A huge expanse.

*Yawn.*

Man, I feel refreshed! I didn't think actually sleeping could bring this effect, nor did I think I would get that tired. Oh well, no sense in wasting so much time on my inner dialogue, let's get this day started.

Uh.

What should I do? I mean I guess I should explore, but where should I go? I guess I should just tunnel around until I find something. Hup!

----

As I tunnel, around an hour passes. It gets really confusing to separate my inner dialogues like this, it's so confusing. Oh well, as I was digging I discovered… absolutely nothing new. I'm absolutely certain that I haven't discovered everything this layer has to offer but I haven't discovered anything beyond the usual offspring tunnel or intersection, where tunnels overlap to create a big room. Of course, I have encountered some new monsters, namely one fucking breed that seems neverending. The crawling mosquito.

These things are so scary I damn near shit myself upon my first encounter. Like, imagine a mosquito, but without wings. And it drags itself across tunnels through two tiny ass legs in the front. That stinger in the back? It extends and whips around to pierce the enemy. So far I have avoided them, they are quite weak individually, but that's where my problem comes in. These things don't go out alone. Period. The bastards form up into groups of five or more, and that's the scouting party. I saw a poor nine-legged spider get swarmed after defeating a scouting party, and it was murdered by almost fifty of those nefarious monsters. It's not very confidence-inspiring.

It's also worth mentioning that the nine-legged spider wasn't exactly weak either. I mean, sure, he was weaker than my glorious persona, but not by a whole lot. I have yet to come up with a method to counter these creatures and so far my only option is to dig into the nearest tunnel wall and hope they can't sting me through it. Not the best or most courageous choice, but I tend to value my life.

Alright, back to the present-ish. I'm still digging but the view up ahead looks promising. Well, I'm using 'looks' very liberally. I feel the presence of void up ahead, basically meaning an open space is in that direction. How can I tell? Void power is easier to sense without a physical obstruction obviously. What else? It's not like I have omniscience. I'm not from a novel author or anything.

Alright, let's not mess around and push forward. Oh. Damn, that is huge. As I tunnel out farther and farther, I can sense a huge expanse ahead. I'm at the edge of it and there's still no end. A couple of worms further and guess what greets my worm face? An underground paradise.

A forest, to be more precise. And not one my size. To clarify, these trees alone are more than 30 times my size according to my modest estimate. I don't even poke out from the underbrush. Or the grass is just that tall. Not the problem. What is the problem? The huge amount of life here. Or the strength of that life. I have stumbled upon hell disguised as a paradise.
