Chapter one: A choice
Lance woke up excited yet nervous, the reason being that it was his time to choose his power. At the age of 18 that person can choose their power to be able to use for the rest of their life. Without much consequence. So he then got out of bed and went down the stairs to find a note near a stack of pancakes. He walked over to the table nearly tripping on the rug that was always tripping him on important days. He caught himself and continued to the table. The note read, ""Morning Lance, have some pancakes. I will see you at the ceremony. Love Mom.`` '' He sat down at the table and threw away the note. Immediately after picking up the fork the doorbell rang. Lance said
"Come in.".
Looking over at the door his best friend Eeve, whom since childhood was his friend after saving her from the great blizzard and some wolf packs, walked in with her dark red hair let down, which went down half her back, ears, and two tails. She was wearing the white sweater he had given her the first day of the blizzard they met, and wore jeans and sneakers with it.
"Morning Lance what's for breakfast?", she asked.
"Pancakes from my mom", he replied.
"Oh I love her pancakes, they are so good." She said in return. "Are you ready for the ceremony Lance?"
"I'm nervous yet still excited." He said shakeshly.
"Oh I was nervous when it was my day to get my power, so don't worry Lance."
"I know, and not many things make you nervous Eeve." He said quickly. After saying that they ate the pancakes silently.
When they finished Eeve said, "We should probably get to the ceremony." They started to walk outside and they both saw decorations like red streamers, red unlit lanterns, and some red balloons held by children. Walking over to the ceremony area every one turned and stared at him and Eeve while they walked.
"This is weird." Lance said.
"When I got my powers nobody even cared, even the elders hated me but still had to do it because it's tradition." She said in reply.
"Yea they hated that day, they didn't even set up a single lantern or streamer for you Eeve." After that conversation they finally reached the ceremony area in the town square.
"It is time for Lance Lancaster to gain his power every one. Please take a seat and watch the ceremony." said the oldest elder
Eeve said "Good luck Lance" after that she started to walk away to the stands. Looking around Lance saw his mother sitting in the front row of the stands smiling.
"It is time for the ceremony to begin please be quiet." Everyone went silent knowing if they talked they'd be punished.. "Lance please drink this and slide under the blanket." Lance drank the weird liquid and slid under the blanket. After doing this he fell asleep immediately.
