Chapter 31

Williams has had enough. These kids have lost their mind, more like their memories. He was so angry that he blurted out.

"Sorry Mister, they may be humans but we are not. We were created in a lab" GMN-9 told him with conviction.

"Who told you that!? " Williams couldn't believe this. He dedicated his time to finding them, finding her. His reasons were his own but he needed her but not if she didn't remember who she was.

"The same person that told us your name is Timothy not Williams" GMN-4 replied

This was getting more complicated. He needed a drink. Williams thought.

The GMNs watched the man walk towards his refrigerator and coming back with three bottles of beer. He offered GMN 1 and 4 but they declined watching him. Right now they didn't know what to think let alone believe. He took a long swallow then dropped the half empty bottle.

"Let me start at the beginning. About a year and half ago, thirty children went missing. These children were the brightest of the bright, the star kids, smart, intelligent, you get the picture... "

The three GMNs nodded

"They got missing, no explanation, no ransom, no trace, like vanished into thin air. Then after a while dead bodies began appearing. They appear on the news, find another body, most of them beyond recognition. They do a DNA test tell us who it is and some stupid cause of death. People assumed that all the kids were dead and their bodies waiting to be found. They never found you, nor you and some others... " he said pointing to 4 and 9

"...But they found you" he said pointing to GMN-1

"If they found her then we couldn't be the same person"GMN-1 simply stated

"The day they did, your parents broke up. Now most people saw it as extreme reaction to the death of a loved one. Some people thought to give it time, some thought it unusual. This woman... " he said bringing a photo out and dropping it on top. GMN-1 was taken aback by the picture. She looked familiar and had blonde hair like her.

"This woman... " Williams continued

"Julia Martins" GMN-1 unconsciously said and they all looked at her. This was the woman that put her hand on the girl's shoulder when she was playing the piano like she was insane. She had also seen the woman a few more times. She and the girl seemed to share a fond relationship.

"How did you know her name? " Williams asked

"I've seen her before. Continue" GMN-1 replied.

GMN-4 was taken aback. He could tell when most people lied especially her and this wasn't a lie. Technically speaking if 1 had seen her in the girl's memory then saying that wasn't also a lie.

"Well, she wasn't convinced and so dug up the remains without the parents permission and had it retested" Williams said

"The previous result was falsified" GMN-1 simply stated. Williams had to give her credit. She was smart.

"Now why would parents falsify the death of their only child? The remains matched one of the missing children and that was where the real trouble began. People began to speculate... "

"They had a hand in it"GMN-4 said

"They knew where she was" GMN-9 said

"They didn't want her found" GMN-1 said

"Exactly" Williams said looking at the three of them. They were really smart.

GMN-1 stood up. " Okay, I've heard enough! Time to bring you in" she was still wondering how she got wrapped up in this, way too many information which she couldn't authenticate.

"You don't believe me? "Williams asked

"No"GMN-1 said

"You've been my obsession for quite sometime and then poof you disappeared. I've searched for you and couldn't find you and suddenly you appear in front of me" Williams sounded bewildered

"I can't believe I'm listening to this" GMN-1said running her hands through her hair.

"I don't know what they did to you all but you must have memory of some sort" Williams said running his hand through his hair. GMN-1 starred at the guy. He reminded her of something she couldn't quite put her fingers on. She pushed it to the back of her mind.

"Let's go" GMN-1 said. The others looked at her, confused.

"You have to listen to me. I may not know about others but I know a lot about you. I have been researching a group know as 'the order of thirty' and I think they have a hand in what happened to you all."Williams said

GMN-1 had a flash. She saw a file written confidential on top of the table. The title read 'the order of thirty'. Her head was beginning to buzz. She backhanded the man and he fainted. For an unknown reason she felt guilty. Uh! This man was muddling her brain.

"I'm tired if hearing this man speak. We need to go" she said again

The two guys looked at her like they didn't understand what she said.

"Are you sure, you want to hand him over to Doc? " GMN-4 asked

GMN-1 ran her hands "We don't really have a choice." She said

"Why are you both contemplating this? " GMN-9 asked

"There are a lot of things you don't know" GMN-1 said like she was distracted. GMN-9 scoffed

"I'm not stupid, just because I don't talk" GMN-9 retorted. GMN-1 fixed her intense eyes on him and he gulped, taking one step back.

"Go on! " she demanded

"You are scarring him" GMN-4 stated noticing the change in her. She was clearly having internal struggle.

"I hear things. People in the facility have been talking. They say they don't know what was done us. That they knew some of us and that Doc and Deccan have a bigger boss, among other things" GMN-9 said

He didn't believe the man but what he said started to make sense when he recalled all the things he had noticed and heard. He was not saying that he believed the man, there could be a better explanation that may turn out truthful but this was all they got for now. He wasn't sure that handing him over Doc was really smart.

"Leaving him is more risky. If we return without him, Doc might issue a death warrant. Doc clearly needed him for something that was why she wanted him alive, she wouldn't be in a hurry to kill him. Moreover she doesn't like getting her hands dirty" GMN-1 said

What she said made a lot of sense. GMN-4 grabbed the man and placed him on his shoulder like he didn't weigh a thing and proceeded them out. GMN-9 disabled every survelliance camera in the building while GMN-1 arranged the information she gathered into two groups. They both followed shortly after 4 with GMN-1 locking the door. She grabbed 9 by his clothes and said

"This conversation is not over! "

He nodded his head and followed her. May be he shouldn't have said anything but it would have been unfair. He sighed. They were treading in dangerous waters.

They got to where they parked their car and GMN-4 dumped Williams at the back, frisked him and tied him up nicely.

"Get in the back, I'm driving" GMN-4 instructed 9 who obeyed and they all got in.

"So what do you plan to do? " GMN-4 asked.

"What does it look like I'm doing? " she asked wearily. Her head was full to over flowing.

"We can't ignore the fact that what he said makes sense " GMN-9 chipped in.

"So basically you are telling me that we are among the thirty children that went missing. Have you actually considered what that would mean for us? " GMN-1 said

They both looked away. She rubbed her forehead and continued

"We can't feel pain, we can run faster, see clearer, hear better, stronger, agile, oh and don't forget the latest, invisibility and other characteristics we are yet to discover. We can basically do thing an average human cannot do" GMN-1 said

GMN-4 pulled over and stopped the car and then turned so he could be able to see them clearly.

"I believe him. You and I can both tell when people are lying, I don't know how but that is it. You have considered the possibility of this not being true and I'm also aware that you have considered the possibility of this being true. So far the consequences of it being true is greater that is why you are choosing to not believe. The truth has a way of showing up whether you believe or not. I suggest you do not make hasty decisions until you are convinced beyond reasonable doubt. In the mean time we'll bring him to Doc and keep an eye on him, OK? " GMN-4 said

"Sounds like a plan"GMN-1 replied

"Where does that leave me? " GMN-9 asked

"It depends on you" GMN-4 said calmly. There was an underlying meaning in his words. GMN-9 swallowed

"I'm with you guys. What about the rest? "

"3 and 6, don't know about 2 but definitely not 7 and 5" GMN-1 replied.

"Why am I not surprised. 2 will come around" GMN-9 said with a small smile like he knew something he wasn't telling.

"You said you hear things" GMN-1 said. It wasn't a question mainly to continue from we're they stopped.

GMN-9 narrated the things he heard in details and his suspicions. He was really glad he came with them on this mission, he was pretty tired of keeping it all to himself. He needed help in ironing things out and he was glad he wasn't the only one who thought something weird was going on there.

The car phone beeped. GMN-4 pressed the button and they heard Deccan's voice.

"GMNs get back here! "Deccan said and disconnected. They heard the urgency and panic in his voice. GMN-4 accelerated.

Doc was pacing her office thinking on how to get her hands on that box. She could totally believe she was sabotaged by a member of the order. She should have carried out her plan long ago. She should have used the GMNs to eliminate all the members of the order and create a new order with her as the president. She already had candidates for her surbodinates. She would do both. She was going to get that box no matter what it takes.
