Jewelry Set 2

"When we were young, we argued over minor issues. Sometimes, we would have cold wars with each other. Of course, when we were young, we thought we had a lot of time left to spend with each other. But at this time and age, I really regret it. If I gathered all the times, I've argued with her into coaxing and spending time with her, how great would it be? But when I learned all this, her life was already reaching its end. And I will never have the chance to tell her how much I love her again. I can't hold her hands, see her smile and hear her laughter again."

Grandpa Lun wiped his tears using the edge of his sleeves. He reached out and patted Kyla's hands. "Although Isaac may have said or done something wrong, he really wanted to make you happy. Grandpa isn't saying all these words to make you cry or feel upset, I only want to tell you my story. Life is really too short, and it is barely enough for people to convey their love for one another. Time passes by quickly and I hope you two would make up soon. Don't spend time being angry at someone who is worth your love and trust."

Waving his hand towards Isaac, he took Isaac's hand and pulled him closer to the bed. Placing Isaac's hand on top of Kyla's hand, he gave the couple a squeeze. "Enjoy the time you two have together before you regret it like me. Since I've returned what I've borrowed, it is time for me to leave. I still have another appointment to attend to. Goodbye Isaac, thank you so much for fulfilling my wife's wish. Goodbye Kyla, I hope you will live healthily and get well soon."

When Kyla saw Grandpa Lun standing up, she bit her lip and tugged Isaac's arm. "Isaac, how about we ask Grandpa Lun to be the god-great grandfather of our child?" She couldn't stand seeing such a lonely figure walk out of the hospital like this.

"Child? What child?" Isaac's brow wrinkled when she heard what she suggested.

She took his palm and laid it on her flat tummy. "The child in me! What? Don't act like you didn't know. You were just wailing over our privacy days being over in less than eight months."

"Wait...what? You...You were pregnant? Not sick? Then why would it be a life- Oh...." Isaac held his forehead and laughed out loud when he realized he interpreted Jessica's words wrongly.

"Hurry and stop Grandpa Lun! What are you doing?! If you're not going to go, I will go myself! I'll get off this bed when the doctor told me not to move around so much!" Kyla pulled the blanket off her lap and attempted to get off the bed. However, before her feet landed on the floor, she found herself leaning in Isaac's embrace.

"I got it. You stay right here and don't move." Isaac dashed out of the room and stopped Grandpa Lun from entering the elevator.

"Grandpa Lun! Please hold on for a minute!" Isaac called out to the elderly man by the elevator.

Grandpa Lun turned around. "What is it? Did I leave something behind?"

"Grandpa Lun, my wife wants to talk to you. Can you spare a few minutes and listen to what she wants to say? It is not convenient for her to walk around because she is pregnant so I didn't let her come herself."

Isaac smiled brightly even though he already tried concealing his happiness. Grandpa Lun smiled, "Of course. Then let's head back to the room."

When Isaac came back with Grandpa Lun, Kyla's smile widened. "Grandpa Lun! Come, have a seat again." She held the jewelry set in her hands and waited until he was settled down before handing it to him.

"Grandpa Lun, I want you to keep this jewelry set since it means a lot to you and your wife. Compared to having it as an anniversary gift, this is more memorable for you. Plus, whether we have presents or not during the special date, it doesn't matter. Another thing I want to discuss with you is about the child in my tummy. If you are willing, we would like you to be our child's god-great grandfather. What do you say?" She handed the box to Grandpa Lun and studied his astonished expression.

The excitement in his eyes couldn't be contained when he heard about her idea. His eyes swelled up when he processed the thought of having family members. "Good! Very well! I am willing! My son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren died during an accident several years ago. Now that my wife also died, I was afraid of being lonely. Thank you. Thank you so much. These old bones can die with a smile now. I have family again."

He cried, holding Kyla's hands tightly. Isaac patted the elderly's back while handing him tissues.

While the couple successfully reconciled and was enjoying their time with their new family member, Celinda and Bryan were standing in front of a nursery room. Standing with intertwined hands, Celinda smiled at the newborn babies in front of her. Many of them were asleep while nurses kept track of how the newborns were doing.

"Aren't they adorable?" Celinda bit her bottom lip, swinging their hands slightly from seeing how small newborns were. Even though the babies were mostly resting, she couldn't help but imagine how her and Bryan's child would look in the future.

"Mm. Very cute. But why did you suddenly want to bring me here? Are you thinking about having a child with me? If so, should we get information from adoption agencies and the process of adopting a child together? I heard it takes a while before we could be placed on the waitlist for adoption. It's best to apply earlier." As soon as this thought entered his mind, he started researching adoption on his phone.

Although they've mentioned this topic vaguely during their recent trip, they haven't sat down and actually discuss about adopting a child yet. Celinda read the article title on his phone and smiled, "Children are special gifts and not everyone is blessed to receive such precious lives. But there is also a huge responsibility in becoming a parent. Are you sure you're ready to become a father?"
