A huge dome was now visible to us in the distance. It looked so clean, unlike the streets which were dirty.
"That is it. The Capital." Hunter said.
"Is that containing the entirety of London?" I asked.
"No, but most of it, probably." Hunter answered.
"Let's see it for ourselves." I said.
"Well, just so you know, this is the first time I'm going into the dome." Hunter said.
I didn't know how to respond to that, so I just smiled.
We kept walking towards the big shiny dome. I had a strange feeling about the place. All of a sudden I felt like going back.
"Did I tell you about the pacification field?" Hunter asked.
"No, you haven't."
"In the dome, there is a pacification field. Works on most people so they don't get aggressive. I'm not sure if it will work on us or not." Hunter explained.
"That's surprising. Advanced tech." I said.
"Too much advanced tech. You will get to see them." Hunter responded.
"Huh. Interesting."
As we got closer and closer the feeling of letting go and returning got stronger and stronger.
"You feel weird too?" Hunter asked.
"Yeah. But let's keep it up." I said. "We have to."
"We won't stop. Not after all this way." Hunter added.
We started running towards the dome because we felt sick and didn't want to stop moving.
Then finally we reached the gate. It was heavily guarded. About thirty guards I would say, at least that's what I could see.
"Hold it savages. What is it you seek in The Capital?" Asked a guard.
"Fame and fortune my friend. Fame and fortune." Said Hunter.
"Go inside. We will have to disarm you two before you continue. Whenever you want to leave you can get your gear back." The guard replied.
We went to a small room where we dropped our weapons. Hunter quickly grabbed my revolver and hid it in his boots alongside his revolver. A guard followed us after a minute or so. My heart was beating fast.
'What if he sees the revolvers?' I asked myself.
"First timers?" Asked the guard.
"We won't have to leave. We will win." Hunter answered.
"Brothers?"
"Indeed. Why would we risk all we have together then?" Hunter said with a smile.
"Very well sir. There is a map of The Capital to your left as soon as you go through the gate. It would be better if you went to meet The Master too." The guard said.
"Where is The Master?" I asked.
"Every info you need, you will find it on the map."
"Much appreciated friend." Said Hunter.
"Thanks mate." I said.
"Happy to serve." He replied.
We went out through the door we came in from and went past the guards.
"Move along." Said the one who called us savages.
We went through the gate. Inside the dome was gorgeous. It looked like a perfect city at first glance. I was out of words to describe it.
"Fame and fortune?" I asked.
"There is a lottery being held at The Capital tonight. And they are going to let almost everyone in so people lose more and more, and The Capital gain more and more." Hunter explained. "They want to further weaken the Free Side."
"Cold-blooded bastards." I said.
"Indeed." He started. "Let's look here." Hunter said as he went to a big stand.
Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a map of the dome. They had everything a normal city had before the virus.
"They have a barber shop. You need to trim your beard and I need to cut my hair." Hunter said.
"Don't partner. It looks nice, suits you." I said.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yeah." I answered.
"Well then let's go meet this Master guy." Hunter said as he pointed to the northern part of the map. That' where the Master's office was located.
We went northwards through the city, we took in the beauty of it and how clean it actually was compared to the world outside.
There were trees and grass all around the pathways. Some other gardens specifically made for roses or other plants too. It looked like a self sustained city, one that produces their own food and clean water through the wells scattered around the city's gardens. There also were gardeners working on the gardens to help keep them clean and watered.
"Isn't this a joy to look at?" I asked.
"It sure is partner." Hunter replied.
"Hunter, I will go meet the Master and you go get us some good food. I will wait for you here when I finish and you wait for me here when you finish. Deal?" I suggested.
"Deal. Don't let the Master bite you." He joked as we both giggled a bit.
Before he went he slipped my revolver back to me and I slipped it quickly into my right boot. And with that Hunter went to the large cluster of stores and restaurants in the western side of the dome to grab some food for us. I started making my way to the Master's office.
I saw a big sign that said 'THE MASTER'S OFFICE'. Couldn't miss it.
I giggled a bit before I opened the door. There was a woman sat at an office table with a computer and a lot of papers in front of her.
"Good afternoon sir. how may I assist you?" She said very politely.
I was kinda taken off-guard because everyone I met after waking up from the coma was either rude to me or trying to kill me.
"I would like to meet the Master. If convenient." I said as polite as I could.
"Sure, good sir. You may go to his office." she said as she pointed to an open door.
"Thank you." I said as I went to the open door.
I knocked before entering. The Master was sat with his back to the door.
"Hello?" I said.
"Took you long enough to get here little bro."
These words made me freeze in my place. The hair on the back of my neck stood. I didn't want to believe it but there he was. Ben sat as the Master in The Capital.
"What is it Daniel? Surprised to see me? Did you miss me?" He said as he turned around with a big smile on his face.
"Ben?"
