*(Short) Side Story* The Mind Palace

For those who are unaware, a Mind-Palace refers to both a real-life phenomenon as well as a phenomenon in this series. In reality, a Mind-Palace is merely a way to compartmentalize your knowledge. In this sense, it's like mnemonics for your entire brain.

In this series, a Mind-Palace refers to the owner of a Demonic System's "inner world", where the consciousness of themselves may touch upon the consciousness of their possessor, as well as interact with the System in non-standard ways. Different people have different Palaces, as you might as expect, and there is also interference based on their possessor and even their system.

Regardless, I digress. Onto the chapter!

___ ___

Whilst Levi was inhabiting George's body, George couldn't help but be engrossed with the collection of his own knowledge and memories. He sifted through chapters upon chapters of his own life, trying to find meaning. The subtle annoyances of his life before death seemed so long ago, and so trivial. In-spite of this, he continued reading about himself, wondering how Levi thought of him with this information.

"It's kind of... creepy. Like seeing yourself from third person."

-Ding! Answer: System registers all information registered by host from an objective point of view by undoing any memorial edits made by host upon attempts to remember said information. To this end, information stored in the host's mind-palace is more accurate than any other method, aside from perhaps video-graphic evidence.-

Once again, the System could be counted on to needlessly contribute with pointless exposition-

-Ding! Answer: Yes.-

...Sometimes, it really does seem like it has a consciousness of it's own.

-Ding! Answer:-

Although the System continued prattling on, George ignored it once-more and continued back on his own history. Seeing how his Uncle interacted with him in-particular became more alarming, as all the man's subtle quirks suddenly became far more menacing and apparent in their nature.

The man would constantly chew his fingernails or fall asleep in places deemed awkward. One time, during the man's own birthday, he managed to fall asleep on the grass in his own backyard. Now, if you were a cloudwatcher, this would be normal. But as an adult man currently undertaking a social event in his own honor...

Needless to say, many such things as this became far more apparent and sinister to George, as he slowly pieced together how deranged, or at least disturbed, that his uncle was.

"Why did none of us ever question these things? My family and I?"

Sitting back in a finely made leather chair, created from his own thoughts mimicking the one his Father would lounge-in when doing office-work; George was constantly asking questions such as these, to little or no answer... until-

-Ding! Answer: Host and Host's family adapted to the social interactions with designated target "Uncle Jeffrey". Such quirks and habits became near invisible to host exactly because they were always apparent.-

Although it was none-the-less disturbing, George relented, and sighed.

"I guess you should never take someone for granted."

-Ding! Answer: Correct. As a reward for Host coming to this conclusion alone, host's ownership of his soul will be recollected.-

"Huh...?"

-Ding! Answer: The more host recollects with his own consciousness, and soul, the more one can claim ownership of said soul. As a result, host has, in a sense, claimed ownership of host's soul via this method.-

Always and forever, this system was getting stranger.
