The Girl in the Light

Cold hands

Warm smile

She's got those eyes

To keep you going for awhile

Head high

Eyes low

She takes a deep breath

Says take it slow

And you wonder bout her every day

She's just there to make the pain go away

What you don't know

Is she wipes her tears when it snows

The sparkling white reminds her of her past life

When she was pure

And when all was right

The story of the girl in the light

They say "smile

Give me fierce" can't be fragile

They say "hold this"

Smile big and strike a few poses

And you wonder about her everyday

She's just there to keep the bills paid

What you don't see

The girl you know isn't reality

Crying backstage

Only doing what she has to to make a good wage

Remember the good ole days when all was right

The story of the girl in the light

Hand held to you

The only comfort she ever knew

"Don't fret you got this"

Helping others through all their shit

"Help them" she's thinking

No thought of how she sinking

And some wonder about her everyday

But never helping her make the pain go away

A heart of gold broken and bent

Her soul is slowly fading her mind being spent

What you don't see

Is her reality

Secretly pleading with God for the end

Angel of death she prays the Lord will send

No one ever sees her internal strife

The story of the girl in the light
