Where's My Daughter?

In the middle of the night, the alarming sound of continuous doorbell ringing woke Katrina up. With a bat in her hands, she slowly approached the door. Ever since Bryan had left the house, she's been living alone in the spacious house. At night, she would triple-lock the doors; afraid of burglars and vengeful spirits.

Even the drips of water leak from the kitchen sink could startle her. Holding the bat tightly in her palms, she shouted, "Who is it?!!!"

Nobody answered.

She tried looking through the peephole on the door, but resulted in no luck. It was too dark to see if anyone was standing in front of her door. Suddenly, a loud bang came from the back entrance of the house; making her flinch. Taking few steps backwards, she dropped her bat and turned around to escape.Nervously running her hands through her pockets, she failed to find her keys. Staring at her barefoot, she remembered leaving her keys in the living. At this point, it was already too late.

"Take her down." A deep, hoarse voice commanded in the dark. Roughly, Katrina could shape out a tall and short figure. Within a seconds of his demand, two men captured her and brought her to the living room.

"Robbery! Robbery!!" Katrina screamed.

"Shut it, or I'll slice your tongue." A female voice warned dangerously as she walked in with her husband's arm around her shoulder.

Katrina's eyes widened in shock at the army of people in her house. "You guys must have gotten the wrong person. If you leave now, I promise I won't contact the police for trespass!"

"Call! Go to the police and tell them we trespassed because you kidnapped our precious baby twenty-three years ago! Dare you to go tell them right now the dirty deeds you've done to my precious baby while her parents weren't by her side! See who will end up rotting in jail! Go!" Her fists trembled from anger as she pointed at Katrina.

Katrina's lips quivered when she heard about the crime she committed years ago. "W..What do you mean?"

"What do I mean? It means you are caught red-handed. I have evidence from many years ago of you swapping the Hans child with your own. Tell me, where is my daughter? The child you kidnapped from the hospital!!!!" Sending daggered glares to Katrina, the petite figure crossed her arms. Her chest heaved as she struggled to control her breathing.

"Y..Your daughter? Isn't she the Hans family's child? I remember seeing the names before I swapped them.." Katrina was surprised by their words. It was obvious they were powerful with the number of body guards they brought with them and the way they were dressed.

"I don't need to explain anything to you. I'm asking you one last time, where is my daughter? Where is the Selina Gu from the family register of yours?! Return my daughter to me!" She wanted to reach out and strangle Katrina on the spot for snatching her baby.

"S..She..She's dead." Katrina gulped mouthfuls of saliva down her throat. Finally, the tall man beside the petite spoke and ordered two guards to go upstairs for a deep search. Since the house had only three rooms upstairs, it didn't take long before the guards came back down with shaking heads.

"That's impossible! How did she die? Where's her graveyard? I won't believe it until her corpse is in front of me!" Hearing the news of Selina's death, the woman gritted her teeth and grabbed Katrina by the collar.

"Do you know who we are? Do you know who my daughter is?!!! She's our Clover family's precious little princess!! If it weren't for those fucking bastards, I wouldn't let her out of my sight. I wouldn't have let anyone separate my children from me. I carried her nine months and didn't even get to hold her in my arms. I didn't get to kiss her goodbye nor tell her that I loved her dearly!"

"I watched the butlers take her away from me! Do you know how much pain it is to know you'll separate from your child the moment she was born?! I only heard her cries! I couldn't even see how she looked after I gave birth to her! I didn't have the chances to hold my baby close, yet you had the damn chance! Why? Why did you swap your own child with mine? How did my daughter die?!"

Her husband wrapped his arms around her as tears streamed down her delicate skin. Katrina frightenedly confessed. "I swapped them because Tracy Han cheated with my ex-husband! He divorced me and left my family while I was still pregnant! It's all Tracy Han's fault!"

"How could Tracy Han continue being all that loving with her husband after ruining my family?! My husband left and never came back! I never saw him again! If you have to blame, then go to Tracy Han for it! Why should my child live unhappily while they spoil their daughter like a pearl? How would I know the child wasn't theirs?! Selina chose to jump off the bridge and drown in the cold water! That's how she died!"

Katrina shouted the last sentence without a sense of remorse.

The couple bent down to meet Katrina at eye level.

"Listen up. I, Rosanna Clover and my husband, Eric Clover will not let you off. I don't believe in your damn words. You were afraid of poverty? You sent your daughter away for such stupid reasons? If you hated Tracy Han, you should go after her. Why drag your babies into this for? You're just as selfish as her who ruined your family!"

"You're coming with us until we find our daughter. You better hope she is safe and sound wherever she is. If not, I'll have your daughter, Shirley pay for everything you've done to my daughter. An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth. Just like how disgusting you are, your daughter is just as greedy."

Seeing Katrina's palms spread out flat against the carpet, Rosanna gestured for their men to hold her steady. One by one, her sharp heels pressed deep into her nails; crushing them until blood spurted out. Katrina's agonizing scream didn't improve the couple's mood by the slightest.

"This is for spouting nonsense about Selina being dead. If I hear another word like that, it won't be as simple as wrecking your nails. This is only the beginning. Every day my daughter remains missing, I'll snap your bone and then fix it. Then, break it again. Don't worry, I have the best doctor to fix broken bones within a day. You'll be good as new."

After all ten fingers had deep holes and chipped nails stabbing out, Eric rubbed Rosanna's shoulders and walked her out of the room. He halted his steps. "Don't think this type of pain is considered repaying how much you've done to our daughter. This is merely a grain of sand in our eyes. When we find Selina, I'll have her tell us how you've treated her."

"If you mistreated her or we think you've mistreated her, I'll have you regret giving birth to your daughter. I'll destroy you and Shirley. So, you better work on those wishes to the stars in the sky for us to find her."
