As the two people walked in,the other guests started to mutter amongst themselves..about the identity of the beauty.Many men tried to guess that the beauty was nothing more than an arm candy or trophy girlfriend of the old man but those who knew the man also knew that the man was devoted to his wife..Lawyer Wen Zhao was an old balding man who had the laugh lines around his face. His rotund body and the open smile made him look like a lovely grandfather character from a children's book.But behind the jovialness was a sharp mind.He could already guess what was going on in everyone's mind..This granddaughter of Old Man Lu was really a stunner..His first thought on seeing her had been that it was a pity he had not kept in touch with the General son in law of old man Lu..if he had, he would have coaches his grandson to snatch such a beauty and have a pretty granddaughter in law..But because of his own stupidity, his grandson lost and now this little angel was married..But in the next moment his heart lightened as he thought that he could at least introduce her as his God grand daughter...After all she was the daughter of his God daughter..
Looking up a little,as the girl was taller than him,he joked,"I don't think I have ever been stared at so much..Look even those old people that I a going to introduce you to are there looking our way..Should I tease them a bit and take you away ,leave them hanging in curiosity?"
He noticed that though the little girl looked confident a delicate natural blush had reddened her cheeks..He thought how rare it was to see a girl blush these days and decided to not tease her and his friends.
The old men were all staring at the girl but unlike the others their thoughts were not dirty or amorous.In fact each of them felt that the girl looked familiar but they could not place her.In their long lives they had met so many people but this girl was young so even of they had seen her it should be recent..Just then Lawyer Wen grinned at everyone and said,"This is my God granddaughter Xie Eun..Xie Eun this is everyone.."
It was only after the name and relation was mentioned that the felt their memories jog..Almost in unison they all glanced at where old Lady Lu stood and then to their grinning friend who had insisted that each of them be present tonight.. They would have ignored Old lady Lu bit not their friend..It seemed he really did have a purpose for tonight..They had all forgotten that old Man Lu had two granddaughters-A daughter's daughter and a son's daughter...Lu Yeona was the paternal granddaughter while Xie Eun the maternal...And Lawyer Wen had not forgotten....Well well well..Since Lawyer Wen was the one who had drafted all their wills and was privy to all their family secrets...he was also the one who had drafted the will that was to be read today...
And everyone who knew Lawyer Wen could tell that he loathed Old Lady Lu with a vengeance...
Xie Eun greeted the businessmen with a small modest smile..
The other guests who had been trying to get to know the identity of the girl,were all shocked when she was introduced as the big lawyer's God granddaughter. Most of them did not understand the connection of this person to the Lu's and were only planning on how to approach the girl..Old lady Lu was the first one to approach the table and would have attacked Xie Eun directly.If she had not been aware of the other eyes following her.With a thin smile she greeted the two people,"Lawyer Wen,my granddaughter is very innocent really!She has come to her own party with an outsider.Really, Xie Eun, even if you are from a small town, you must know that you can come to the ball since you are family.You should have told me, I would have sent an invitation to your dorms and you wouldn't have to sneak in here..You almost gave everyone here a wrong impression of yourself and Lawyer Wang...Why come with some outsider when you can just ask your family?And why are you wearing such overly bright clothes?"
Though it sounded like Grandma Lu was simply concerned for her and thus scolding her, the others listening in had been told about her identity,her personality had been pointed out as someone desperate to attend the ball that they would even latch onto an old man and claim a relation with him..The other thing that was lointed out was that as per the fashion these days,most people wore nude and pastel colours and Xie Eun was the only one who wore bright red like a Phoenix..With a few words,Grandma Lu had turned the image of the beauty to a desperate villager..
