When Sai woke up, he realized that he was alone in bed. He got up slowly, still groggy. It hadn't been the best of his nights. Unlike Sasuke, who seemed to have slept all night like a baby, every time he closed his eyes, he felt nauseous. As soon as the urge to vomit had finally stopped and he thought he would be able to sleep, the brunette beside him moved, snuggling as close to himself as possible but without touching him. That way, nervous, he managed to doze off, but his sleep was quite turbulent.
He had never reached that point with anyone, and the few people he became involved with were not like his current partner. Sasuke was a box of surprises and not all of them were necessarily positive, so he felt a little cornered by everything that happened. And it happened faster than he could keep up.
Before heading to the kitchen, he went to the bathroom so that he could brush his teeth (with a brush that the owner of the house had given him the night before) and wash his face, in a futile attempt to hide the dark balls that were below your eyes. He did his best with soap and water and then set out to find the others. From a distance, he could hear Naruto's roaring laughter and another female giggle that he couldn't quite identify until the moment people entered his field of vision: it was TenTen.
"Good Morning!" I hadn't said anything before. Both TenTen and Naruto looked at him as if it were a haunt. Then, as if synchronized, they both looked at Sasuke, who blushed slightly, while lowering his head to continue preparing the soup he was making.
"Good Morning?" The brunette was the first to leave the state of shock. As quickly as she had entered it, she smirked. "Where did you sleep?"
"TenTen, stop trying to embarrass us. You know very well where he slept. " Taking control of the situation, Sasuke finished setting the table. Sai approached to see what was going on, as his stomach complained of pain, asking for food. There was a little bit of everything and he was grateful that he didn't have to prepare anything. He sat down next to the brunette with the chocolate orbs, facing the other two.
"So, you did ..." His eyes widened at the comment from Naruto, who wore the same malicious face as the kunoichi.
"Naruto, what are you thinking exactly?" He commented, looking annoyed, with a hint of shame in his voice.
"Calm down, calm down, I was just going to ask if you had slept in a shell. But you and your mind too… don't tell me you were thinking about… "
"Enough. What Sai and I do sincerely is none of your business. Mind your own business. And eat before it gets cold. " Sasuke didn't need many words to shut them up.
He could say that the night had been profitable. It was really a long time since he shared his bed with someone else and Itachi hardly counted, since he was his brother. He managed to sleep more peacefully knowing that there was someone like Sai at his side. How had he come out of the man who was hated by everyone for that? Many twists and turns in a small amount of time. And they were far from over.
Someone knocked on the door and as owner of the house, Sasuke got up to answer it while the others were talking about the previous night in the kitchen. He was not surprised to see Gai on the other side, it was common for him to visit the students, but in any case he was not expecting him.
"Good morning, Sasuke-kun. How are you doing?" More hugs, but he didn't care, it was already part of his routine.
"I am fine. Want to come in? TenTen, Sai and Naruto are having breakfast. "
"I would like to, but I'm afraid this is not the best time. The Sixth Hokage asked me to come in person to take him to the tower. It has something to discuss with you. " I couldn't imagine why Kakashi would have anything to say to him. Since the mission, all he had done was stay at home and go out with the staff the night before. It was certainly an unusual day.
"Sure, I'll be right back." Sasuke needed to go to the kitchen at least to tell his visitors that he needed to leave. He was already in proper clothes to go out, so at least it was a while unless his sensei would be waiting. Upon arriving at the kitchen, the group stopped laughing to face him.
"So, who is this time in the morning?" The brunette wanted to know, curious.
"Gai-sensei, for which the Hokage would like to see me now. I need to leave and I don't know what time I will be back. Finish eating and close everything as soon as you leave. " The three nodded in agreement. Sasuke moved closer to Sai, touching his shoulder, causing the gray orbs to turn towards him. "See you later, ok?"
Sai did not expect that gesture, but he was happy that finally the brunette was better understanding how he would like to take that relationship. He nodded and saw the other calmly leave. After hearing the sound of the door being closed, he was surprised to see Naruto and TenTen assume the same malicious expression as before, directing their eyes at him. I couldn't believe it.
"So, Sai, what exactly happened last night?" The kunoichi questioned, eager for information. He looked around, wondering how he could get away with it. But there was no way, was it? By the expressions, they would be able to tie him up and torture him for information. He gave an embarrassed smile, as it was the only thing he could do in that situation.

Sasuke and Gai did not take long to reach the meeting tower. His sensei looked calm, so he figured it was nothing serious. But that changed the moment Kakashi received him, but said that Maito was not needed in the conversation. If it was something about your team, or the missions, the sensei should be there, shouldn't it? He began to be apprehensive.
Kakashi had a tired expression and indicated the chair in front of him so that he could snuggle up. The brunette sat up, alert. What could his ex-sensei want with him at this point?
"Good morning, Sasuke. I wish there was no need to call you here, but the situation asked me to take such action. " There was something urgent in the current Hokage's voice. Sasuke had nothing in mind, but he couldn't help but think it was something he had done. Well, his reins were pretty short and getting back was not as simple as he would have liked it to be. There were several rules that he needed to follow, including things that he couldn't do. He didn't remember having done a wrong act or anything that would have led him to be there, but, well, he wouldn't be surprised if anything came to his attention.
"As you knew, we were monitoring Orochimaru closely, so we would have a dimension of what he planned. At first, everything went well and he was not doing anything suspicious. Not in our eyes. But then the guards began to notice strange behavior and issued an alert. It didn't seem serious at first, until we had the full dimension of what was really going on there. We had to arrest him. You can imagine that it was not so simple and I can say that he fought hard so that his material and his research were not apprehended. But in the end ... what he was doing was not dangerous, maybe a little unusual, but we cannot trust what his future intentions are. "
The Uchiha expected to hear anything, even that he was wrong to be involved with someone from the village, but the Orochimaru theme had not even crossed his mind. Didn't they know that they had long since disengaged from the former master? He thought that the fact had become clear during the ninja war. Apparently no.
"I don't understand what I'm doing here. I haven't had contact with Orochimaru in a long time. "
"I know, Sasuke, I know. I also would not like to have called you, as I said, but I had no choice. We arrested Orochimaru and the next step would be to find a purpose for his research, whether it be archiving or destroying, as we really believe. But then, we found ... Ibiki said that Orochimaru asked us to call him. Not to talk to him, but he suggested that maybe some of his research should be with you. "
Why the hell would he want some of that research, whatever it was? What was really going on there? There were several questions and no answers and he was about to question the man in front of him when two discreet knocking on the door caught their attention in the room.
"Ah, they arrived. Please come in. " He turned to see who had arrived, even more suspicious. It wouldn't be possible that they would bring Orochimaru himself there to talk to him, could it? I didn't want to either. There was absolutely no desire to deal with the former tutor. All the confusion in his mind fell silent as soon as any jounnin entered accompanied by a child, who, to his utter surprise, was an identical copy of him when he was younger. He was in his mid-fives and looked around, looking curious. He didn't seem afraid, but it was difficult to say based on his lack of expression.
"I ... I don't know ... I don't know what I should say." He babbled, confused. That had shocked him; few things in the world would make him lose his speech like that. Apparently one of them was in front of him. "I don't understand what that means." The questions multiplied. He was the only Uchiha alive. It was impossible to have a distant cousin who had had a child. But then, why was the child so frighteningly like him?
"Supposedly, he shouldn't be that small. It seems to us that the research was not yet complete. We think that Orochimaru was trying to make him old enough to understand more quickly what he was taught and to agree with some kind of crazy plan. " Was the snake master's project really a smaller version of himself? As surprised as stivesse, it was still a little obvious, if you stopped to think.
"He was arrested on charges of conspiracy. We concluded that he might want to use a clone of his to attack Konoha. We apprehended most of the writings and equipment, but we didn't quite know what to do with the boy, that's why we called him. At first we thought it could just be a physical resemblance, a coincidence, but the tests proved that he has Uchiha genes. Your genes. "
How could your world turn that way overnight? And how had Orochimaru gotten his genes to create another version of him? Did that make him now some kind of… boy's father? Maybe that's what Kakashi was guessing, taking him there?
He was no longer the only Uchiha alive. Although technically he was a clone of himself, he was still someone else. That scared him initially, but now a different feeling was taking over his chest. His lineage would not die. Well, he could always have a child with a girl, but considering the current circumstances and his involvement with another man, the chances of expanding his clan were negative and almost impossible. But that changed everything.
Not that I was thinking of being like Sai forever. But also having a child was not exactly in his plans for the future. Not until that moment. He voiced the question that he did not want to keep silent.
"Hokage, what exactly are you asking me to do?"
The gray-haired man sighed. "Sasuke, I'll be honest. I didn't want to put any kind of responsibility on you, but I didn't know what to do. He wasn't conceived by normal means, but we couldn't just ... well, let's understand if you decide not to keep him. We can think of a plan B. " Plan B? What, would they kill the boy? Would they leave him in jail? Would the Hokage himself adopt him? I wanted to laugh. It was obvious that Sasuke was the only possible plan.
"Where is he staying?"
"Nowhere yet. We found him today and we already called you. We still don't know exactly where to allocate you." He looked at the boy again. At that age, he would already be able to partially understand what they were talking about. The little boy's black eyes were focused on his face. Only Kami knew what was on his mind. Only Kami knew what Orochimaru had already shown the boy. She wondered if he already knew how to speak. One knew how to write. Things like that.
Many could say that he had no feelings, considering that he had killed his own brother and repeatedly attacked the people who were most important to him, his closest friends. But looking at that little being, a miniature of himself, I knew that there was only one answer to that proposal. How could I let an Uchiha be created by anyone, anyway?
He had seen himself years before. His current personality was the result of many variables: his brother's betrayal and the lack of his parents during his growth contributed greatly to his being a teenager full of anger and thirst for revenge. Of course, he got rid of those bad feelings and became a more conscious adult, but he couldn't help thinking what he might have been if, instead, he had taken care of Itachi, his mother's sweetness and his father's appreciation. , despite all that rigidity.
"How much time do I have to think?" Kakashi masked an expression of despair, but he knew him well enough to know what that expression really meant. I had little time to decide. "You know you're asking me to be a father, don't you? It's not a decision you make overnight."
One more sigh. Hatake hated being in that position, asking for something like that, but he knew the boy deserved more. Sasuke had done a lot of terrible things to the village, but it was his own gene there. Himself, in someone else, only minor. Gai asked him to give Sasuke a second chance. Well, there was no better way for him to redeem himself than that. "I know. But it is an urgent matter. We would love for you to make a decision soon."
"Well, since you still don't know where he's going to be, I can take him home. He can stay with me while I think about it a little better. " He saw the tension leave the former sensei's body a little. Of course, the place where they would shelter the boy had been more of a concern. Staying with him, Sasuke could know, at least one day, what it would feel like to be a father. He wasn't exactly excited about that possibility, because several responsibilities came with it, but after thinking about it for a while, having another Uchiha with him wouldn't be that bad.
The Hokage nodded and he got up from his chair. He approached the boy, who still had a serene expression. Should I carry it or something? No, he was old enough to walk. Endless scenes played out in his head and just when he was deciding which one was the best, the little she held out her hand to him. I wasn't used to holding hands with people, even those closest to me, but, well, things had changed a bit, right? He needed to adapt. It couldn't be based on what he knew. From that moment on, maybe things would always be out of his control and he was always lost.
He reflected for a moment. It didn't look so bad.
