Monologue Act

The waiter hesitantly asked, "sir, but adding this pill will definitely cause a ruckus if anything happens to the young lady at table five! This is a crime. It is not too late to return the money and pour the wine out."

Calmly, the manager crossed his arms and leaned back on the counter. "Listen up. You still want a salary and earn tips for your mother's medical fees. After this, I will give you a $1,000 bonus. Plus, her partner is also there. What else could happen? These rich people always form marriages between families. Whether we do this and earn money from it or not, it wouldn't stop anything from happening between them. Plus, this pill already mixed with the wine. Just bring it over to the table when the guests arrive!"

Tapping his finger impatiently against the wooden counter, the manager pointed at the left glass on the tray. From the side, Selina witnessed the pill dissolving in the glass until it disappeared. She bit her bottom lip and patted on her dress where her pockets would normally be located. Cursing inwardly, she slapped her forehead. 'Why did I wear a dress tonight?! I left my phone at the table because this outfit didn't have pockets!'

She continued eavesdropping on the conversation. The manager's voice was neither too loud nor too soft - just enough for her to hear every word he said. Her lips twitched as the shameless middle aged man degraded Jessica.

"It was Madam Wang who instructed us to do this! Think about it. What kind of mother would harm her own child? She is probably thinking about Miss. Wang's future. As a parent, who would want their child drowned in rumors of being a single unwanted lady? This is doing them a favor! Plus, who knows how many times this woman bedded rich men? Her mother is probably anxious about her future! Just do as I say!"

As the manager spoke ill about Jessica, Selina's brow arched upwards. 'How dare you insult Jessica? Hah, old man. I won't let you off. Just you wait.' Throughout the entire conversation, the waiter seemed unwilling because he knew it was the wrong thing to do. On the other hand, the manager threatened him with his job and reminded him of his mother's medical fees.

As a result, the waiter decided to give in to the manager's instructions. He kept nodding in an unenthusiastic manner.

Hiding behind the wall, Selina's fists clenched together. If she went back to her table now, it would raise their suspicions. Even if she went to tell Jason about this incident, it would be too late to stop the waiter from delivering the drugged wine. As she wondered what she could do to swap the two wine glasses, she spotted the reservation table seating screen on the computer.

From the corner, she waited for the manager to leave the waiter alone. A few minutes later, the manager left to deal with other matters. Relieved, Selina walked out and started her monologue act!

Walking out to the bar counter, Selina twisted her head left and right. Her furrowed brows and tightly pressed lips expressed her confusion. She sighed, rubbing the side of her face while looking back and forth several times.

"Miss, are you alright?" The waiter held the tray with wine glasses and walked over to her.

Selina shook her head. "Thank goodness! Yes, I do need help! I don't have my cellphone and have no idea where my table is. Can you kindly help me search it up?" She bit her bottom lip, looking pitiful.

"Oh..Sure! I'm new here, so I will need a few minutes to help check the records. Let me access the system. Give me a moment." He placed the tray on the counter and walked behind the computer screen where he entered his staff information to unlock the system. Taking a quick glance at the two wine glasses, Selina smiled.

"Miss, may I ask what table number you were reserved to sit in?" The waiter appreciated Selina's patience as he tapped the screen a few times.

"Oh dear, I actually don't know the number, but my table should be under one of the two surnames. Either Wang or Hui. Can you help me check?" Selina softened her voice when she pleaded.

"Sure. Give me a moment. Ah, miss, it shouldn't be under the surname Wang. The surname Wang is the table I will be serving, and the guests aren't here yet. You should be under the surname Hui on table five since it is already checked in." He smiled when he saw both surnames pop up on his screen.

"Ah, silly me. See? I even confused my table with another person's table." She let out a light chuckle as the waiter reached out for the tray. "Oh, what are these? Are these menus new?" Selina purposely diverted his attention to the stack of menus by the counter's edge.

"Those are our lunch menus." Seeing Selina pick up one of the menus in her hands with great interest, he decided to wait until she finished before continuing his previous task. "Unfortunately, it is dinner time now. Our chef won't be able to make the selections under the lunch menu. However, if you do wish to try the desserts, the sweets from both menus are the same."

"I see, what a pity. Then, I should visit during lunch hours another day." Sighing, she folded the menu and placed it on top of the other menus. "Ah, can you show me the way back to my table? This is my first time here, so I am not familiar with the halls here."

"Of course." He stretched out for the tray once again. Right before his fingers touched the tray, Selina gasped loudly.

"Oh my! I'm so sorry. I accidentally knocked over the stack of menus. Here, let me pick it up. Ah..." Selina purposely revealed the side split of her dress. While pulling the fabric over her leg, she hurriedly picked up the menus one after another.

"Miss, it is inconvenient for you to pick these up. Also, you are also our precious customer. Let me pick them up and organize them. Please give me a minute before I guide you back to your table." He averted his gaze from her exposed skin.

Pulling strands of hair behind her ear, Selina stood up and nodded. "Then, thank you very much for your service." While he concentrated on collecting the menus, Selina swapped the position of the wine glasses. Smiling, she thanked the waiter again.

After the menus were neatly placed back on the counter, the waiter led Selina back to her table. On the way back to her seat, Selina's smile became an obvious grin. 'Hooligans from the Wang family, you dare scheme against my darling Jessica? We'll see who ends up being the joke in this city!'

"You're back. What took you so long?" Jason smiled at the teasing curve on his wife's lips.

"This place was too big. I got lost. Luckily, I met this waiter and asked him to bring me back. Brother, you're here!" Selina took a seat and faced Alfred with excitement blossoming in her eyes.
