Chapter 94: Furious Fiancé

…..

The rescue team arrives soon and Soo Min gives them a quick briefing regarding the situation, before they wheel the patient into an ambulance.

A bead of sweat rolls down her forehead, dropping to the blackness of the ground. Soo Min absentmindedly watched as the drop disintegrated into the ground.

Another life. The silent prayer that go through her head every time another patient enters an ambulance.

A sudden rumble erupts as Soo Min's trance slowly breaks. She stares at the tartar as it shakes under her feet. Her eyes slowly widen as the realization hits her. Two words flash across her mind: land slide.

The emergency squad had deemed it safe, but there's always a chance that things can take a turn for the worse which is why rescue missions are no less than walking towards death itself.

Cracks start forming in the road from one end until it charges towards Soo Min at the speed of light.

Her brows furrow from the distance, but it's as if her body is glued to the ground. Incapable of any movement.

In a flash, the crack under Soo Min's feet becomes defined and the ground under her feels lighter. Almost… nonexistent.

"Soo Min!" The very familiar voice bellows from not too far behind her, sending tendrils of fear down to her soul.

Run.

'I have to run.' She mused.

Soo Min's heart thumped harder, slamming against her ribcage as she desperately scrambled to grab on to something.

There was nothing left beneath her. Just a second too late to react.

A strong arm grabs her elbow from behind, spinning her around before her front slammed into a hard muscular wall.

It was such a close call that it was as if the grim reaper was at her door, but was disregarded as just any other door-to-door salesman.

"Soo Min."

The sound of her name with that voice scattered her chaotic thoughts for a fraction of a second. Soo Min slowly opened her eyes.

The freezing air filters through her white coat as her eyes stared at the blue orbs in front of her.

At first, she thought he was merely an illusion. That she was already a part of the afterlife. Just a wandering soul, clueless of her next destination.

But the pain from the glass shads poking at her arm proved that all of this was real. That he was real. Her being alive was real.

The fact that he's here looking larger than life, as usual, with his calm expression - wait, no that stone expression is long gone - it's replaced with something else. Fear. Raw fear.

The usual, clear blue, eyes are now filled with the darkness of a storm brewing from the depths of hell.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ryan barked.

Soo Min flinched at the harshness in his voice. She had seen his ice cold demeanor, his warmth and even his nonchalance, but never had she seen his wrath.

"Do you not fucking care for your life? Jumping at danger every chance you get. Do you think of yourself as invincible?" His voice turns deadly calm, hinting at nothing of the raging volcano erupting inside.

"W—What?" Soo Min's lips part.

A red mist covers his vision until it's nearly impossible for him to see her through it.

He catches a blotch of blood spreading like a wildfire across her shoulder through his peripheral vision.

"Blood.." He mumbles.
