had the stats:

Level:264 (Magic Elf Warrior)

Five Senses: 651 Strength: 566 Intelligence: 551 Stamina: 521 Movement Speed: 510 Attack Speed: 258 Holiness: 411

And in his inventory were things like "Blihtzark's Full Set" and "The bow of Grifix". They all glowed, coincidently, like how enchanted items glowed here in this world. He had a shield that reminded him a little bit of the blue shield they were just fighting for. It was a dark red, like blood, and a splatter of what looked like silver paint constantly oozed from the bottom. He clicked on it and the description said, "Blihtzark's Shield. Stolen from the Elves of Blihtzark, it now infinitely drips with the blood of the (138) elves you have slaughtered to obtain it. It will forever hate and curse the owner who uses it for having been taken from its original place, the direct descendants of Blihtzark.

-Half your health and strength will be taken when using this shield.

-A 2-second paralysis will strike every time you lose health.

-All negative effects are negated from having obtained the full set and are now directed at the enemy instead."

Looking around, he saw that his own name was God Destroyer and a sense of pride flitted through his heart as boredom settled once again, sad that it wasn't hard enough to make it fun. He hadn't even played for a year and he was already the best in the game. He hated how easy this stuff was, he wanted a challenge for once and his current self remembered his conversation with Black about how he wanted the easy life. Perhaps he was wrong, a challenge did seem rather exciting at the moment.

He exited the screen and was facing a large field of slimes. They were different from his slimes, they were all green and they were a lot smaller. They tried to attack him, but just jumping on his thorny armor killed them, and nothing they did hurt him. Clicking a button, his suit of armor floated into the sky and he flew away, into the sky and towards the belly of a flying dragon. This one was also vastly different from the dragons in his world, they now looked so much less realistic. Their flat wings and straight flying was too unrealistic now that he had seen a real one in action.

He pushed his red and black sword into his blue and silver bow and released it. A few notifications popped up: 'Successfully Achieved Personalized Attack: Attack 4' 'Double Damage Dealt!'

He remembered the sword like an arrow attack as something he made. When he surpassed level 250, he could make a few of his own skills and this was one of them. The sword flew through the sky and quickly into the dragon, ripping through its stomach and killing it.

The dragon disintegrated and next to him, a small screen told him 'Easter Egg Found: One Shotting a Devil Dragon' '6,666 experience gained!' '15 Dragon scales gained' '10 Dragon Bones gained!'

And although he had gained 6,666 experience points, something he knew was shockingly impressive for others, his level bar barely went up. Out of boredom, he took off the headset again and set it down to eat his apples. Nothing in the game was hard enough for him, his desire to find something challenging was never met.

And he was shot back to reality, where Page was still running back to him. For the first second, everything was grey and in super slow motion, but everything snapped back to reality as he recognized where he was.

'Games. I wish to play another game.' he thought to himself.

'Games?' Black asked. 'What games could be more fun than battle?'

'There were these things that I used to play, they were video games that used to have their own unique items, and show status screens about my character, telling me specific things about its strengths. The most fun part about it was leveling up and getting stronger.' he said, fondly thinking of those memories.

'Status screens? About your character? I don't know what you used to see, but do you mean something like this?' and a few numbers floated around, swirling into place, and became a single number, 16,235.

'What is this?'

'It is my personal gauge for how strong you are. This number is based on the people I used to see, you are actually far above average. But the power that you let on, hiding your slimes, me, and some of your fighting skills, I think I will put your current usable power to 5,960. Just a tad below average, which is making me question the power levels of people now. Perhaps you have only met weaker enemies, Karkov may have been your strongest human opponent, at 7630 at his height of power.'

'What are you?'

'It changes across my hosts, my highest is about 100,000 and my current level would be only 2890, being stationary and my only attack being from an eye that takes a while to conjure.'

'I had no clue you could do this, this is cool.'

'I put as much analysis magic in my own body as possible during the height of my powers and etched it into my eyes to allow me to constantly track others' powers so I am able to use it on you fairly. Do you know how much black magic there is in you?'

'So would you be able to split the numbers a bit? Maybe one will be my strength, one will be my agility, and so on. This is all really hard to keep track of.'

'Yes, I have thought of doing this before, but at the time, I'd rather spend my time doing more productive things than decoding such stuff. But now that I sit immobile in your body, I suppose I have plenty of time now. Just remember, not all of these are accurate. I simply use the culmination of all my past experiences and knowledge of bodies to predict how strong someone might be on a scale that I created. While skills do change the human body in the slightest way that normal people can't conceive and I do notice, it does not mean I see all.'

'Sounds like you're bragging.'

'Well, it is just thousands of years of muscle and anatomy studying based on the millions, perhaps billions of people I have met and fought, you're damn right I'm bragging. My greatest creation, no one I have met has been able to produce anything similar to what I have and you get to experience it all right here.'

'Thank you, Lord Black.'

'Ah, yes. I remember the time when the name was spoken with reverence. Now it is used as a joke by my host.'

"Zeeth, we won." Page cried.

The conversation ended as Page got to him, holding the shield. Dwarves were blasting people back as they fired back arrows, but since the Dwarves were in their home base with cannons and larger weapons and the human weapons were measly toys compared to theirs, they were easily pushed back without the shield.

Several people fled, yelling about stink juice and bombs but the majority of them were caught, including their ringleader, the man who had the shield.

Looking up at Zeeth, his eyes widened in shock as he muttered, "Ze...Zeeth? A-and you're Page, then?"

"What? Why do you know those names?" Page asked.

"You-you two were the ones that stopped the Tentacon attack! And then you prevented some Chaos Dragon from getting further and scared it away! I-I had no clue it was you two. Um, do you think I could get an autograph?"

"What? You were just talking about killing us."

But the dwarves were also muttering, and he heard a few words, "Zeeth?" and "really him?"

"That fits the description, and Page too!"

"So was Gror the unnamed Dwarf? Who knew it was our Dwarf who scared away a dragon!"

"Gror!" Drawk roared, "Is this true?! You were the Dwarf accompanying these two with the merchants when the dragon was scared away?"
