Anzu had followed the boy with the sour attitude all the way back to the dorms. They walked the whole way and not once did he look, speak, or acknowledge her existence. She followed silently behind, admiring the scenery. She couldn't believe just how large the campus was. How much money did this school make exactly? There was practically a forest on the outskirts, and everything inside had some form of greenery. She really did want to talk to the boy. Find out what the living arrangements would be. What kind of stuff she had to catch up on. But she knew for a fact she was exhausted, and wasn't in the mood to get her head ripped off. She felt like a lemming following every move of her classmates. Still, she couldn't complain. This was the life she had hoped for for so long. She couldn't be happier. When she thought this, something uneasy clung to her. She had no idea what it meant, but she chose to ignore it. When they finally reached the smaller dorm buildings, the boy stepped inside, turning slightly and holding the door open just a portion. He made a quick flick with his head, telling her to hurry. Still not a word. He was awfully silent for someone supposedly so angry. When she stepped inside he closed the door behind her and started immediately up the stairs. She didn't know what to do. She wanted to explore the dorm and find her other classmates, but at the same time she wanted to follow her new roommate. She rather disliked phrasing it that way. She stared at the bottom step, lost in thought. She had no idea what would be the better decision. Should she just leave him alone? He clearly didn't want to talk to her.
"C'mon I don't have all day." She heard from up the stairwell. That was the most she had heard him speak. His voice was so... sharp.
"Coming!" She called rushing up the stairs and nearly tripping. That was when she saw the door of her new dorm.
When the door opened up, she saw a navy blue room with two sectors. One was a kitchen and a bathroom, the other was a bedroom combined with a living room and office. It was incredibly spacious compared to the one she had had all this time. He went over to the window and unraveled the red curtains, revealing a terrace. She was shocked by how plain it really was. There was one or two pictures of a famous superhero she'd never heard of. A camouflage colored comforter with a red throw blanket. There was a small chair in front of an even smaller TV. Next to it, a silver desk. She wondered how someone with so many choices of colors and items would want such a barren room, but to each their own, she assumed. At this point she didn't know what to do. She just stood, right smack in the middle of the room. She was worried the situation would be awkward but she couldn't think of anything to say.
"Do you want something to drink?" He asked removing a soda from the fridge. She jumped, he was ridiculously quiet. She had no idea he had gone behind her and into the kitchen. Once again her words got caught in her throat.
"No thanks... I'm okay." She said smiling nervously. He simply closed the fridge and sat down in his chair. She assumed he was going to turn on the TV but to her complete and utter dismay he turned it in her direction. She could feel herself getting flustered.
"So... Anzu was it?" He asked giving her a judging look. She nodded yes, trying to think of something to do to fix the confrontation, but nothing came to mind.
"Look, I-i'm sorry that this happened, if I had known I wouldn't h-"He cut her off.
"I don't care." He said curtly, sipping his soda like it was a scene from a mob movie and he was deciding what to do with her. She didn't like that at all. She knew her face was growing red. He was just... agitating.
"Alright well if you don't care then would you mind telling me the rules here so I don't break any of them?" She asked changing her stance. If he didn't want to be friendly that was fine, but he could at least tell her what to expect.
"Rules?" He let out a snicker. "Just don't leave your girly shit all over the place and don't annoy me." He said turning the other direction. What does that even mean? Then the thought occurred to her. She had absolutely nothing. No soap, no clothes, no food, nothing. She didn't even have a pillow to sleep on. In any case, the last thing she wanted to do was stay here.
"Alright well... I'm going downstairs to look around. I'll be back in a bit." She said shutting the door behind her. Honestly she could've collapsed on the floor and gone to sleep right then and there. But his presence was enough to make more socializing sound like a better option. This was going to be a nightmare.
The second Anzu reached the bottom step, the boy named Kiri met her halfway.
"Sweet! I was just about to come looking for you. We just made some food, so I came to see if you wanted any." Anzu perked up at the word food. She was starving. Despite the constant ache in her muscles, she also learned that using her quirk made her incredibly hungry.
"Sure that sounds great." She said following him into the kitchen. To her surprise, almost the entire class was there.
"Hey guys! Anzu's here!" Kiri said to practically the whole room. Once again everyone's attention was directed at her and she grew red again. She was shocked as the girl named Mina came up and practically wrapped her arm around Anzu.
"Hey! You want some soba?" She asked, handing her a bowl. Her tone was ridiculously cheerful. Anzu gratefully took it. " Todoroki got to decide what we ate today." She had no idea which one that was. Mina seemed to notice, then pointed to a boy who's hair was split down the middle between red and white. He had a terrible looking burn mark on the right side of his face. He had quite the dull expression on his face as he sucked up his noodles. He gave a curt wave, so she smiled back. A girl with a black pony tail game directly up to her.
"I'm Yaoyorozu, but you can call me Momo! It's so great to meet you!" She said taking Anzu's hand and shaking it vigorously. "You have to tell me all about yourself!" She said leading Anzu to a table. She was shocked at the overflowing forwardness and confidence all of these people had. Then again those are the traits you need to become a good hero. Now came the hard part. Thinking up convincing answers to all her classmate's questions.
The sun had begun to set. Anzu had been answering questions all afternoon. She sat on the long green couch in the center living rooms, almost all of the class gathered around her. If she wasn't already exhausted, this had done her in. Not only did she have to communicate with about fifteen people at one time, she also had to remember all of her answers. Which, she had an incredibly good memory seeing as she had nothing to fill it with until recently. She could truly feel the genuine feelings of all of these people. They were all incredibly kind, and had something to say or ask. She couldn't help but think the world would be a whole lot of a better place if it were filled with people like them. She couldn't help but think of Bakugou. He really didn't belong here, yet he still made plenty of friends. Maybe there was hope for her after all. Something about him made her incredibly uneasy. She just didn't know if she trusted or even liked him. She had met plenty of people she didn't like in the past, but this time was different. She was just glad it was a Friday. She knew for a fact she couldn't do that two days in a row.
The first person to turn in was Ida. She was glad to have learned his name. All of their names for that matter. Slowly, one by one they began to leave, but she waited until the very last moment. She wanted so badly not to go back into that room. She had no clothes to change into, nothing to sleep on. It would be painfully embarrassing. When finally, Kiri yawned and decided to leave, she got up. She grabbed a pillow from the couch and a throw blanket. Just act like you own the place. She thought to herself, trying to calm her nerves and failing miserably. She trudged up the stairs, procrastinating all the way there. When she finally reached the door, her hand hovered over the door handle. With a sigh of acceptance she knocked on the door.
"What do you want?!" He yelled from inside.
"It's Anzu." She replied quietly. She was worried he wouldn't be able to hear her but luckily he said come in. When she entered through the door, he was at his desk. Studying? That sounded like the last thing someone like him would be doing. She rested her pillow and blanket it the very corner of the kitchen. She had no idea where he wanted her sleeping. She realized she should probably shower. She was hoping the warm water and steam would stop the aching.
"I think I'm going to get in the shower. Is that okay with you?" She asked hesitantly.
"Do what you want." He grumbled not bothering to look up from what he was doing. He waited a few moments before adding: "I know none of your stuff has come yet... do you need soap or somethi'n" He asked turning around slightly. With a sigh of acceptance she responded yes. To her surprise, he got it for her without complaint. "By the way the shower works opposite. Hot is cold and vise-versa." He said walking back to his desk.
"Thanks" She said feeling slightly happy that he actually acknowledged her presence. He simply waved her away with a hand movement. Oh yeah. I forgot. He's a jerk. She thought sarcastically. She was genuinely surprised over how clean the bathroom was. He didn't seem like the type of person to enjoy clean surroundings but everything was spotless. With that she turned on the shower, and washed off the grime of the day.
Anzu couldn't believe how good it felt to be clean. She never really had to worry about it in the past seeing as dirt was practically non-existent. Now however, It felt incredible to get rid of the sweat and dirt. She felt like she had accomplished something, put in a hard days work. She felt like she had a purpose. She couldn't be happier. The thought of finally lying down and sleeping left her almost excited. That was when she realized she had nothing to put on. And black cloud was cast over her excited mood. She unwillingly put the school uniform back on, ruining the pleasure of being clean. Combed her fingers through her hair, washed out her mouth which was the closest she could get to brushing her teeth. She walked out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. She was stopped by a voice in the living room.
"What the hell are you wearing? I thought you showered." He questioned his voice agitated.
"What do you mean? I did." She said gesturing to her still damp hair, not wanting him to pry.
"I just didn't have anything to change into." Anzu said this matter-of-factly, Hoping to drop the conversation. Bakugou pressed on.
"Who the fuck doesn't bring any clothes when they move?" The hot head replied, his tone perplexed. Heated embarrassment began to flood in. Why wouldn't he just read her tone and drop it?
"Well I didn't and there's nothing I can do about it." Anzu said pulling a water out of the fridge. It fell silent. Just when she finally thought the conversation ended, he appeared in the doorway nearly scaring her half to death. He was holding out an old black hoodie. It was clearly warn down by time. It had multiple iron-on decorations at the top. Some of them All Might merchandise, some from Endeavor, some for Eraser Head. None of which she knew.
"It doesn't fit me anymore anyway. So you can keep it until you can get some decent clothes." He said not looking her in the eye. Anzu took a moment, confused.
"Thank you." She smiled, taking it from him. She was genuinely surprised, but in a good way.
"Don't get all soft with me! And don't read into this." He growled, whipping around and stomping out of the room. Why was she not surprised? Still though. Maybe he wasn't as bad as she thought.
Anzu went back into the bathroom and changed into the hoodie. He had grown out of it? It was so big on her she was practically swimming in it. It fit her like a baggy dress. Even thought the size was an issue everything else about it was amazing. It was soft from being warn down over time, and it smelled like burnt caramel. (Not that she would know what that smells like.) It fit her decently, but the waist was a bit annoying. For this she removed the belt to her school uniform and put it around her waist tightening it as far as it could go. That was much better. She also didn't want to walk around barefoot. to this she put her knee high socks back on, and walked out of the door. She layed out the pillow and blanket on the tile floor of the kitchen and turned out the light. Seconds after it was off, it was back on again.
"What the hell are you doing?" Bakugou asked, he had also changed out of his school clothes and into a black tank top and sweat pants. She could see now, why the hoodie couldn't fit him anymore. She had never seen someone so built.
"Sleeping?" She questioned, siting up.
"What the hell are you doing in the kitchen?" He asked looking at her like she was insane.
"I didn't know if you wanted me in the same room or not so..."
"Tsk' you honestly think I would ask you to sleep on the tile? Get up." He ordered walking into the living room. If you actually talked to me we wouldn't be having this problem. She thought to herself, a twinge of annoyance entering her plethora of current emotions. Picking up the pillow and blanket, she followed behind him. "Sleep here." He said pointing to the floor right next to his bead. That close?
"You're sure?" She asked, doubtful. He nodded and crawled into his own bed. Just as Anzu shut her eye,
"That's all you have?" The words came from above her. Out of the black she saw two little crimson eyes hovering above her.
"Yes?" She said trying not to glare too angrily at him. What was his problem? Why did he care so much about what she was wearing and how she was sleeping. Was this his way of being courteous? The red throw blanket she had seen earlier landed right on top of her. The two eyes dissapeared from sight, and the room fell silent. She smiled to herself, I guess it's true that actions speak louder than words.
"Goodnight." She said quietly, but immediately regretting it. She got a curt grunt in return. With that she was happy. At least it was better than silence.
