You Lied

"Pfft, you're right. I can hear my mom and dad cheering over the phone already. They'll most likely take the next flight back and buy me a whole bunch of supplements. I'll have a thick guide on what to do and not do during pregnancy too. Ahhh, I suddenly feel so tired of being pregnant. Baby, can mommy give birth to you earlier?" Celinda rubbed her stomach and giggled at her silly thoughts.

"Don't worry, Bryan can read the entire book and summarize everything for you. You just have to eat, rest and hug your baby to sleep for the next months to come. If not, your brother can read with him and take some notes. Hahahahaha" Selina patted Jason's shoulder, sacrificing him for the sake of the pregnant lady.

Seeing Celinda yawning again, Selina hurriedly urged them to leave. Since they left in a hurry to tail after the girls earlier, they left their vehicles at Jason's place. Considering Kyla's condition, they left the car keys with Isaac earlier.

"Here, take our car. Bring Celinda home first. She should get a good rest. We can call for car service since we're not in a rush to get home anyway." Selina handed the car keys to Bryan and gestured for them to leave first.

After watching them drive out of the parking lot, Selina hugged Jason's arm and leaned her head against his arm. "Ahh, it's such a beautiful day out. Hubby, do you want to take a walk around the area before we go home?" It's been a while since the two of them had a date.

"Sure. We can shop around too if you want." Jason looked up places around the area where they could stop by and shop.

Across the street from where the couple stood, a young man tossed his used cigarette onto the floor. As he watched the couple's flirtatious behavior, he stomped the tip of his shoes onto the lit cigarette until the burning end extinguished.

In one hand, a yellow envelope was crumpled with wrinkle marks. His other hand was in a fist, slowly tightening. His eyes burned in jealousy when he saw Jason brushing Selina's fringe away from her eyes. She smiled dazzlingly at him as if her world only had him in it.

"Antonio..." A woman's voice interrupted his deep thoughts.

"What do you want from me?" Antonio's harsh tone startled the woman. She already expected this type of resentment from him, but still shook from surprise when he showed his emotions.

"I..." She wanted to talk to him about the fake corpse and DNA results but wasn't sure how to break the truth to him.

"What? Did Master Liam order you to do some secretive task to deceive me again? Another fake DNA report? Or did you guys fish out another moldy corpse with matching DNA results to Selina?" He scoffed, despising her contradictive behavior. On his side, she always claimed to be his friend. On his father's side, she heeded to his orders.

"Antonio, listen to me..." She tried explaining, but it was useless because he didn't spare her a chance to speak.

"Lia Rim! What do you want to say now? I treated you as a friend and trusted you unconditionally. I've always believed your words even when you told me Selina was dead! And you? You helped my dad lie to me and cover the truth. What is there to explain? What? Are you going to tell me you didn't want to lie to me either and that you were forced? Don't make yourself sound more like a joke than you already are. No, don't make me into a joke anymore." He angrily thrust his arm outwards, slamming it right into the brick wall behind him.

"I really didn't know that she was still alive at that time! Antonio, you should be much clearer than I am with your condition back then. You kept drinking non-stop. If you weren't drinking yourself to sleep, you'd be found swimming in the waters and diving endlessly for her body. You wouldn't give up! Did you think I want to lie to you about this? You think I wanted to help your father fake all these things?" Lia's eyes brimmed with tears. Her fists shook from anger.

She took a deep breath, closing her eyes to calm her emotions. When she opened her eyes again, the ambivalence in her eyes faded to dullness. "If I didn't do what I did, you would've been washed away by waves or drowned in the water already. I won't explain myself any further because, in the end, I'm the one who chose to lie to you. Before choosing this route, I've already weighed the risks."

"I told myself, if Selina was alive and happened to show up again, then that'll be great. At least, she'll be alive and you'll see her again. If she was unfortunate and was really dead, then you would get over her sooner. I can't prevent you from feeling betrayed nor am I the worm in your stomach to know what you're talking about. I'm just here to tell you that Master Liam is tracking Zhou Lun. I know you are secretly in contact with him, so you might want to tell him to be careful."

Lia turned around and walked in the opposite direction from where Antonio stood. At the end of the block, she took a right turn and stayed there. On her phone, she opened one of the cameras she set around the area and watched Antonio step into his car. She sighed, "If there was a way to go against your father and help you in the open, I would've done it long ago."

On a different tab, she opened a tracking map. Slowly, the blue dot moved farther away. When she was talking to Antonio earlier, he had his back towards her. She used the opportunity to attach a tracking device to his vehicle. As she tracked his location, she also hopped into her car and started following the same route. 'I can only look after you this way.' She thought to herself as she drove down the blocks.
