We headed to a nearby mall, known for the most stores in the area. We drove past in a sleek black car that cost twice as much as I have ever made in my life.
Violin music played in the background, but nothing was said between us. We arrived at the mall shortly and headed in through the tall sliding glass doors. The mall looked big on the outside, but was huge on the inside. For a mall, everything was clean and modern. There was a giant fountain in the middle, at the bottom coins were scattered with wishes of the future.
As we walked along people's stares followed us, or followed him. Remus would stand out in any crowd. He wore a dark suit that showed off his perfect body. His raven black hair was soft and wavy making him look more handsome then possible. He gave off a mysterious aura that made every girl fall for him. Some people were brave enough to even take pictures of him. He walked before them like a powerful king, while I just kind of awkwardly walked next to him.
We went from store to store buying different types of clothes. By the end I was carrying at least fifty bags, which the Dark Lord refused to help me with. My stomach growled in protest, needing more food. By the time we got to the food court I was dragging my feet behind me. I plopped down on a nearby chair while Remus went to order food.
My phone buzzed and l looked down to find a message from my boss. "Eliminate the target, or we will eliminate you. You have until midnight." I put my phone down with a thud and sighed with my hands on my face. How was I going to kill a man with black magic? Could I escape to a different country? I'm a trained assassin maybe I could defend myself against the Agency. Why did they want Remus dead? Does it have to do with him being the Dark Lord?
Remus returned with two trays of food, both with hamburgers and fries. I took a bite and the rich flavor filled my mouth making my eyes water. The food here was amazing and it was cheap too. I got half way through my burger when I decided to take a risk and ask "What does your company Lee's Finding do?"
He looked at me then and swallowed his food before replying back "Nothing."
"That's not an answer" I said annoyed
"We do nothing, it's a cover up that lets me do my real job."
"It can't be a cover up! It is well known throughout the world."
"Yes it is well known, but it isn't real. Rumors can sometimes be mistaken for the truth."
"Then what's your real job?" I asked accusing him.
His expression darkened "Don't worry about it."
I tried to push for more answers, but he cut me off with a warning glare that sent chills down my spine.
The rest of the meal was in silence, but questions filled my head. Why did the Agency say the business was corrupt if there wasn't a business to begin with? What was the Dark Lord hiding? Why was I sent on a pointless mission? Why do they want him dead? How was I going to kill him? Should my loyalty still lie with the Agency? And finally my favorite question
What am I going to do now?
