Noah's words had been ringing in Rachel's ears since the previous day. No matter how much she thought about it, something didn't seem right. The words sounded exactly like the words she had said to Jared on that night of Aunt Christine's birthday party. 

When Jared had been insisting that she liked Noah, she had said, "I don't like Noah that way. He is just my brother's friend and my housemate. If I had the chance, I'd live separately from him and my brother too. So stop asking silly questi—" She stopped talking when she felt like a belch was going to escape her mouth, but thankfully, she didn't.
