Just like he said he would, Max came knocking on Nancy's door to pick her up. Her Mom went to answer the door and quickly invited Max inside to wait for her daughter. Nancy came into the kitchen, happy that Max kept his word and came to pick her up, but then a bit nervous thinking how this would be the first time in, like forever, that she walks to school with a friend.
While talking with Nancy's Mom, Max listened with a smile on his face, only to brighten more when Nancy walked in. 'She looks good in anything he thought.' Nancy dressed modestly, wearing her hair in a sided braid, a blouse tucked into her skinny jeans, no makeup, and her earrings were simple and tennis shoes. After eating, Max and Nancy headed on out to school.

Max asked Nancy what electives she has. She explained Spanish and Dance, Max also said he has dance and explained that he had also taken Spanish, so he could help out whenever she needed, she said thanks. (not paying much attention to the fact that a boy also took dance, meaning it's a coed Dance class.) When they arrived at school, Max guided Nancy to the main office and said that he can take her home after school if she did not mind. Nancy agreed before walking into the office. Of course the first day of school, even the first week is crazy, since everyone is trying to get their schedules and find the locations of their new classes.
Nancy just waited patiently, until she was called. She received her schedule, locker number, and was told that if she had any questions she could always seek out her guidance counselor. With that, she went to her first class which was Math. Like always, she stood out. Everyone was already in their third year of high school, they already had their group of friends, so there was a lot of commotion when the students in class noticed a 'fresh face'.
Some girls went straight over to Nancy asking her the usual questions, "Where are you from? What's your name? etc.", while others just looked over. The guys were mainly talking about how she looked as well as how the other girls looked as well as sports. When the teacher came in everyone went to their seat, the bell rang and the class began. Throughout the day Nancy would answer the questions her classmates asked and refused any invitations to hang out afterward, remembering that it is best not to get to close with anyone. And that is how the first day of school went.

Nancy was glad her electives were split, meaning she would have at least one fun class a day. Yes, she enjoys learning a new language, especially since she can pick up where she left off from her previous school. She met up with Max, who was with some of his friends. It was a mix of guys and girls. They were talking about hanging out and reviewing their schedules.
Max introduced his friends to Nancy, some whistled, nudging Max saying how he found himself a little, cutie over the summer. They were all laughing about it when Max asked Nancy if she wouldn't mind hanging out with them or if she wanted to go straight home? (He remembered how a guy tried to hurt her when she was dressed as a guy, now dressed as a girl he was even more worried, although one would think she is a "country bumpkin=homely shy, nerdy girl, Max didn't. She was eye-catching no matter what she wore, including her tomboyish look, he smiled at that.)
Nancy declined yet another invitation to hang out, waved goodbye, and was walking away when she heard Max say goodbye to his friends; so he could walk with her. She looked up and said he didn't need to walk her home, but he said, "I can not let my cute little Junior walk home alone, now could I?" in a teasing manner. Although it was true, he thought she was pretty and it was cute how she only reached to his mid-chest, remembering how she bumped into him on their very first interaction.

As he was walking her home, they discussed their schedules and Max was overjoyed that they had dance class together. Nancy, on the other hand, was a bit nervous and he noticed how she got quiet instead of excited for a chance for them to be together during school. Puzzled he asked her, what was wrong and she explained that she could dance the tango, to the merengue to freestyle, but revealed she has only danced with her Mom or by herself; thinking of having to dance with another person, especially a boy, made her a bit nervous. She shyly admitted that she might not be good at following someone else's lead.
Max looked at her and thought a moment before suggesting they go to his house before going to hers. Nancy looked up at him, they both stopped walking at this point and Nancy asked him why, before refusing like she usually does, which made him slightly happy. He explained that they have an empty room at his house that they could use to dance in. Seeing Nancy hesitate, he quickly took her hand and began running with her to his place, not allowing her to refuse.
