When Shu Ya said those words her grandparents patted her head. ''We know. Just sometimes it would be nice to escape them.''
Shu Ya winked at them and whispered. ''Come to me when you can. Uncle Bai Fu promised to teach me horse riding.''
Her grandparents patted her head. ''Better not. Those people might start coming to you and bothering you. That would be the worst thing that could happen. We need to stop Bai Fu from getting involved. At least for now. It seems that the child will want to split form family as well. If he does that he can openly come to you. But for now, he should back off as people might attack him and you. You can still learn horse riding in spring. Now is anyway not the time to do so.''
While the two people argued and she spoke to the two Elders, his servant came back with the document.
Bai Qiao just ignored his wife's curses and went with the whole bunch of papers and the contract to Shu Ya. ''It's finished. I will erase you from the family book now. Any other words to say?''
Shu Ya stood up and one more time held the grandparent's hands. Then she sighed and turned to him. ''I have not. I will leave now. I wish Bai family longevity, prosperity and respect you deserve.''
''Thank you. You may leave now.'' He pointed at the door and Mingy quickly came and took the stuff from her hands. He bowed deeply towards the Elders and then wordlessly followed Shu Ya that bowed only to her grandparents and Bai Qiao.
As soon she left everyone sighed in relief and started leaving. The Elders left first and as one by one left only he was left completely alone in the main room. Even his wife left back to their rooms in anger.
He sighed. ''Zhenzhen, for now, this is the only way for her to be protected. Who knows what will happen to us. If the Emperor chose to eradicate our family completely she will be at least safe. But if one day we again can go back, I will have the power to protect her better. For now, I did good, haven't I?"
Shu Ya opened her window so light could come in as the night slowly approached and wanted to read the papers but Mingyu appeared near her window. ''Miss, Mingli is waiting for you at the estate. He will explain to you those papers. No need to harm your eyes while trying to read them. It is already dark.''
She had to accept it and nodded. ''Fine. I will wait until later. Is it far?''
They just passed the gate and as the night fell the gate slowly closed with a big sound and locked. She felt suddenly somehow a relief. ''Mingyu, am I a strange person?''
''What do you mean?'' He was curious.
''My request to not to be someone's family was accepted so easily. Is it because of my background or is it normal here?'' Somehow she knew that this world had quite simple rules.
''Well normal... It's not normal but you made a good decision of making a lawful document. That document will go to the main city and will be stored there and a copy of the document will be sent back and stored in the main office. That way they protect both sides of cheating.'' Mingyu tried to explain but literally could see her confused, even tho it was getting dark. ''Never mind miss. What important is that you dealt with this situation using our legal system. If in future any of them try using you... They will be completely punished. And you can even sue them for a bunch of gold. Heavy penalties are given in case of a breach. Of course, if both sides decide to break the contract, they have to write new contracts and again go through the same procedure.''
Shu Ya nodded. ''Simple. Good to know.''
While they spoke they travelled for quite a while. She turned her head and realized that they were really far away from the city. They travelled around one hill and finally, a bunch of lights could be seen waving in darkness.
"They are waiting for us?'' She curiously asked as the carriage turned towards that direction.
" Yes, Mingli is waiting for us." Mingyu's words were filled with happiness.
Not long after that they arrived at the farm but as it was dark night she didn't see anything, but she didn't rush as well. From now on she will live here. It's fine to see everything slowly.
As soon they got close to the house the carriage stopped and the door opened. Tired but happy face waited for her from the other side of the door. "Miss, you are finally home."
She chuckled and saw two young females waiting for her. "This?"
Mingli smiled. "I asked in the city. Their old employer was a noble who died recently of an old age. As they had no home to go to, they were looking for employment. But got scammed by some people and almost ended up in the red-light district. Luckily at that time, I heard them talking and offered work on the farm. They thought they would work on the farm but they still accepted."
She slowly descended from the carriage and looked calmly at them. "Why did you accept? I am nameless noble that chose to live simply. I'm not rich or I wouldn't live on a farm. I can look for better employment for you in the south. You have food credentials. Wouldn't that be better?"
One stood there thinking about it while others shook her head. "Miss, let me stay by your side. I heard from Mingli that they chose to stay by your side to the end of their life. Miss, let me do the same. Our past mistress was a simple woman as well. Having a hard time but still surviving, I'm used to. I don't mind."
Shu Ya didn't answer anything to that and looked at the other girl. She bowed politely and sighed. "Miss, living one time poorly is enough. If there is a chance for me to work in a big mansion I would like to ask for help. "
Shu Ya nodded. "Good. I will write a letter and will send you to the south. You can choose between rich tradesmen and noble houses. I will recommend you to both. Your choice where you will go."
She bowed deeply and looked at Shu Ya with gratitude. "Thank you, miss."
