The Other Side of the Mask

XiaoLong's face turns red as he looks into the mirror of him in the miniskirt. He clasps my mouth shut.


"Don't…" he pleads with his red face.


I take five minutes to calm down and then tell him to sit back down on the bed.


I squat down in front of him with the makeup palette. Remembering the face of 2233, I draw her features onto his face in a natural disguise.


"Ok, done! Now all you have to do is tie your hair into a braid and you'll look just like her!"


  I tie his hair into the braid and turn him to face the mirror.


"Ugh… ew…" he looks at his new face in disgust.


I frown at the thought of any of us getting caught again. I look down at XiaoLong's neck which still shows lash marks.


He puts his hand on mine after realizing what I was looking at, "It's fine."


I tell him to stay put, and I walk out to meet with 1111, 2233, and 1212. I chat a bit with them, straining my voice, but it was worth it to see how 2233 reacts and her personality.


I deal with the alcohol smelling pirates while talking with the 'friends'.


"Little girl, I would like to take on a mission," a deep voice bellows.


I turn around to see a somewhat familiar face. Two words pop into my head.


He looks at me and nods. It's the pirate I met at the Yue Kingdom harbor where I also met XiaoLong when I was running away… his skills are actually commendable.


I look at his red hat and pull out the red stamp. I stamp both papers and finish the business. Captain Bartholomew stares at me as if trying to find something.


He slowly took the paper without even looking at it. After, he inspects it, gives me one last look and walks away.


Cold sweat drips down my back. I heave a sigh and continue my business.


"Yoohoo!" 1474 walks over to me, "How's it going?"


"Ah, this is 1474, a friend of mine," I introduce 1474.


1111, 1212, and 2233 introduce themselves, and we chat.


I zone in and out as they chat, picking up some interesting info.


1474 suddenly exclaimed in surprise at 2233, "What? You're that girl! The Medicine Elder's granddaughter!"


"Shhhh… yes, my grandmother is the Medicine Elder; she dotes on me a lot," 2233 says hesitantly and truthfully.


I shiver at the thought. Medicine Elder… hopefully it's not that old-witch-looking elder.


I headed back to my room after they finished their super-duper long chat, where I yawned like forty-five times.


"What do you want to do now that we're both together and safe?"


"Hmmm… let's just leave I guess. Steal a ship and leave."


"... I'm not sure about that plan because we don't know this sea as well and they would just target us to bring us back."


XiaoLong frowns, "No… I think we should destroy the league while we're at it anyways. They'll cause more trouble if we don't."


After a moment of thought, I snicker, "I've got the perfect plan for this."
