Mu Zi From Now On (I)

Xu Shihan blushed as she was overcome with shyness.

Although she could not figure out what was going on, she felt like she was having a beautiful dream of staying in a luxurious intensive care unit, and a strange handsome man claimed that he was her lover.

Mu Rongcheng cut the dragon fruit into pieces with a knife, then placed them on a delicate plate.

"Have some fruits," he said plainly.

Xu Shihan nodded, tucked her hair behind her ears, and ate two pieces shyly with a fork.

Mu Rongcheng sat beside her and stared at her. He furrowed his eyebrows a little as though he was examining her…

Xu Shihan could not comprehend his meaningful look.

She found him odd. He treated her coldly even though he visited her every day and claimed that he was her boyfriend. His occasional display of gentleness only lasted for a split second. It was as though his mood was… Ever-changing.

Xu Shihan felt uncomfortable being stared at while she ate, so she put her fork down and said, "I have no appetite now, so I'll eat them later…"

Mu Rongcheng looked at her for some time without saying a word. Then, he smiled suddenly. "Do you not like it? It's okay, I'll buy you something else next time."

Xu Shihan stared blankly at him. She could not understand why he was suddenly happy…

He was the one who bought the fruits and asked her to eat them…

Besides, she did not mention that she did not like them.

Xu Shihan fixed her gaze on the dragon fruits on the white porcelain plate. They were fresh and juicy.

She wondered, 'Perhaps… I won't eat them next time.'

...

Su Zi followed Bai Wei back to the Mu family's residence.

Mu Residence was situated in a popular silk-stocking district in Green River City. It was a classic European-styled villa with white walls that had stacked-up symmetrical columns and curvy decorations. Not only did it look romantic, but it was also magnificent and distinguished.

A familiar view was seen when the big iron gate with carved flowers and branches opened slowly.

When Su Zi and Bai Wei got off at the courtyard's entrance, their servants at home took over the luggage carried by Bai Wei and greeted, "Mrs. Bai, Ms. Mu Zi."

Su Zi was distracted at that instant.

Yes… She was no longer the honorable young lady who married into the Mu family. She was instead the neglected adopted daughter, Mu Zi.

The fact that she was revisiting an old place with a different identity made her sigh emotionally.

Mu Zi followed behind Bai Wei.

The villa was splendid, but it was not where they stayed.

Their residence was a small bungalow located next to a semi-circular garden behind the villa.

It had white walls, a red roof, and the outer walls were covered in green creepers, which made the building blend in with the garden. The bungalow looked retro and refreshing.

While the building was a "small villa" that was unaffordable for many people in the society, it was an insignificant one in the Mu family.

Upon entering the building, a living room and a dining hall could be seen on either side. The interior was retro and European-styled, but it was less luxurious as it was simpler and more elegant like the countryside.

The bedrooms were located on the second floor.

Mu Zi's room had a set of handmade pine furniture. They were not exactly precious, but were quaint and carried the faint fragrance of pine trees.

Mu Zi was pleased when she saw that her room had been decorated warmly and comfortably.

When she opened the bay window in her bedroom, she discovered that she could see the villa in the front and had a broad view.

A knock on the door was heard later when Bai Wei came looking for her.

"You weren't able to attend your sister-in-law's funeral since you were at the hospital, so burn an incense stick for her later."

"Mm, I should." Mu Zi nodded.

She would burn an incense stick for herself to pray that her second chance at life would not be wasted. An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. Everything must come to an end.

'The murderer who killed me is in that building…' She looked at the villa and thought to herself.
