Chapter 86

For the first time since the beginning of this dreadful escapade, I feel like I know something no one else does.

According to Damien, he thinks Sean's dad was cursed and sent back to earth when truly he died. Queen Crystal must've hidden the truth from everyone, not wanting them to know how he died.

"Wow" I release a breath. Now that I've got an opportunity to ask anything I want, I've suddenly run out of questions.

"Well?," he says and sips his tea, "anything else?"

"These other kingdoms," I say with a little bit of fear setting at the pit of my stomach, "how many are there?"

"A lot," he answer without hesitating, "a few major ones but we can't be too careful with the others as well. Of course we're more powerful but then, it's not all about power sometimes."

"I need to leave, see Sean and," my voice fades away as I think of Zara.

"She looked strong," he says, figuring out who I was thinking about, "I bet she's fine now and on the lookout for you. You can't leave though, not yet."

"When?"

"We'll set out at first light, until then try to stay calm."

"You can't teleport," I point out, "what's your own power asides breaking bones without struggle?"

"You'll find out soon enough." He chuckles, "try to get some rest, tomorrow might end up being a really long day."

"Why are you helping me?" I ask and he sighs

"I don't know," he smirks and stands up, "maybe I want something in return." With that he walks towards the door and just before I can say anything to stop him he leaves the house and clicks the door shut behind him.

"Damien!!!" I shout and run towards the door trying to pry it open.

"Rest, Your Highness" he says from the other side of the door, "I'll be back soon."

Silence follows and I don't bother yelling or trying to open the door. I wouldn't be able to even if I tried, because I'm weak. I'm a weak coward who only keeps running away from her fears and challenges instead of facing them. Waiting, just like now, for help and to think other beings see me as something powerful.

But maybe, maybe I am. Until I test my potentials I'll always run and hide, I'll always wait helplessly and endanger my loved ones; Just like Dylan, Zara, Sean. Not anymore. I survived everything because I'm strong, I'm queen, I'm Crystal.

In that moment, I feel a sudden coldness at the tip of my fingers but it doesn't make me feel uncomfortable in any way instead, it makes me feel powerful. It's a welcoming feeling and I embrace it as the coldness spreads throughout my body. Following my instincts, I place my palms on the door and ice spreads out from my hands onto the door, freezing it in an instance. The cracking sound of the door brings a smile to my lips and fills up my confidence level to a thousand percent. Without hesitating, I kick the door and it breaks to the ground, ice splattering all over. This is it, it's time to fight for myself.

Confidently, not allowing room for fear, I run through the same route Damien and I ran through hours ago surprisingly seeing clearly in the dark night. Soon enough, I'm out in the street and the spot where Zara fought off those creatures is stained with blood but I don't see any body, living or dead. Taking a deep breath, I start to walk very fast almost in a sprint, towards the mansion in hopes that I'll find someone there before anyone finds me. Once the large gate comes within my view, my steps become even faster and before I know, I'm running full speed towards it. When I'm at least two steps away, I feel a sudden pull like a magnetic force repelling me from the gate and dragging me away from it. Trying hard to break free from it, I succeed to my surprise but fall to the ground and when I look up, my eyes meet a very heart breaking surprise.

"Damien?" I ask confused when I see him with the exact same people that fought with Zara and even the one he killed stood close to him with a black bag in his hand. "What's going on?"

"A queen shouldn't be seen on the ground like this," he smirks and my heart breaks. "Why don't you get up and we'll talk properly."

Flustered, I stand up and take a defensive stance, ready to fight back and not run. Not anymore, not this time.

"As expected," he continues and takes a casual step forward but I don't move, "you broke out, quicker and easier that I thought though."

"You sick bastard", I grit out in pure anger. I trust too easily for someone who's been betrayed badly in the past. "What do you want from me?"

"Didn't you get anything I told you?" He stops right in front of me and looks directly into my eyes, "I don't want anything from you Crystal, I want you."

"I'd be dead before I let you take me anywhere." I say lowly, anger evident in my voice and sighs.

"I thought we were friends already," he walks back and takes the black bag from his acquaintance, "I guess we'll have to go through this path then."

He raises the bag up in the air and fear almost creeps into my heart but I block it out. No matter what, I must be brave.

The bag opens up and in a second, something somewhat heavy falls from it onto the ground releasing a thudding sound. I look down at it but can't decipher what it is.

"What is that?" I ask and he smiles devilishly, kicking it lightly towards me and it rolls stopping just in front me.

Like heavy rain, goosebumps flood my entire body and my heart rate speeds up as everything in my stomach threatens to come out the moment my eyes meet with it.
