A few minutes later, Gary heard sirens. The police were gathering under the bridge and a couple of ambulances had turned up too. Then a man on a megaphone started speaking to the person on the bridge. Gary looked out the windscreen nervously. Some firefighters had brought a big trampoline-like safety net to catch the person. Then the driver pressed a button a black screen came up in between the driver and Gary.
"Hey! I want to know what happens!" Gary shouted banging on the screen. He couldn't see through it no matter how hard he tried. He sighed and flopped back on the chair in an attempt to resume his previous goal of falling asleep.
It wasn't long until they started moving again and the sudden jolt of movement woke up Gary. He wondered what happened to the person. He tapped the black screen and it lowered.
"What happened to the person?" Gary asked. The driver didn't respond but as they drove past Gary could see for himself. He grimaced. He couldn't wait to get to school so that he wouldn't have any problems.
Soon enough Gary woke up to find out they'd arrived. Suddenly forgetting all about the journey, Gary grabbed his belongings and jumped out of the car. He went up to the grand entrance, St Kuffbert's colours were decorating the school. The yellow and white banners all had the school's moto on them - Learn well, Live long. Gary took a deep breath and pushed the door open...
