Let's divorce

After Jennie entered Jackson's room, he followed her in and shut the door behind him.

"You and her?" Jennie mumbled while sadly staring Jackson in his eyes.

It took a moment of hesitation for Jackson to stiffly smiled and said, "We are just co-parenting."

It grew silent between them. Then Jennie walked over to the bed, sat down on the mattress, and mumbled, "You are a dad. That was something you always wanted, and it hurt so bad that I am not the one who made you a father."

"Believe me, that's exactly how I felt when I walked into that room and saw you with your son. It hurt, it hurt so bad that I felt like I couldn't breathe, like the air I was inhaling was suffocating me." Jackson calmly intoned.

As her hand gently caressed the sheet, Jennie ushered her eyes closed and took in a deep breath. Then she stared at Jackson and said, "But you don't feel that way now."

"What?" Jackson mumbled in confusion.

Holding back her tears as she stared away from his calm eyes, Jennie pitifully sighed and said, "I know that it sounds selfish, but when you were explaining just now, there was no emotion in your voice. It's like you were just talking and not feeling."

"And that's bad because?" Jackson asked with less care in his tone.

Even though he knew those words were harsh, he did want lead her on.

A tear rolled down Jennie's face, but she hastily wiped it and softly cried, "If you show the tiniest bit of emotion then I won't feel so useless for holding onto my feelings for you, and I wouldn't be so hopeless even though I want to be hopeful."

Without losing his calm appearance, Jackson walked over to the bed and sat down beside Jennie. Then he took her hand in his, and softly smiled at her when she gazed at him.

"I was clear from the very start. There's nothing for you to be hopeful about, Jennie. I am sorry, so sorry that I can't make myself love you again because if I could, I would. I loved you so much. Damn, I could have even die for you if you want me to." Jackson gently said while looking directly into her eyes.

"You can still love me, we just have to try again. This time will be different…" Jennie cried as she squeezed onto his hand.

Even though Jackson knew exactly what his next words were going to do to Jennie, he understood that it needed to get said.

"Yes it will be different, but not in a good way. The years we spent happily together are more than the bad moments, and yet, those moments have completely destroyed those years that I spent loving you. I can't fix it. My heart is too broken when it comes to you." Jackson softly uttered, feeling nothing but pity towards her.

As tears rushed down her face, Jennie withdrew her hand from Jackson's grip and shouted, " It is all because of her, right? You are in love with her, that's why you won't even try to give us a chance!"

"What are you talking about?" Jackson asked while striving to not lose his cool.

In a fate of rage, Jennie stood up and coldly said, "I saw the look in your eyes when you gazed at her. You had that same look the first day we met, and you have been staring at me like that until recently!"

"Me filing for divorce has nothing to do with Miya! When did she even become a subject in this matter? How about your affair with your boss? Yeah, that's something you should be talking about." Jackson replied while getting off the mattress.

"That's not fair! I only got involved with Leon because of you!"

A laugh escaped Jackson's lips, but it was filled with pain, anger, and hate.

"You and your lover seemed to enjoy blaming others for your affair. So please! Please enlighten me on how I forced the woman that I loved into another man's bed!" Jackson yelled.

No one spoke as everyone sat quietly, yet the living room grew nosy with the echoes of Jackson and Jennie's screams, and even though nobody could make out what they were saying, everyone knew it was an intense fight going on between them.

Jackson's words caught Jennie off guard, causing her anger to swerve with panic, and when she saw the rage in his eyes, it only grew her fear.

"Where did I go wrong in our marriage for you to find comfort in another man's bed? Tell me please!" Jackson shouted as his chest burned with anger.

"I wasn't looking for comfort! I was trying to help you. When Jack almost caused the company to go bankrupt, I could see the stress in you every single day when you got home from work." Jennie yelled.

Then she paused as her memories came rushing back to her.

"So you did what? Slept with Leon to get the money to help the company get back on its feet?" Jackson sarcastically asked.

But when he got only silence from her, it felt like a sharp blazed had just gashed all his emotional wounds open.

"Don't you… Don't you dare make this my fault? I told you to stay the hell out of it! The company was my and Steven's responsibility. Ours, not yours! We didn't need your damn money after all!" Jackson shouted while his eyes became watery, then his tongue rolled around in his mouth as he fought back his tears.

"I knew how much the company meant to you guys and I just wanted to help. I thought…" Jennie tried to explain, and yet her excuse didn't make sense to her like it did the day she slept with Leon.

A chuckle escaped Jackson's lip. Then he aggressively sniffed and angrily said, "Did you think about us! What you were doing to our marriage! How your action was going to affect us!"

"No. No, I didn't. I am sorry."

"Jennie, the damage is already done. Sorry, I'm not going to fix this! It's never going to make what you did right! I never asked you to give yourself to Leon."

"Jackson!"

"You… you did it at your own will and that hurt, not because I still love you but because all this could have been prevented from the beginning if you would have been honest with me."

The room fell silent as Jennie tears ran down her face and pain flowed in Jackson's eye. Then Jennie looked up at Jackson and said, "Fine, let's divorce. It's clear that we can't work anymore."
