Tricks - Rainbow

As soon as the assembly ended, Rainbow quickly escaped and ran out of the hall. In her opinion it was the worst term assembly so far, she hadn't even been able to joke about it with Dimond or Linda. Thinking that she was far enough away from the other populars, she slowed her pace, giving her time to clear her thoughts as she walked.

When she got to her locker, she grabbed some of her books after checking which ones she needed for today. It suddenly slammed closed in front of her face making her drop the books and she gasped slightly, startled by it closing. She spun around and of course, Barry was standing there, grinning. Rainbow frowned upon seeing him, what was he going to force upon her this time? She thought. Then he pushed her against the locker and smirked, watching her eyes dart back and forth.

"You already know what I want." He answered her unasked question. He stared into her eyes confidently. Rainbow stood there paralysed and breathing heavily, her heart fluttered slightly in her chest. This was what she wanted... wasn't it? Barry was literally standing over her asking her to kiss him...

So why was she faltering?

Maybe it was because somewhere deep inside, she knew it wasn't true. Even if he was standing there, leaning in to kiss her, she knew he was faking it. She knew because she'd stood by naively as he'd tricked her best friend the same way. He didn't love her. Not in the slightest. He loved Dimond.

She glared at him, suddenly flaring up with rage. He was just trying to use her. She shoved him, her magic powering up the shove so that he went flying over to the other wall. Barry grit his teeth in pain and carefully got to his feet.

"Someone's been practicing!" He commented holding his side. Rainbow just glared at him. He didn't care about her magic, only when it was used against him.

"You really thought that stupid trick would work?" She asked, storming over to him with her hands glowing fiercely as her anger fuelled them. He stepped back cautiously.

"Won't someone see you?" He hurriedly asked changing the subject and trying to protect himself. "You're going to get you and Dimond caught!" He added when she kept advancing.

"Dimond?" Rainbow questioned slowly, letting Barry fully realise what he'd said. Her hands crackled with energy and her feet and arms started glowing too. Barry's eyes widened, he'd never seen Rainbow like this. In her kill mode. Her pupils shined and expanded, absorbing her iris in tiny veins of darkness. She held up a hand to punch him, which would surely kill him Barry realised.

"Rainbow!" Someone suddenly shouted, making both Rainbow and Barry turn towards them. It was Dimond. Followed by the rest of the populars. Rainbow's pupils shrank again quickly, returning back to normal as she realised that they'd all seen her magic. The magic on her hands, arms and feet dissipated, leaving only a tingling sensation in her fingers.

Dimond rushed over to her boyfriend, checking him for any injuries and then cupping his cheeks. Her own hands lit up and she pecked his forehead with a kiss.

Then she turned to Rainbow, who was stumbling on the spot. For her, the room had started spinning and she was struggling to breath. Dimond steadied her and she collapsed into her cousin's arms. Dimond noticed the lack of rainbow colours in her hair roots revealing her natural brown hair. It ment that she'd used up so much magic in that state that even her store of magic, that she'd naturally built up over the years she'd been alive, had taken a hit. It was all stored in her hair which created its rainbow colours. If she used too much magic at a time when she wasn't trained, then she would likely collapse. Dimond sighed and handed her to a rather cautious Barry. She then walked over to the other populars and also erased their memories of the magic.

Rainbow woke up slightly later when Barry was carrying her. She smiled slightly and rolled her head into his chest having temporarily forgotten why she was angry at him.

"Sorry I almost killed you..." She whispered to him. He smirked and looked down at her in a way that said 'I could have totally taken you!'. It told her that Dimond had used the mind wipe spell on him.

"Well... Since you're awake now, you can walk on your own two legs." He announced as he forced her to stand. The others laughed and Rainbow smiled timidly as her memories finally started to catch up.
