A few hours later I met with principal Robin Woods and when I shook his hand, I grabbed his arm and rolled up his sleeve, revealing five of the ten rings. I grabbed him and pinned him into the wall growling. "Where did you get those from?"
He choked down that they were passed down in his family and I released him while he rubbed his throat. He said they belonged to some ancient ancestor of his and his mom's father lost one of them before she could pass it down so they never worked for him or her. He said they were supposed to protect their owner or something. I told him to take them off before he did so and asked who I was.
I grunted. "If your story is true, then I'm your ancient ancestor."
I put the nine rings on and they glowed faintly before a portal opened by my will and the last ring fell in from a hell dimension. I joined the other nine and glowed brightly then before I cut his palm against his will. I put a drop to my nose and breathed deep. My eyes went feral as my whole demeanor changed. I spoke one word. "Sin."
Pain crossed my face before I shook myself out of it and told him to put his fists up to mine. He did so and I shoved, sending the rings to him as they changed from deep purple to a light purple neon glow. His eyes flashed purple before he recovered, knowing how to use the rings instinctively. I sat down and Buffy rubbed my arm asking if I was alright.
Robin asked. "Is he alright? He comes in here and assaults me before claiming to be my ancient king dead relative and you ask if he's alright?"
I growled. "Sit boy, we've a lot to discuss and I've no patience for feigned injury. We both know you're tougher than a small cut or you wouldn't be my descendant."
He looked rebellious until my claws burst from between my knuckles. He grimaced and sat before I put them away and told him about myself, my trip through time, how I preserved my sanity and how I met his ancestor, the first slayer. I told him coldly and indifferently that the wild savagery is apart of me now and it's in his blood. The desire to do great violence to anyone or anything that threatens him.
I told him I was human, just different and from a different reality. I told him the reason for my immortality was my ability to heal from any damage no matter how severe. I added that my skin was fused with a metal from my original reality that took in magic. Finally I told him of Sineya's death, how the sisterhood of guardians took Sin, our daughter and the weapon that wasn't broken before using magic to fuse the one that was with my claws.
I told him I'd left the rings with the guardians for Sin when she was older as an inheritance since I couldn't be there to protect her with an asshole demon working for the gods and likely tracking me. I gestured to his ring. "Keep them. They'll make you immortal and you know what they can do besides that. They're your inheritance now since I've nothing of her left. I'd hoped to meet her someday but it seems I won't get the chance."
He stayed quiet before saying it was a lot to process. I stood up and brought out several duffel bags of cash, leaving them on the floor by his desk stacked in a pile. "For you or this school. What you do with it is up to you. Consider it your trust fund kid. You aren't my daughter and you may be her blood, but we're strangers so I can't expect you to want to get to know me. Just know that when you're done processing, if you want to get a beer or something and talk I'll be there."
He nodded numbly and I left with Buffy while we picked up Dawn and headed home. Buffy told Dawn who the principal was to me. Dawn asked if it meant she could skip detentions before backtracking and saying not that she had any. Buffy told her no while I went and meditated.
A few days later Buffy had a nightmare about a slayer potential dying and said from beneath you it devours. I frowned and spoke up. "It's the First. I remember it from my studies of Wolfram and Hart's records. Only one being goes by that slogan."
Buffy groaned saying she knew the eyeless and mouthless assholes sounded familiar. I held her and sent a text to Eleanor's son Richard who temporarily runs the Ten Rings since Eleanor, Anne, Idelle and Max passed over the summer. Buffy started her job at the school later that morning.
By the evening she'd told me about Spike having been in the basement of the school. When he showed up at the house after a near Sluggoth demon attack on an innocent, he offered to help and I asked how he did it. He asked what and I looked into his eyes. "How did you get a soul?"
He backed away and I grunted. "It's not yours, that much I can tell, so how did you get a soul that doesn't belong in your body? A demon bargain perhaps? Or something worse?"
He fidgeted and tried to leave so I let him, shaking my head and turning to the woman. "Ignore Spike, he's a vampire though he has a chip in his head that prevents him from hurting humans and apparently now a spanking new soul. Now, as for the worm demon, it's likely a Sluggoth demon and since they died out during the crusades, my having killed the last of them personally, odds are you made a wish to a vengeance demon because conjuring an extinct demon is insanely hard, but turning someone into one is relatively easy for a vengeance demon."
One trip to Anya at the Bronze later and and worm boy was human. A few days later we went to pick Willow and Tara up at the airport and the others couldn't see them. I stopped them from leaving, told Tara and Willow who could see me, that one or both of them was doing the spell subconsciously from fear and in no time flat they appeared before the others able to see each other again.
We welcomed them back and I asked Willow when we got to the house if she could try opening a portal with a thought. She said portals were big and I agreed, but I wanted to make sure raw magic was all she took from me. She tried and failed so I relaxed before telling her she didn't have the power of the infinity stones, but with the raw magic she contains her body would soon begin to immortalize, stopping her aging process.
That baffled them but I shrugged. "How else do you think magical beings become immortal? She sucked the entire magic shop dry, took the power of a dark warlock, took the magic I had stored in my body over countless eons and topped off with the power Giles brought. The fact that she hasn't exploded means her body has already begun to adjust to such extreme amounts of magic."
I sighed as I sat down. "I'm just glad you didn't draw in the power of the infinity stones that I had in me or this entire reality would crumbled in the resulting explosion."
Willow flinched and I waved her off when she apologized. "Eh, relax. I'm not mad, just relieved and surprised. Magically there are very few beings from my old reality that could outclass you now once you know how to use your power effectively. Still, there are demon lords and gods that can smack you down there and here so don't get cocky. Besides that, welcome back I guess. Though do take it easy on the desire thing. Too much emotion can trigger your powers and with the First around it can likely tap into all the dark magic in you if you let it and do some damage."
Willow asked hesitantly. "Could you stop me if you had to now?"
I nodded slowly. "I could, but it would kill you so it's a last resort sort of deal."
She relaxed far more saying good and that it was good I could stop her, not the dying part. The next day Xander found a body and showed Buffy who called me. I took a whiff and traced it back to a cave in the park. There we found a cave and I went in first.
The demon wasn't too happy when it's nails sparked off my skin and did nothing. I grabbed it by the throat and my claws pierced it's eyes into it's brain. It died instantly and Buffy said that was quick. I shrugged and we headed home while Xander called the cops on the dead human body at his work site.
