Chapter 50: An Unexpected World for Two (Part 6)

"Anning, this is your elementary school class president Bai Guo, you remember her, right?"

She pointed at Bai Guo while introducing her to Ji Anning.

Bai Guo was also in a white dress that reached her ankles, exuding an ethereal aura, markedly different from Ji Anning's cocktail dress style.

She walked over with confidence, her face beaming with self-assurance and pride.

Ji Anning's face turned pale for a moment, then she nodded slightly, "I remember."

"Auntie, I was just talking to Jingfeng about Anning, asking when she would come."

Bai Guo walked up to Ji Anning's side, affectionately hooking her arm, pretending to be very familiar with her.

Yang Yufang smiled and nodded, "Then you young people go ahead and chat."

"Let's go, Anning."

Bai Guo almost dragged Ji Anning away, gradually moving out of the crowd and out of sight of the public.

Ji Anning forcefully shook off Bai Guo's arm and looked at her coldly, "Bai Guo, what are you trying to do?"

"Anning."

Just by their side was the restroom, and suddenly a familiar figure emerged from within.

That call of "Anning" was in a familiar voice, but the address was unfamiliar, and the tone carried not the slightest warmth.

He had always called her 'An'an,' but now he addressed her as Anning, the last time he did so was also in front of Bai Guo.

Ji Anning stared blankly, as Ji Jingfeng approached them.

He wore a pale blue linen shirt that suited his temperament, and although he came from a prominent family, he had an air of academia about him.

Like him, born into affluence, he didn't possess the authority and dominance of Ji Chicheng.

"Feng," Bai Guo eagerly approached him, clinging to Ji Jingfeng's arm and pouting with a coquettish tone, "Anning seems a bit uncooperative."

Seeing them like this in front of her, Ji Anning felt the irony, her eyes reddening as she looked at Ji Jingfeng, "Ji Jingfeng, is this what you want?"

Facing her accusation, a flicker of disgust crossed Ji Jingfeng's eyes, "What about you? You've been with other men, haven't you? Do you still expect me to want you after that?"

He was initially worried about offending her, that he wouldn't get past her family, but it turned out she had already been cheating on him.

This was the greatest humiliation of Ji Jingfeng's life.

'Heh'

The attitude of Ji Jingfeng plunged Ji Anning into despair, she gave a bitter smile, her heart chilled as she nodded, "Okay, I understand."

'An'an, give me your hand.'

'An'an, please wake up, don't leave me alone...'

If it was so, why then, three years ago, did he beg her not to leave him, why save her? Why not just let her die in that fire and end it all?

These questions, she had wanted to ask him earlier, but her pride wouldn't allow it.

Heh, even at this time, she was trying to reclaim the self-esteem she had lost over the years at the Ji family.

Ji Anning held her breath, trying to make her trembling body appear normal, trying to keep her footsteps steady.

Her hands were behind the skirt, clenched tightly into fists.

She didn't say goodbye to Yang Yufang, instead she left directly through the side door.

The city's night scene was still as splendid, with high-rise buildings everywhere, neon lights twinkling.

Reflected in her shining black eyes, yet they could not conceal the loneliness and confusion in her gaze.

Without realizing it, Ji Anning walked into a dark street with no streetlights, pitch-black, and she felt a bit scared. She quickly turned around, ready to go back.

"Ah..."

Suddenly, two tall figures sprang out from the dark, startling her. Before she could react, her head was already covered by a sack.
