EVERY KILLER HAS A MESSAGE

A heavy downpour of rain was forecasted by the late-night news the previous night and this prediction did not seem to disappoint.

It was indeed raining cats and dogs the next day, but it did little to stop Anton from coming over to Santina's office first thing in the morning.

Santina invited him into her faculty office to discuss his assistantship to her, and so the young man was once again reunited with his alma mater

It has been a year already since he had last visited the place and so he could not help but feel quite nostalgic as he descended down the corridor and walked passed the familiar buildings.

The professor was not yet around when Anton came and so he was left with nothing to do but to sit by himself on the corner of the faculty office; waiting for the others to arrive.

Looking around him, he realized that despite the passing of time, the professor's office still remained the same exactly just like how he remembered it.

Anton did not wait for too long, after just around ten minutes, the door of Santina's faculty office opened once again, and the other two walked in.

"Sorry, if you had to wait for so long, Anton."

Santina said as soon as they came in and without beating around the bush, she introduced her company right away.

"By the way, this is Brother Mikael Putrivitch. Mikael, this is Anton. The one that I told you about the last time."

"Nice to meet you."

Mikael, on the other hand, flashed the other party a warm smile before he extended his hand to offer a handshake.

"It's okay, Professor and please to meet you, Brother Mikael."

"Just call me Brother Kel, for short."

After that short introduction as well as exchanging a few more pleasantries, the three finally took their sits and began discussing the matter at hand.

"So, is the result of the autopsy out already? Did we come to know the identity of the victim?"

Anton asked away the dire question that he had been wanting to ask.

The main reason why he had gone the extra mile to apply for an assistant job to his former professor was that for him to be able to protect those children in the dumpsite that he happened to hold dear.

"Not yet as we don't have any means to identify him as of now. But what we do know was that it was a boy around the same age as the others, probably thirteen years old and just like the rest of the victims that we had examined so far, we suspect that he was also murdered by the same killer lurking at District 12.

"My Goodness..."

Anton paused for a while first before he let out a deep and exasperated breath. He ran his hands over his face and then placed it over his mouth as if he was in deep contemplation.

"Why is he doing this??"

'If only I knew the answer to that question, I should have slept a lot better now."

That was was Mikael wanted to say but of course, he did not voice that out. What he did instead was he stood up and walked towards the window.

He pulled its blinds and looked outside the office. From the sideline, the other party may look as though he was watching the rain as it lashed on the windowpane. But the truth was, he was staring off the distance; drown with his own thoughts.

From time to time, differing colors of umbrellas would bob up to his sight as people walked passed the office but Mikael did not pay it much of his attention.

Without tearing his eyes away from the window, Mikael let out an exasperated sigh and said afterward,

"Actually that is the million-dollar question... Why does he have to do it this way??? Each killer has their own message that they wanted to relay through their passion for killing. So it was a mystery to me what exactly was the killer trying to tell us by committing his crime in this way?"

Mikael said that out loud but in a manner as though he was speaking directly to himself.

He watched as how the trees outside were dancing as though it had turned into a whomping willow; its branches were shifting in the direction of the wind.

For a moment, the room became still and silent as no one dared to speak. The noise coming from the pattering of the rain outside was the only sound that could be heard in the background

"Ehem.."

To save them from the long and deafening silence, Santina deliberately cleared her throat. Then she clasped her hand together in her desk afterward. She turned to Anton and talked to him directly and answered his previous question.

"We have no idea why he was doing this and truth be told, we may never know. That was why we have to find him at all costs so that no more innocent lives would be involved in these serial killings anymore. This time, we need your help."

"I am all in. Just tell me how I could be of any help to this case."

The young man replied with a resolute attitude
