Well, this bites.

Well, this bites. I mean good lord Jeremy, all I did was snap one twig and this massive hunk of wood barges out. What is my luck? Like seriously, I can't even tell its strength, not to mention what it might be. Okay well, a tree would be my first guess.

Hup.

Damn! I am busy inner monologuing when the tree monster swipes one of its massive arms at me. I don't even think before jumping to the right and barely dodging. I do not want to get hit by something I don't know the strength of.

Holy Crap when does this thing stop?! I just got swiped at again. This time I almost got hit as well, and judging from the huge gash in the ground I don't want to be! It left a hole longer than the width of my body!

That being said, it's not that stronger than me, or at least not by an undefeatable margin. As long as I don't get hit I may be able to wear it down. Let's go!

Fully focused, I finally attack the tree monster with my mouth, executing an almost flawless bite.

Ouch! Why does it hurt so much?! Okay, maybe biting wood isn't such a good idea.

With the first hit going to me, I'm starting to feel a little more confident. I can win this! I worm my way around the big guy, barely dodging another one of its swipes as I gather some void magic in preparation for a big attack.

Phew! This is the first time I'm actually using magic, and damn I did not think it would take this much concentration! As I try to form the void matter into a spear shape, I once again narrowly avoid a strike from the tree monster, who seems to only know how to swipe its huge arms down at me, though it is really effective. Phew, this magic is really hard...

Finally! Done! After barely forming a semi-stable spearhead, I lunch it at an arm of the huge tree monster. Holy Jeremy that is effective. The spear came out with a spinning force and drilled through the tree guy's arm before exploding and vanishing with half of the arm it hit! Not to mention what's left of that arm isn't going to be so useful besides giving a few splinters hehe.

All joking aside, While it looks like I'm winning, I'm now in a really bad position. I concentrated pretty much all of my mana into that one attack, and while it was super effective, it put a huge strain on me. I'm now almost completely out of mana, not to mention the mental burden that magic was to cast. I'm tired and this battle is nowhere near over.

Roar!

Oh shit. The big hunk of wood isn't scared at all from my display of prowess and instead seems to be pretty ticked off. This isn't looking good at all.

Wham!

Oh, the tree guy really is mad. Now, instead of trying to just hit me with its arms, it has decided to use its feet. And its feet are huge! And fast! My quick reactions are barely able to dodge and I still get scrape literally everywhere as it sends dirt, grass, and wood flying! Now I have scratches literally everywhere on my worm self and that does nothing to help my quickly worsening situation. What do I do Jeremy?!

Screech!

The tree golem suddenly lets out a piercing scream that completely disorients me. Shocked, I can't quite dodge and boy do I regret that. I mean seriously, I just got fucking scratched by the monster's foot coming down, and it hurts!

Alright, David, calm down and think. Oh, nevermind I just lost half of my bristles on the left side. Let's not even talk about the searing pain on that side, I'm pretty sure I just got murdered there. Well. What am I supposed to do now?

Panicking, I take out all of my mana for a last-ditch attempt to do something, anything. At this point I'm in no position to think, the mix of adrenaline and pain has gotten to me, so I just take my mana and release it.

Poof.

[New Skill: Void Shift]

Wait, what? Oh hey, I'm still alive! WOO! I made it! Actually what happened anyway? Where am I, and where did that monster go? Oh well, I'm not in a position to think right now. I need to hide before something else stumbles across me.

Tired and barely awake, I drag my body upward before activating terraform and diving into the ground. Once inside I go down about eight meters before curling up and passing out. I've done what I can, now it's time to see if I recover.

[Well, this bites.]
