All the best

STAR HOTEL

Ling Fen woke up early that morning; it was already the day for the interview. She had never been a fan of make-up so she did not apply any. She wore the blue suit she had bought previously and matched it with black high-heeled shoes. Her overall presentation was simple yet smart.

The hotel that had accepted her request was known as Star Hotel. This was such a big name yet the hotel itself was not very large. Although it was not very big, it had a big reputation thanks to their main chef, Zhuang Li Yu.

Rumor had it that this chef was very strict but his meals were quite famous. He had even ranked number one in competitions, his number even above that of five star hotel chefs.

Although he was famous, he refused job offers from big hotels and continued to work at the small Star Hotel.

Ling Fen rushed downstairs and found Gong Xu and their mother sitting at the dining table waiting for her.

"I am done preparing." She said as she pulled on of the chairs then sat down and began on her breakfast.

"Have you carried everything you need?" Gong Xu asked while passing her the bread.

"Yes, I think I have everything I will need. I even printed two copies of each document. Don't worry too much." Anna said as she tore the bread into two and then stuffed one piece inside her mouth.

"I know you are going to be fine." Her mother said while passing her a towel to wipe off the crumbs that had fallen on her clothes.

Gong Xu clicked his tongue, "Can't you even eat properly?"

He turned the other way so that his pure eyes could not see the mess the other was creating with her food.

Star Hotel was quite a distance away. Gong Xu offered to go with her. All the way Ling Fen had not felt an ounce of tension yet when the bus came near and near her destination, she could not help but fidget in her seat.

Gong Xu noticed this. "So even you can get nervous? What a sight."

Ling Fen glared at him. "Who isn't nervous during an interview?" The question was rhetoric. Gong Xu only looked away without answering.

Although Star Hotel was small, the lobby space was quite large. Ling Fen handed over her information to the secretary who told her to wait for a moment.

There were other people in the lobby and by the looks of it; they had come for the interview as well. Ling Fen's tension rose sharply.

She had never found herself in such a position. Back then when she was still staying with Ling Wang and the rest, she had seen once her stepmother conducting interviews for the new workers. At that time the interviewees were fidgeting. At that time she could not understand what that was but now that she was in the same situation, she could put herself in their shoes.

Gong Xu only stood silently at the side. Some interviewees were conversing at the side;

"I had they are looking for a new chef, I hope they can pick me." One lady started. Her face was caked in make-up and she wore a little black skirt leaving people guessing if she was there for the interview or for something else.

The other lady she was standing with gave her a one-over before she turned around. The other felt insulted by this action and wanted to call her out but before she could, the secretary walked over with some tags with their numbers on them.

Ling Fen was number fifteen, the last person.

The first numbers entered one after the other but were sent out as first as they entered. Some of them came out in tears while others just picked up their bags in anger and left.

At noon, the interviews were postponed to 2 pm in the evening. Ling Fen took this chance to walk around and see the topography of the hotel.

Although the hotel was situated between two alleys, the place it was built was slightly raised making it higher than the rest of the buildings. It was two stories and the top had an open air deck. The decorations inside the hotel were simple and gave off a homey feel rather than that of big hotels.

She wanted to wander of further but Gong Xu called her in, it was finally her turn.

She took her documents and made her way inside but before she could open the door, she heard Gong Xu shout,

"All the best"
