The relief that Roselyn had felt after River left the dormitory soon disappeared when she walked out of her bedroom after getting dressed for her shopping trip and found the Crown Prince and Xander ready to kill each other.
The Crown Prince had Xander pushed against the living room wall with his hand wrapped around the latter's throat but at the same time, she noticed the dagger that Xander had placed against the Prince's throat.
Their eyes were glaring daggers at each other and the presence of powers in the air created a tension that could cut stones like butter.
Just what happened in the past ten minutes that she spent in her room getting showered and dressed?
The scene in front of her eyes was the last thing she was expecting to see. The Crown Prince trying to kill her newly appointed guardian and the said guardian pointing a dagger at the former's throat.
Once again she found herself getting curious about the identity of her mentor. All that she knew about him was that he belonged to the extinct race of Dark Elves and he was centuries old. His aura was nearly as strong as the one carried by the Dark Fae King whom she met during the councils' meeting.
"What are you doing here?" Xander asked the Prince.
"I'm not here for you." Came the response from the Crown Prince.
There was no doubt that there was some sort of history between these two men and Roselyn sensed something more... more than just the anger, bitterness, and grudge that they were currently portraying.
"Am I disturbing you guys?" She wasn't sure why she tried to help but as the two men turned their scorching gazes at her, she definitely regretted doing it.
Crown Prince Felix was the first one to let go as he stepped away from Xander who too stood up straight and the dagger disappeared from his hand into the thin air.
"Again, what are you doing here, Your Highness? You are no longer a student at the academy." The unhappiness and frustration were clear in Xander's voice and he did absolutely nothing to hide them. He wanted the Crown Prince to know that he wasn't welcomed there even though the dormitory belonged to the Royal family.
Prince Felix completely ignored the question as he took steps closer in the direction of Roselyn. "I'm here to give you this." He took out a small box from somewhere and showed it to her.
"What is it?" Roselyn asked as she resisted the urge to take a couple of steps back to create more space between herself and the Crown Prince. Though no sparks were flying between their eyes anymore considering they both were barely looking at each other's faces, the energy was still there.
The man opened the box and showed her the beautiful pendant that was sitting inside it, made of pure silver with a little glass ball in the middle filled with dark blue liquid. Even from the distance, she could feel the ancient and powerful energy of the locket.
"It's a protection charm..." The Prince started speaking but she didn't give him enough time to complete his nonsense.
"An ancient charm that you all want to use to tame me and my powers because you all are worried that I'll break the spells that you have put on me to keep me separated from my powers. This locket is a tracker, an assurance to you all that I won't get out of your clutches unless you will allow me." Her voice was filled with bitterness as she glared at the man.
She felt her anger rising with every passing second and a tug of war started inside her as her powers struggled against the binding spells. She wasn't an idiot, she won't be fooled by them so easily.
The person who should be held responsible for all her mishappenings was the bloodsucker who couldn't keep his fangs in check. He was the one who broke the rules and created all the problems. He should be the one getting punished, instead, she was suffering the most.
Not only they had trapped her in their dark realm but she was also forced to attend the Shadow Academy. And if all this wasn't already enough, they had also cut her off from her light powers. Never in her entire life did she feel this restrained, and now it had started to play with her mind.
"Damn it! Her powers are breaking through the binding spells..." Xander shouted in alarm as he noticed the powerful energy sizzling in the air as it started growing with every passing second.
"Roselyn, you need to calm down." Crown Prince Felix stated as he took a step closer to her but stopped when a jolt of her power pushed him away.
Her powers were almost free from the binding spells and the inferno of frustration that had been brewing inside her since the previous day was ready to burst out. There was a huge possibility that the Elite quarters would have disappeared if she really had the chance to blow up the place.
However... everything around her stopped when a pair of cold lips landed against her mouth and she was pulled into a deep kiss.
Everything happened so suddenly, one moment she was ready to break free from the remaining strands of the binding spell and finally show the shadow realm that they couldn't tame her so easily and the very next moment the inferno building inside her went totally silent as all her attention was pulled towards the kiss.
His lips were cold against her warm ones and it sent a different type of sensation soaring through her body. One of his hands was cupping her face while she felt the other on her waist as he pulled her closer to his own body.
Roselyn found her body brimming with not-so-familiar energy that tempted her to return the kiss and accept the connection that she felt brewing between her and the person who was kissing her. But a little voice in the back of her mind tried to remind her of her reality.
Her eyes flew open and the first thing she noticed was the Ice blue eyes that were staring right at her. She immediately recognized the man who used the kiss as a diversion from her anger and it was none other than Crown Prince Felix.
