Spirit Zone

As the blue spirit stared at Zel he was a little lost so he smiled awkwardly.

"Hi I'm Zel how should I address you" Zel was unsure how to proceed to get what he wanted exactly with out being rude so he decided to act as normal as possible

"Hello I am the guardian spirit of this zone as a newly born fae your species creation always happens in a spirit zone."

This was apart of the lore that Zel knew while other players would have to be lucky to find out because players spawned essentially on the edge of a random spirit zone and if you chose to move away you leave the zone and start heading towards the nearest village. Spirits themselves weren't a unique feature only the fae could use anyone could interact with spirts but the fae were the only group that could get one right at the start of the game naturally spawned fae would always gain a spirt companion but they would tend to live in spirit zones for the rest of their lives big spirit zones would probably have whole fae communities while small ones might have one or two.

Spirits were essentially separated in to two categories elemental and symbolic. Elemental spirits were pretty straight forward not to say there weren't different types outside the four main elements but they were just sup groups and higher forms of generally the same thing symbolic spirits on the other hand tend to be more obscure and could be created from different things a battlefield might create spirits of war or the tomb of a hero might have that hero's spirit inside abstract ideas might even create spirits even weapons could have a spirit inside of them listing out all the types of spirit would probably take a a couple life times but the benefits obtained from having a spirit were very good so without even knowing the history of the world one would assume spirits were hunted and gaining one might put a target on your back. For most races gaining a spirit involved being in tune with there concept then meeting them and creating a good impression and every class gained a benefit from have one or more. The benefits gained were affinity with that element or idea and assistance on creating skills while a heroic spirit would even teach you their legendary skills they were essentially guides and helpers in doing whatever that spirit had domain of and also gave passive boost so all around good things depending on what you were using them for.

"Hello guardian what is supposed to happen now" Zel said he never really got a grasp of how this interaction was supposed to go he programmed it into the game but overall it was just the manifestation of an idea he didn't setup guidelines for it but there was one thing that he knew and he thought it would be weird to ask about it because even npc fae knew nothing about the world when they first spawned asking questions was a must spirits were a guide for the fae just like class trainers were for other races.

"I am a soul from the world of the creator and these are my first steps in this world and if you can I would like you to help me" this was the lore for players and why immortal creatures appearing everywhere didn't make Npc's go crazy

The guardian spirit smiled at Zel almost as if she expected as much and began to speak

"Fae are naturally attuned with the world created by the energies of the universe and mana while spirits are the merging of elements or strong feelings or thoughts given power by the universe and mana we are siblings in broader terms and while we are endowed with knowledge on our creation the fae are not wether you choose to leave or stay in the spirit zone one of our kin shall accompany you if you wish." What she didn't mention and what Zel knew was that picking a spirit as a fae would lock you with that elemental affinity for the rest of the game so picking a water elemental would make it so you could only do water related spells there were ways around this but the quest was difficult after the first one and only got more difficult as you progressed other races didn't have this problem because they came with their own affinity at the start so their mana had a flavor already while fae had none. To get through this as a fae you had to find higher ranked spirits to balance the elemental mana in your body symbolic spirits didn't work like this but Zel didn't feel like thinking about that now.

"Would like to pick a spirit to join you young fae" the spirit guardian said and at this point every player would probably just make a choice but Zel knew there was a hidden objective here he just didn't know why she hadn't mentioned it so he decided to ask

"Is there no trial that I have to go through" Zel said with confusion written all over his face he knew the quest was optional and unique but he thought she should have mentioned it and the likelihood of another player doing what he was is so small that he didn't know why she wouldn't.

"There is but the trial has not been done in a 150 years fae are controlled on the continents after the destruction of the first fae kingdom with the fae queen's death the other races have hunted and killed the fae to make sure they won't get too strong fae elders have banned the trial to save their people" and to Zel this came as a shock the world had only exsisted for about a thousand years 800 of which were all apart of the development process of the game as Quinton he would let the game speed run at high speeds and then make tweaks and changes based on what happened almost everything went through one or two revolutions with him in the background egging it on this was another reason he didn't know how the world developed in the last two hundred years he never let the game run that long unsupervised by himself. The main reason he picked fae was because of their explosive abilities at the higher ranks and with out the trial the whole race was destined to live in obscurity. Fae were like dragons with lower starting points but more versatility and this trial was the catalyst for that explosive growth and without it the fae was barely even considered a race and more just like cosmic shit that happened to exist. Zel knew this so immediately after he asked to take the trial this decision would trigger a huge change for the fae and would lead Zel to create his legend.
