Asuna was washing dishes from their dinner at the apartment. When the night air drifted in through the kitchen window carrying the scent of the magnolia tree outside she found herself day dreaming about his face when he saw her in her wedding dress and the way he would kiss her in two days when she finally became his wife in the real world. The wedding was only two days away now and despite everyone's insistence that they must be getting nervous neither one of them did. When they thought about their wedding it just felt like an elaborate ceremony so that the world would know the commitment they had already made all those years ago when trapped in SAO.
Kirito was sitting on the couch searching through movie options when he got the call. She jumped when she heard him yelling in the other room. "How the hell did you let this happen again?!" He was pacing in the living room as he pretended to listen to whoever it was on the other end. "I'm not going to calm down asshole!"
Asuna just hid half of herself as she watched her soon to be husband fuming and cursing both loudly into the phone and under his breath. She'd seen that look on his face only a handful of times, and those times were usually in game. It was worse seeing his fear in the real world.
"God damnit! Don't call me back. I'll call you." He hung up and turned to see her as she slid out from behind the wall with a calm look.
"I'm going... for a ride. I'll be back soon." He started grabbing his black jacket and she caught it. They both pulled on the jacket.
"Why don't you stay here and tell me what that phone call was about instead." It wasn't a question. "I'm not comfortable with you riding when you're like this."
He jerked the jacket out of her hands. "I need to think before I tell you. I need to clear my head."
She beat him to the door, putting herself between him and the handle.
"Asuna—" He said through grit teeth.
"You can think and clear your head here." By the determined set of her eyebrows he knew he didn't have a chance in hell at beating her without hurting their relationship.
"I don't want to talk." He said as he threw his jacket back on to the couch. "And riding is one of the few ways I can clear my head IRL."
"Okay. We don't have to talk. How about you try something that helps me instead of riding a motorcycle while your heart rate is this erratic?" She held her phone up so he could see that his rage and panic was registering on the application he developed for them.
He growled a little that she was using his own invention against him... again.
"Fine. What do you do?"
She grabbed his wrist and started to pull his hand towards their bedroom. "Come on." She said with a gentle smile. She had him sit on the edge of the bed as she went into the bathroom and turned on the bath water.
"A bath?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "Asuna—"
"You're doing an awful lot of talking for someone who said they didn't want to talk." He arms were crossed as she leaned on the doorframe to the bathroom. "Just give it a try, it always helps me."
He stood up and headed towards the bathroom, grabbing her wrist as he entered. Without words he closed the door behind her and started to strip. Her cheeks flushed red. As much as she loved seeing his body, this wasn't her intention. She honestly did find baths relaxing and just wanted him to give it a shot.
"K-kirito... I wasn't trying to—" her words were cut off by his rough kiss. He kept her lips as he started to unbutton her jeans and lift the pink shirt she was wearing.
She stayed silent as he removed her clothes and he lead her into the bath with him.
One of the big draws for this apartment for Asuna was the big bathtub, although she didn't think she'd be using it before she officially moved in. The hot water filled the small bathroom with lavender scented steam from the bubbles she had added to it at the begging.
She sat behind him in the hot water and he rested his head on her chest with a dark cloud over his expression. She stroked his hair for awhile, waiting for his heart rate and breathing to settle. It took awhile for his body to relax against her but when he did she kissed his wet forehead.
Their fingers were pruny when he finally spoke again. His face finally turning to hers full of anguish and fear. "It's happening again. The death game— It's happening in North America."
