Chapter 28 - Legends

Thanks to my now somewhat decent foundation in the Chinese language, and experience with the process of contemplating on the words, I went through the dictionaries much faster than before.

It barely took me the whole day to finish all of the dictionaries mom brought back, twice.

"...Are you done already?"

"En. I'm a little hungry now, mommy. Do you have any milk left?" I nodded

Mom speechlessly stared at me for a while, then slowly replied,

"Well... I do have, but it won't be as delicious as before, without daddy's help."

"Daddy's help?" I curiously asked while leaning my head to the right.

"Eh? Uh... Uuuh. Well, i-it's during mommy and daddy's p-private time. W-we well, m-m-make l-love to each other, and during that time we would exchange Qi. And that Qi is the best for making Yan Yan's favourite milk." Mom indecisively explained, with a light blush on her face.

'I swear, I could live just for seeing mom blush~ She's just so keeeewt!'

"I see. Mommy, what is Qi?"

"Qi is a natural energy that exists in everything between Heaven and Earth. And by everything, I mean everything.

You, me, beasts, plants, animals, water, air, even rocks and metals also have Qi in them. It is one of the three most important things in the universe." Mom seriously explained.

"Three?" I asked with excitement and curiosity shinning in my eyes.

"Yes. Three. There have been many legends passed down since ancient times. But many of them have been either lost, or corrupted in meaning due to the long passage of time. The true meaning of the Truth, the Great Dao has never deviated from the beginning.

However, from generation to generation, the legends have passed down either through word of mouth, or ancient scrolls detailing the information, accidents have occurred, either memory loss, or damage to the scrolls. It is very hard for ancient scrolls to last very long.

Besides the levels of cultivation that have clearly been passed down, another thing has been passed down clearly as well, and that is the beginning of primordial times.

There are many books circulating out there detailing these 2 things, due to the fact that these 2 legends are the only ones to be carved into monuments made of unknown materials. These materials have been shaped into obelisk by either a very powerful person, or a great sect, or maybe even both.

After all, even the greatest and strongest cultivators cannot even begin to put a mark on the obelisk. Many have tried, but all have failed. Till this day, these 2 obelisks have remained unmarked by the ravages of time.

The obelisk that records the beginning of primordial times begins with this :

At first, there is nothing.

From nothing, the One is born.

From One, gave birth to Two.

From Two, the Three is born.

And the Three gave birth to all.

And Qi is one of the Three. It is explained in the book that has many copies all over the continent. After all, it is a section that contains a truth closest to the Dao, even if many of us cannot feel it.

Occasionally, there have been geniuses that are able to comprehend some esoteric truth from it, and went on to become a great figure, and establish their own great sect, or make their sect greater, but such occurrences have been far too rare." Mom, after solemnly, but also long-windedly telling me the story of the 'Three', took out a beautiful white coloured gourd and drank from it to quench her thirst.

"It seems very complicated. I have learned a lot today~ Thank you very much for explaining, mommy~" I happily smiled as I commented.

*gulp gulp gulp* *Ahhh~*

"You're welcome, Yan Yan~ Our Yan Yan is so polite and so cute~! She'll grow up to be a beautiful, great, and outstanding lady~" Mom gently rubbed my head as she happily praised me.

"Um! Yan Yan will try her best!" I clenched my fists together as I nodded.

"...But mommy, how do you exchange Qi?" I curiously questioned.

Mom, who was in the middle of taking another gulp, turn her head to the side and spurted out what she was drinking in surprise.

*Puuuuuft* *cough* *cough* *cough*

"Excuse me?" Mom coughingly asked.

I unblinkingly stared at her with curiosity shinning in my big baby eyes.

"U-uuuuh~ I-I- Yan Yan has not grown big enough to learn about this yet! This is something that only adults that love each other very, very, very much should do with each other!

Listen well, Yun Hui Yan, when you meet the one you love, you must be very careful to protect yourself first. Only when you know everything about the person that you love, and that you are absolutely sure that you want to live out the rest of your life with that person, should you marry him. Do you understand?" Mom sternly changed the subject and warned me.

"Uuuh~ I understand... But what if I want to marry mommy instead?" I conflictingly replied and asked.

"Eh?"

"Because I love mommy the most~!" I declared with a wide smile.

"Awww~ I also love Yan Yan the most! Buuuuuut... What about leaving descendants? I'm very happy that Yan Yan loves me and wants to marry me, but I already married daddy, and women cannot have babies together..." Mom conflictingly answered, both happy and worried at the same time.

"...They can't?" I asked with puppy eyes, big fat tears threatening to spill out.

"U-u-um. They can't." Mom stutteringly confirmed, almost as if she couldn't help but say otherwise.

"Awwww..." I depressingly said, with my head hung low.

"...A-anyway! Yan Yan, are you hungry? I did prepare some milk for you~!" Mom tried to cheerfully change the subject.

"Ooooookay..."

*chiup* *chuuup* *chiiuup*

After a certain baby finished her meal of milk, she then asked,

"Mommy, do you want to stay alone with dad in the bedroom together like last night?"

"E-e-eh? U-uh...Hmmngh... It's okay. Yan Yan is more important. Yesterday was an accident that will never happen again no matter what!" Mom declared with gusto, as if she was filled with Determination.

"I don't mind, I can just read more books. Mommy said that a couple have private times together. I know what private time means, it means alone time to yourself. Besides, mommy said that the suuuper delicious milk needs daddy's help to make, so I definitely can endure not sleeping with mommy! For milk!" I cutely roared and raised my left arm up in the air, while my mouth wouldn't stop salivating, and saliva is starting to drip onto the floor.

"Pfftufufufu~! Okay okay, fine. But not today, okay? Mommy needs to make a few preparations with daddy so that you will be absolutely safe while out here in the living room." Mom relented.

"Eeeeeh? B-b-but, my delicious milk..."

"You will get it tomorrow evening, I promise. Now, let's change your diapers, and prepare to go to sleep. Daddy should be home soon enough."

"Mommy, I learned from the dictionaries that toilets are used when peeing and pooping. I can use the toilet, I think. Aren't the diapers hard and smelly to clean?" I informed

"...Really?" Mom hesitatingly asked.

"Well, if mommy helps me." I confirmed.

"Well of course! Mommy will definitely help you!" Mom excitedly and happily shouted.

"...Are my diapers really that bad?"

*looks away, trying hard not to meet my eyes*

"M-maybe...?" Mom answered.

"That bad, huh."

"N-no no no, not at all! Yan Yan's diapers aren't bad at all! Yup! Not! At! All!" Mom quickly denied, but almost reluctantly.

"It's okay mom. I know it's bad. Poop and pee doesn't smell very nice. It's okay to be truthful. There's no need to lie not to make me feel bad." I comforted mom, patting her head after climbing onto her shoulders with difficulty.

"Waaaaaah~! It was very smelly! I could barely stand it by using my water Qi to clean it! Waaaaah! I couldn't understand how the other wives managed to stand it! I'm sorry! Wuuueeeeeh~!" Mom wailed while hugging me to her face, crying into my belly and venting her grievances.

"There there~" I calmly and gently comforted, all the while head patting mom and gently rubbing her hair.

As such, the strange scene of a beautiful, grown-up lady hugging and crying into the belly of a rather weirdly calm baby comforting the lady panned out.

"I'm back!" Wei Bai shouted as he pushed open the door while removing his boots. When he looked up, he paused as if frozen in time, a single boot perilously hanging on his feet.

"There~ There~ I know it's been hard on you. It's both of our first times. Everybody makes mistakes and have difficulties when they do things for the first time." A high-pitched but calm voice rang out.

"Waaaaah~ I know! B-but but... I'm sorry! I was supposed to be the mother that takes care of everything and comfort and and and... Waaaah~!"

"I know, but it doesn't mean you have to shoulder everything. Ask perverted dad for help. Even if he won't be much help, at least he can support you a little. I think. I hope. I don't know. I'm just a baby, you know?

All I know is just what I have seen so far while I was on your back or chest, and what I've read in the dictionaries. The dictionaries are harder to understand though. The pictures help. But there isn't much of it..."

"...Dad isn't perverted!"

"Is that so? Tell me the truth."

"O-okay maybe he is... I guess all men are. In one way or the other. Be careful okay, Yan Yan? Almost 99 out of 100 men out there are wolves that love hunting for beautiful and outstanding women. Yan Yan must be very careful so as to protect one's self."

"Un. Yan Yan understands. All men are perverted. Almost all men are wolves. Then they should be hunted down like the beasts they are!"

"O-okay, maybe not hunt them all down... But if they chase you then it's definitely okay to cripple a limb or two so they can't chase you. It's dangerous to kill someone because you don't know who might back them up.

If they are very powerful, they just might put you in grave danger, as a slave or being executed."

"Okay, Yan Yan will remember."

Wei Bai speechlessly froze at this weird sight as well as bantering between daughter and mother, unsure of what to say of this 'exchange' of 'wisdom'.

"U-uh..."

"Oh! Bai Bai! You're back! Finally! What took you so long? Yan Yan and I were Almost about to fall asleep!" An Xin happily perked up at the sight of her husband, with her shoulders and chest proudly and relaxedly raised, as if she had shed all of her burdens.

"..." Wei Bai was unsure of what to say at the sight of his confident wife.

"It's fine, come in. I have many things I want to say to you, as well as preparation we need to make for Yan Yan's needs." An Xin rose from sitting on her knees and carried Hui Yan on her left hand, and pulled on Wei Bai's hand with her right.

"O-okay, got it." Wei Bai arose from his stupor and hurriedly removed his boots and entered the house, kicking the door closed behind him with his leg.

"Come on, quick! Yan Yan and I are starting to get sleepy too! Why were you so late?" Yan Yan complained as she pulled harder and Wei Bai's hand into the bedroom.

"Okay okay, I got it. The gate was congested with plenty of carriages coming in, some kind of goods that were brought over from the centre." Wei Bai explained himself.

"Really? Who ordered so much?"

"Apparently, the Forging, Alchemy, Medicine, Formation, and Talisman Associations all ordered a few batches of goods, and decided to gather all of their guards to escort all of their goods all in one go. The amount of guards each association sent out were crazy. It was almost like a battalion or something."

"Is that so? Well, it isn't all that rare, all of the associations have a virtuous and cooperative relationship anyway. With the Intelligence Association as all of their middlemen, the network is really all-encompassing the whole continent. The only place where the associations have no connections would be the Primordial Chaos Mountain Range.

The shallow regions are okay, but the deep ends are really absolute danger zones where nobody has survived to come back from..."

As the couple bantered back and forth like that, the trio entered the bedroom, as the wife pulled her husband into bed, with their daughter in between them, and started telling him about all the things that happened today in a pillow talk like manner, and slowly, but surely, they drifted onto dreamland...
