At last we arrived at what seemed to be my Gram gram's house. It was a rustic country ranch, and it seemed like it could only fit two people inside at most. The outside was a delicate yellow, the color was as vibrant as flowers and yet as gentle as flower petals. I was very excited. I couldn't contain myself, I ran up to the door and made sure my dress and bow was on straight and finally at long last, knocked on the door.
"Coming! Coming…."
She opened the door, and when I saw her, she looked just as I always remembered. She was tall but feeble for her age, and she had to wear glasses that made her eyes look almost as big as her head. She was wearing a lavender purple dress, with a bow on her head, like mine. When she saw me she gasped.
"Oh my!"
I could see the tears welling up in her eyes. I wasn't sure if they were because she was so happy to see me, or if it was because she knew that I was no longer alive. I clasped my arms around her and squeezed her. She sniffled.
"What are you doing here mija!? You're supposed to be living a full and enjoyable life! You shouldn't be… you know…."gone"."
"I know, its alright, you have no reason to worry. I'm here now, aren't I? And now that I ended up in heaven, nothing bad should happen to me, right?"
She smiled faintly. She had a slight spanish accent, so you could tell that she was not only American, her parents came from Puerto Rico, anyway.
"Well...I guess that's true. Anyway, who are these handsome, strapping young men?"
"Graaam! Really…?"
"What? I'm just saying they are very handsome, you ought to marry one of these boys. You'd make a fine couple, I'm sure your kids would be very pretty too...~"
Nigel and Zachary both blushed and avoided eye contact with me.
"OKAY, THAT'S ENOUGH! ANYWAY! Gram Gram, this is Zachary, and this is Nigel."
Zachary held out his hand, "Hello, Ma'am. Nice to meet you."
Nigel bowed down, "It's a real pleasure to finally meet you. Miss Jessica has told us quite a lot about you."
"Really! Well I am flattered, and genuinely honored to meet you both. Come in, come in! I wasn't expecting visitors so excuse the mess…. "
The inside of her house looked almost exactly the same as her old house. In the entrance there is my Gram's beautiful and expensive fine China. And in the kitchen was a picture of me and her, my first time ever helping her bake and learning about baking when I was only 4 and a half years old. When I saw that I couldn't help but smile. Everything about her house was so familiar, all the sights, and even smells! I could smell pastries and sweets, and I could see them all lined up on her kitchen counter. Oh, how I wish I was as good a baker as my Gram. Something brushed up against my leg and I shivered. It was my Gram Gram's cat, Pig! I cried with joy when I saw that Pig was with her.
"I can't believe that Pig is here! I missed this cat so much~!"
Pig head-butt me in the face, and started purring like a motor.
"Awww, what a sweet cat! I hope I get to see my cat soon.~"
Nigel stepped forward and started to scratch Pig behind his ears.
"Isn't he just a big furry ball of love."
Pig was a beautiful white Scottish Fold, and when he was born something went wrong with his tail, it was deformed. He had to get part of it taken off because it was curling into a weird spiral and he was in danger of getting an infection where the bones were broken. Now all that's left is a little curly tail that looks like a pig's tail, hence the name. Zachary seemed more distracted by something else. He was sitting on the ground and he seemed to be growling at something as if he were a dog. I put Pig down and glanced around the corner. Again, I cried with joy when I saw that it was Gram Gram's other pet. His name was Spot, and he was a black Pug, but I ended up naming him Spot because he had a little tan spot on his ear. I think we ended up playing with the pets for an hour or so when Gram Gram asked me to sit down with her.
"What's up Gram?"
"I'm sure you've already heard but, there is another "person" living here with me,"
"Um...yes, I did hear and I am quite curious to find out,"
"Well, ah…. We actually met after I passed, and this kind gentleman is my angel, like you have your, uh…..two."
She smiled and I blushed.
"I thought we weren't supposed to fall in love with our angels, though?"
She sighed, "I know, I know, but we are supposed to keep it a secret until we can persuade the High Councilwoman to change the rules. I mean, it's heaven, aren't you supposed to get everything you desire...?"
We laughed, as a man that looked to be about Grandma's age stepped out of the hallway and into the living room. He actually looked just like Gram, except a male version of her. Only now, did I notice that Nigel and Zachary have wings, while this man didn't. (Wasn't he supposed to be Grandma's angel?)
"Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Jessica, I'm Daisy's granddaughter."
"My name is Rob I'm Daisy's angel. You probably noticed that don't have wings, I usually hide my wings whenever we have visitors just in case. Anyway, It's so nice to finally meet you! I've heard so much about you, you're almost all Daisy talks about."
We laughed. After our introductions we talked for what seemed like only 10 minutes, when in reality I knew we had been talking for over 2 hours. By the time me and Rob were finishing our conversation it was already almost dinner time, I realized, as Gram Gram said, "Dinner's ready!!"
We all were excited that we got to eat her food, and since she was Puerto Rican, she made us spanish Rice and beans. I had at least 2 servings and was so full by the time that Gram had put dessert on the table. I was the most ecstatic for her dessert, because we all know that baking is her specialty. She had created a lemon meringue pie, the crust around it was flaky and a crispy golden brown, and the muerange was also golden on the peaks. She had also made us some chocolate cupcakes, with caramel and butterscotch buttercream. They were so pretty, none of us even touched them until Gram Gram said, "What are you waiting for, I don't want my baking to go to waste! Mi familia needs to eat~!"
By the end of dinner we had all stuffed ourselves silly, except for Gram Gram because she was on a "special diet" because she "needed to lose weight". Her weight was exceptional for her age and height, though I never really did understand why old women fret over their weight.
We took the helicopter back to my house, and on the way there Nigel said," Are you happy to know that you have some family here?"
"Oh, of course! I was so upset at first because I wasn't sure and was scared I wouldn't be able to see anyone that was family, but at least now I know I can see Gram more often."
I sighed, and I looked out the window to see a full moon, and a beautiful city.
"Wow, that is one amazing view…~" I said, as I drifted off into sleep.
