Quick trap

"My bloodline is pure? What do you mean by that?" Before Vilded could ask, Moonlight had already advanced forward and asked, only for the shaman to confirm his judgement.

Vildred stepped back and leaned against the tree with his eyes closed. It seems like I'm given time to have a short rest.

The other seven 2nd tier monsters hesitated for a moment, but soon agreed after the shaman talked to them briefly.

Vildred waited at the side patiently knowing that Moonlight would explain everything to him later.

As time passed, he realised that Moonlight was getting more shocked by his own identity as time passed. Fire was looking at Moonlight with eyes widened whilst Veil actually kept some distance between them.

After a while, Fire also kept some distance after Veil signalled for it to. No explanation was needed, reverance for a stronger bloodline was in their bloodline, that was how the world of monsters work. Just like how one's birth could impact their life.

Unique cases also apply those that grow stronger exponentially like the Phoenix.

After Moonlight managed to collect his thoughts, he approached Vildred and explained everything.

Apparently, the Moonlight wolf was part of a greater branch among monsters known as the Moonlight branch. Among all the monsters, they were one of those that held great authority and all of them, had the potential to take on the human form.

That was also the reason why the other leaders were willing to lower their position, in exchange for strength, they decided that the trade was worth it.

The trade was a long-term plan, but the monsters wanted the chance to develop. Even if taking on human form wasn't possible, they wanted to at least reach their peak potential.

It was a win for both parties. The monsters gained the chance to grow stronger, Vilderd gets to build up his first official army.

"I know that none of you here understand my words, but from today onwards, you guys will be under Moonlight."

The monsters didn't have to understand the exact meaning of his words, they knew his intention and that was enough.

With this, the first army under Vildred was established and even though it was weak, it would suffice for now unless the guild masters themselves made a move.

Moonlight might only be at the 2nd tier still, but he was already capable of contending against the average 3rd tier monsters and maybe even adventurers.

"Moonlight, assemble all of the monsters here and get them to retreat to the dungeon. We'll lure the adventurers into the dungeon and set up ambushes everywhere."

"Yes master."

In the meantime, the adventurers had already begun their raid.

Leading them was a 2nd tier paladin at the fifth phase bottleneck, he was also the person with the strongest strength among the adventurers here.

(Secondary tiers such as paladins are divided into two major tiers, 2nd and 3rd)

The leader of the expedition Rase stopped in his tracks when he realised that nothing around them was moving, the only audible sounds were him and the adventurers.

"Has anyone made any discoveries yet?" The paladin that goes by the name Rase asked around upon realising that something was amiss.

"Nope, the air has been still since we entered."

"There were no sounds from any direction besides us."

"Ever since we entered, the only signs of life were the innocent animals."

"I see…"

"Paladin Rase, did you make some discoveries?" Asked a mature woman with a black longbow behind her back. She was the top archer in the Sunset town.

Her looks were average, but she had a captivating aura towards her. Especially that oversized black longbow behind her back that was almost as large as her body.

"Not yet sniper Kise, but I do have some guesses." Rase replied as he gathered the soldiers around him.

Soon, after all the adventurers present gathered together, he asked a simple question. "Did any of you discover a dungeon?"

Back in the dungeon, Vildred had planned out the layout of the monsters after changing his dungeon layout.

There were currently six turns one had to make before reaching the core area of his dungeon. Though it was supposed to be complicated, the complexity of the dungeon is also dependent on the dungeon master himself.

Vildred attempted to make the dungeon more complicated, but it wasn't possible with the current amount of dark essence that he possessed. As such, he made an intelligent change to his plan.

He would open up eight paths that lead to the core area, a direct path with only one turn. That way, he would be able to utilise the full of his Moonlight army.

On every path, he would have an army lurking around at the corner to make the first move. This strategy however had high risks and if things don't go well, he's endangering the entire platoon on that path.

(Platoon refers to one part of the army)

Whilst the adventurers would be anticipating ambushes, they would have never expected it to occur at the first and only turn. Usually, the first turn would only be a teaser at best, that was the mentality Vildred was targeting.

Vildred wasn't foolish, considering the scale of this war, there would definitely be experienced adventurers in the dungeon, that was the reason behind this plan of his.

After everything was planned out, he called for Moonlight and got him to share the plan with everyone.

Seven of the eight leaders agreed immediately, but the Shaman hesitated and actually spoke the human language.

"Master, we should open up a ninth path." His voice was ancient and hoarse, but each word was articulated perfectly.

Vildred was surprised, but he didn't pursue this matter further.

"What is the reason behind the ninth path?"

"I want the ninth path to be the middle path without any turns, the Moonlight wolf and your fire slime should be arranged onto the middle path while you stay in the core area to dispatch us easily."

Vildred paused, smiling when he understood the reason behind this arrangement.

"Shaman, you do understand the risk behind this plan of yours?"

"Of course, but it's definitely worth the risk considering the strength of the Moonlight wolf, that's the best we can do for now at least."

"Very well then."

With this, the eight platoons took up their respective positions expecting the adventurers to arrive soon. And they did.

"I need eight theives to scout the paths ahead." Rase instructed as eight thieves stepped out from their team and waited for the next command.

Klauw in the meantime just sat back, too lazy to make a move.

"Do you need me to scout the middle path?" From behind Rase, an assassin walked out.

Instead of saying he walked out, he had appeared out of nowhere. It was as though he appeared out of thin air.

"Of course." Rase replied shortly, but his eyes were saying something else.

Nodding his head, the assassin stood before the middle path. Saying in a deep tone, "all thieves, stay safe."

"Yes." The thieves replied in unison as their body entered the dungeon. Oblivious to them, their stealth was non-existent to those second tier monsters.

"Paladin Rase, it has already been a few seconds, should we…"

"Ahh!"

"Monsters!"

"Help!"

Before Kise could finish her question, screams after screams came from the different passageways. It wasn't a few, but all of the passageways.

As for the middle path, it was silent.

It seems like even he is having trouble. Rase wondered to himself whilst commanding the soldiers to enter the paths as an army.

They would split their manpower into eight groups with a balanced number of 1st and 2nd tier adventurers. It was a simple party, but reasonable in this case.

As for the middle path, he would have to take it on with Kise and his brother.

Klauw at this time however was still thinking about food, only for Drasnek to tug on his shoulders. Their group was arranged to the second passageway and that included them.

"Let's hope you don't die in there." Wren walked past as he entered the third passageway with his party.

"Ignore him, we should get going as well." Drasnek advised as they followed their party into the passageway.

Vildred was currently on his seat with nine screens, it was a projection of what was going on out there. It wasn't a function he should have access to yet, but the Shaman had willingly used its mana to assist him.

What he said then was, "Let me do it, my passageway will be the only one without any casualties."

The shaman was confident and Vildred trusted him.

"Now then adventurers, the fun begins now."
