SANTINA'S GOOD FRIEND

"Santina! Wait up!"

Santina and Mikael were descending down the stairs when they heard someone calling their attention from behind.

Mikael was actually walking ahead of Santina down the stairs so when Santina suddenly stopped from her track, he unknowingly left her.

Meanwhile, recognition dawned on Santina's face as soon as she saw who the other party was.

"Abby?"

Santina's face brightened when she saw her old friend as it has been a while since she had last seen the other party.

"How are you?"

She asked afterward as the two of them exchanged a friendly kissed in the cheek.

"I'm great and you???"

"It's been years."

"That's right.."

Meanwhile, Mikael who had no idea what the two were actually talking about waited for them at the end of the stairs.

"What are you doing here?"

"I need a statement from Attorney Sapiro"

"That guy is roving. You won't find him in his office."

"Wait, are they not consulting you on the case?"

The two chatted and exchanged a few more words in their foreign language, leaving Mikael unable o catch up at the side

"Oh? I'm, sorry. Where are my manners?"

She said laughing to herself then she introduced Mikael to the other party.

"By the way, Abby, I want you to meet my friend. He is Mikael, Mikael Putrivitch. But you could just call him Brother Kel for short."

Santina said as she gestured at Mikael's direction. Then she leaned closer at Abby and whispered next to her ears.

"He was a deacon."

"Oh...."

Abby on the other hand nodded her head knowingly before she looked at Mikael and gave the other party a once over.

"And Mikael, this is Abigail Salas. We used to attend the same school before in France. Also, she is a good friend of mine."

"Ahh... so it is French..."

Mikael nodded his head and extend his right arm towards Abby to offer her a handshake.

"Pleasure to meet you, miss Ab---"

"Just call me Abby."

The other party interjected as she readily accepted Mikael's handshake. After the exchange of short perfunctory words, Abby also introduced her company to the two.

"Gaston, by the way, I worked with him.."

"Hi.."

"Hello."

"Hmm.."

The three exchange handshakes while at the same time nodding their heads in recognition.

Meanwhile, Abby still had her eyes on Mikael as though she still had something to say. Mikael noticed it and so he turned to her and asked.

"Yes?"

"Well, nothing."

Abby replied simply.

"It was a pleasure meeting you, Brother Kel."

She said as sweetly as she could but when Santina saw this, she secretly nudged her good friend and whispered next to her ear.

"Abby?"

"What? He is still a deacon. As long as we are not obliged to call him father yet, there is still a chance"

The other party whispered back and then winked at Santina.

"Jesuits are getting cuter these days, I suppose."

Abby added and this time, she said it loud enough for Mikael to hear.

"HA-HA-HA."

Santina's awkward laugh followed afterward and unsure how to react, Mikael also chose to laugh in the end.

"Abby here sure loves to kid."

Santina said as she put her right hand over the other party's shoulder.

"Yes, it seems.."

Mikael agreed and speak no further than that.

"By the way, Santina, could you please help me?"

After making the mood light, Abby decided to finally to dive at the matter at hand.

"Sure. What is it?"

Santina agreed right away even without knowing yet what the other party was about to ask. Since she knew Abby's character, she reckoned that the other party would not ask for her assistance if it was not that she was in really dire need.

That was why she offered her help as soon as Abby asked for it.

"The thing is, I watched the news last night and I saw Attorney Sapiro there as usual. The news report claimed that there was this body that was found last month. From what I do know, there were actually far more bodies that were found prior to that, with similar injuries, and also in the dumpsite. Correct?"

Santina and Mikael remained silent but the obvious change in their expression was there so Abby decided to continue.

"The truth is, I happened to be lucky enough to get some footage of the previous unknown victims. Well, I may not be as knowledgable as you are, Santina, but from what I can observe, it does not seem to be the work of someone drunk or under the influence of drugs. The killer seems to be in full control here. Also, the injuries of the victims are way too similar to one another."

Somehow, there was this glow of fascination in Abby's eyes as she narrated what she knew so far about this serial killer case.
