The Pinnacle

At the pinnacle of her career, Elli was standing in her bungalow glazing through the ceiling floor window towards the illuminating lights which sparkled throughout the whole city. Her bungalow was a bit far from the hustle bustle city which gave her quite the silent peaceful nights which is opposite of the day. The door to her living room opened and entered a woman wearing a beige pantsuit, her name is Sabrina. She is Elli's secretory/assistant/manager, means she handles everything.

"You left the party quite early today Elli! Are you feeling unwell! Do you want me to get something for you?"

"No Sabs, you know me, I don't like the hustle bustle sometimes, and tonight it seems I'm not in the mood for the glitz and glams."

"Quite the irony huh! The diva of the nation doesn't like the hustle bustle most nights" chuckled Sabrina.

"Do you remember today's date, it's 28th Feb, Sabs"

Sabrina's eyes widened and she covered her mouth with her hand. "Oh my god Elli, I'm so sorry. I completely forgot about it, why didn't you remind me in the morning, I would've kept your schedule free or at least you didn't have to attend that party. I'm so so so sorry."

"It's fine Sabs, it's not your fault, it's been 10 years already, I don't expect to remember and accommodate me every year. Plus it's all been good today, kept me busy enough to be distracted, but towards the end of the party I couldn't take it anymore. I needed to leave that place."

"Of course I understand Elli, it's been hard on you, but as you said it's been 10 years and you still haven't moved on. Come here sweetie" Sabrina pulled Elli into a warm hug and kissed her cheeks.

"Hmm, thank you Sabs, I needed this, let us open that scotch and drown us some memory lane and as well as making some memories" winked Elli. Then she dragged Sabrina with her towards the bar and out comes a 36 year old scotch. She poured her and Sabrina one glass each.

"Hmm, the good stuff" Sabrina hummed after downing the whole thing.

"Yea baby, let's get things rolling" shouted Elli and Sabrina joined her. After finishing the bottle the drunk duo moved towards the bedroom and crashed into the bed.

"It's time those bastards pay for what they did" murmured Elli.
