What am I to you?

Julie decided that she had to give herself some self-respect and finally gaze away from Steven. She then withdrew her head from Daniel's chest. "I am sorry!" Julie said awkwardly. She glances at Steven, and Daniel's eyes follow her. His sight rested on his boss, and it was crystal clear to him.

Daniel realized that he got caught in a love triangle that he knew nothing about at that moment.

He then focused on Julie's face, and it seemed like she was the pathetic one in this triangle. Daniel could not stand the sadness in her eyes and tried to help her out of this uncomfortable situation. "Are you okay?" He said, placing his hand on her cheek and passionately wiping the tears from her eyes with his finger. Julie gazed at his expression, and Daniel did not seem cheerful anymore. Instead, he appeared concerned. She smiled and nodded her head.

Steven stood frozen as he watched another man be there for Julie the way he should have and felt sorry for himself. Steven rested his hands on Chloe's hands and gently removed them off his waist. Then he held her hand in his and carried her along with him. They passed Julie, and Steven directed his eyes forward as he walked out of the building. Steven would not have handled his emotions like a gentleman if he had glimpsed at her. Steven continued moving as he tried not to imagine what expression Julie had on her face. Chloe turned and looked at Julie as Steven pulled her out of the building.

He stopped when they had walked a block, and Chloe bumped into him. "Ouch!" She cried, then hit him on the back. Steven did not show any remorse or signs of pain. His mind remained focused on ideas to be used to fix the confusion he created between him and Julie. "I can bring her a gift." "Maybe I should call her and say I am sorry countless times." "Or I can send her a text message. Nope, that's not sincere." Steven's mind kept exhausting all his options for a way to apologize to Julie. "Steven, watch out!" Chloe said as she saw him walk towards the moving traffic. Steven came to himself and saw that he was at the edge of the sidewalk, about to step on the main road.

Steven drew his leg back and stood on the footpath. "Thank you," he replied. "You are welcome," Chloe said with a grin. Steven returned a smile and stretched out his hand, waving it in the air. "Taxi!" He screamed. Chloe felt confused about who needed a cab. "What are you doing?" She asked as the car stopped in front of them. "Get in!" Steven ordered her. Chloe got in obediently. She understood he was not kidding with her when he started using his dominant tone.

"I will talk to you later. For now, let's take some time apart." He explains. Chloe stared at him and knew that there was no point in arguing with him. At this moment, his eyes were full of stubbornness. "Okay," she answers, and Steven shuts the door. He gives her fare to the driver and walks away. Chloe watched from the back glass as the man who once loved her shadow faded in the crowds.

"Thank you, and I am sorry for using you as a shield," Julie told Daniel as they sat down in the lobby seats. "What are you sorry about, Julie? I wanted to get used as a shield. Shields is the coolest and most stable weapon. Especially Wonder Woman Shield, it is lit. Plus, she is so brave like you." He replied with a smile. His smile made her feel like when she wakes up on Christmas morning. "If that's the case, then thank you for being my shield," Julie responded as she giggled.

Daniel laughs out loud, and Julie thought he had the cutest laugh. "How can I repay you oh mighty shield?" She said in a deep and humorous voice. Daniel did not reply for a few minutes. He had this mysterious expression on his face that Julie could not describe. "Well, there's this place where I always go to eat my favorite food, and the menu is exciting. But I have never had the chance to take someone with me to try it out. If you don't mind, I would like to take you there." Daniel replied.

Julie did not answer. Her smile slightly dimmed, and she turned her head in the opposite direction. "Oh, you do mind. I am sorry. I should have known it was too soon. Stupid, stupid Daniel, you just had to ruin the great atmosphere with your silly talk. Julie, please take it as though I didn't say anything." He said, scolding himself. Julie chuckles and faces him. "Let's do it!" She replied. Daniel lit up and beamed. "Are you sure I mean I don't want you to feel suppressed or anything? We don't need to go if you don't feel like it." He stated.

Julie places her finger to his lips to stop him from talking. He looked into her sparkling dusty brown eyes and grinned. "Can you stop talking and let's do this?" She replied. Daniel raised his eyebrows and widened his eyes. He felt shocked that she wanted to go now. Daniel knows it's still morning, and they need to be in their office at this hour. However, when he sees that excitement on her face, he can't help himself but agree with her.

"What are you waiting for?" Julie asked as she stood up and extended her hand to aid him in standing up. Daniel accepted help and held on to her hand as he got up. They ran out of the building hand in hand and got into a taxi. Steven spotted them as he approached the company. He became crazy with rage and ran toward his vehicle.

As they sat in the car, Daniel understood that what was happening between him and Julie was not real, because people make hasty decisions when they become outraged. And this was all it was, Julie making a poor choice because she got hurt. Though Daniel wished it was real, he did not plan on forcing her into something she did not want. For now, he only wants to make her smile and see where it goes from there.
