Disgust

As I slowly made my way through the ventilation shaft, I felt the transmitter vibrate and heard a obnoxiously loud ping. Pausing, I bring the transmitter up to examine it, on the screen was a map of vessel I was on with makers that indicated when I should turn and my current location. Snorting, I feel my lips slightly curve, feeling as if this was all a game to whomever sent me the intel. Keeping the screen within eyesight without blinding me with the light or impairing my natural night vision I trudge forward, coming up to another entrance that was closed. Looking through I felt waves of disgust pulse through me as I looked on the scene that was before me.

The room that I looked at appeared to be a shower/locker room, but it the walls were encased in a fleshy web, and I saw creatures laying down or aimlessly moving about. One appeared to have been human before, dragging its entrails behind it as it moved on all fours like a canine. The only reason I know it was human was the head of this abomination, though misshapen as it was, there was no bottom jaw thus the tongue hung loosely, the nose was ripped off yet hung in front of mouth. Its back was arched with the spinal cord showing through the lack of skin, with barbs on each ligament. Another that was laying down had the hands of a human but no flesh coving the body, instead it appeared to have carapace of a beetle, complete with translucent wings that would show on occasion, it did have six limbs, but the face of this thing was obscured due to its position. The last thing I saw before I moved on was a large 'worm' that came from the open door, this thing was fleshy and what appeared to be fresh blood continuously fell from its body, along with chunks of meat. It moved its 'head' back and forth as though it was looking for something. Suddenly a slit opened on top of its head and what appeared to be hundred of human eyes were looking all around, until one eye spotted the sleeping creature, then all of the eyes seemed to lock on to it. Then it opened its maw and proceeded to eat the sleeping creature, all I heard as I quickly moved away was what sounded like a child screaming in pain as the creature was eaten. This was the first time I felt true fear after waking up. And it felt like a cold clump in the very essence of my soul.

As I continued pushing my way forward, I resisted the urge to look through any more openings. And I followed the path that was set before me in my transmitter. Everything was going fine until I hit a blockade. I double checked the transmitter, and this was right blocking my way into my final destination. Not wanting to make any noise I check the transmitter to see if there was a way for me to reach out to the individual who had contacted me before. There was nothing I could do on my end, so I decided to knock on the blockade.

Day 40 Time: 0342 Year: 2560

Dr. Valencia was deep in thought when she heard a knock on the barricade, she put on the ventilation door that her colleague had put on there before he left to find resources. That was hours ago, sighing she checked her monitor to see the location of Subject 13, and was shocked to find that it was at the blockade. The reason she was shocked was because it should of taken at least three hours to reach her from his cryo room, yet only 45 minutes had passed. Picking up the plasma pistol from the desk she aimed it at the blockade and pressed the release for it.

Day 1 Time: Unknown Year: Unknown

Sighing with relief as the hatch opened, I slowly poked my head out to see a young woman with what looked like a toy gun aimed at me. Raising my eyebrow, I move back into the shaft to reposition myself so that I could leave feet first. As I fully extended my legs, I heard my knees pop from being in a bent position for so long. After getting some feeling back in my legs I proceed to stretch, and all I heard was my bones cracking and popping. Feeling a bit better I look at the woman I front of me who still has the toy gun aimed at me, as if it would do any damage. I open my mouth to speak, only to find that my throat was dry. Looking around I found some paper and a pen of sorts, I quickly wrote down one word.

"Drink?"

This time the woman looked at me as if I had grown another head, but after what I had seen I did seem plausible if whatever I saw was transmitted through the air. This time I motioned with my hands as if I was drinking something and pointed to my throat. Only then did she figure out was I was implying.

"Follow me, sorry forgot that cryo tends to leave its occupants overly dry in the throat and thirsty." She stated as she started to leave, putting her toy gun in her pocket. Smiling to myself I follow; she took me to a bathroom and turned on the faucet. She gestured at the water that was running through, in which I remembered the scene that I had saw and gave her a disgruntled look.

"Don't worry, you wont turn into on of them by drinking the water, can only be passed through fluid swap, you know saliva to blood and vice versa. And it can't survive in water." She stated proudly. Looking at her dubiously I cup my hands under the faucet and drink the water. It felt as if my throat was a barren wasteland that just got a bountiful of rain and was now a fertile field.

"Ok…now… can.. you… tell… me… what… in… the… ever… lasting… f*ck… happened… here…" I forced out, still not used to my voice. This woman smiled at me, and if under other circumstances I could have been turned on by that smile but right now the only thing I felt was dread.

"Absolutely, Subject 13, we do have a lot to go over before you can begin your job anyways."
