Chapter 59

Morgan was sitting in his office chair sending a reply to someone when he received a message. It was simple, straight to the point, commanding even, and from a secured source.

Let's talk.

"Barry!!!" He yelled for his newest assistant.

A red-faced, skinny young adult stumbled into the office with beads of sweat on his forehead. Barry knew his boss was a dangerous man and had been in a bad mood all morning.

"Tech! Now!" Morgan yelled as he replied to the unknown person on his phone.

Barry stumbled out as fast as he could without even replying. The others had abandoned him when they noticed their boss's mode.

Who are you? Morgan replied to the person

There was no immediate reply. His mood deteriorated more.

"They are here sir" caused Morgan to look up. Barry had brought every member of the tech team including the department manager.

"Hook it up. Identity! Location!" He ordered and they set to work.

They went to work setting up a station at the far end of the room while he watches their progress. He noticed their increasing uneasiness and panic.

"What!!?" He roared and startled them

"Sir...sir" the manager began. How could he explain that they got nothing?

There was a text chime from his phone.

"Put it on the screen!" He said as he signaled his security to come in.

They filed in and stood at alert behind the big screen. His head assistant was beckoned to stand behind Morgan. Even he had run away leaving the kid to his death and now he was thrown into the middle. He swallowed and walked forward and stood behind his boss. They were usually on good terms but not when Morgan was in this mood.

'Smiley face'. Nice try.

The message read. Morgan was getting pissed. He wasn't in the mood for games.

There was an incoming call.

"It's a video call" the manager mumbled

"Set it up!" Morgan commanded

When the call was picked up, Morgan was surprised to see the person at the other end.

"Missed me?" Was the first thing she said with a pout and Morgan burst out laughing.

The switch was terrifying and some people in the room nearly had a heart attack. Morgan's head assistant was the most surprised. Just two words from the girl had their boss's mood doing a 180° turn. Curiously they watched the person on the screen. A stunning redhead with an intimidating yet mischievous glint in her eyes.

"You know I did baby girl. Took you almost a year to contact me" Morgan replied

If his reaction was a surprise, his reply more so. His head assistant mouthed to the tech manager

Find her!

If she had such a positive effect on the boss within a few seconds, he was going to kidnap her and keep her by his side even if it meant forever.

The GMNs watched the screen as a handsome brown-haired man came on. He looked older than any of them and had seemed angry at first then had burst into laughter at the sound of GMN-6's voice. Talk about mood swings. The man behind him looked startled as well while GMN-6 looked well, a variety of things.

His reply threw them for a loop and GMN-3 couldn't help the slight frown. The man behind made it worse when he mouthed 'find her' to someone outside the range of the camera. The man wore an expensive suit and looked to be in a well-furnished office that spoke of affluence. Maybe he could help but can he be trusted?

Both sides continued to pay attention to the conversation.

GMN-6 gave a small smile, calculating how to plan this for maximum outcome.

"I finally did, didn't I?" GMN-6 asked. It was unsure if she expected an answer or if it was a rhetorical question.

The man smiled and leaned back in his chair.

"You did, that means you must want something," he said calmly. His facial expressions didn't flicker.

"You're smart" GMN-6 stated

"You don't stay this rich by being stupid."

"I do want something from you but then are you capable of giving me what I want?"

"Finally a straightforward female. No pretense. What do you want"

"A house" GMN-6 stated. The man paused before he repeated what she just said. She waited for him to finish his thoughts and respond to her

"You want a house" wasn't a question, it was more of a statement

"Not just any house, one with lots of space inside and outside. Firm structures can be renovated and a bit private" GMN-6 stated.

Morgan looked at the woman or should he say girl, he still had questions about her age but he was generally impressed. Most of the females he met either feared him or were out to exploit him. He couldn't exactly classify her into one of the two. The first time she's contacting him and she asks for something. Not just asking but demanding descriptions of what she wanted but somehow he felt and knew this wasn't exploitation. She wouldn't have called if she didn't need them and very probably from him.

Morgan's workers were suspicious, who was this woman talking to their boss and why was she so bold to demand not just something but a house with descriptions? She was straightforward forward though going straight to the point without the usual subtle maneuver they expected.

"Do you have any other preference?" Morgan asked

His assistant's jaws dropped.

"Do we?" Morgan watched her ask someone in the background and when she got a response gave him her attention. "Up to twelve or more rooms with enough power and water supply. The rest we'll figure out"

Now he was curious." we?"

"Yes, we. Do I look like a lone wolf?"GMN-6 asked

Come to think of it. Although she appeared alone that day, she didn't give the impression of a loner. Social yes, vivacious, crazy but not a loner. This made him curious to know the 'we' she was referring to.

"Describe the 'we' you are referring to," Morgan said after a while

"Males and females, are you changing your mind?"

"I have no problem with giving you a house, houses even. I just don't know your company"

"You don't know me"

"I have great instincts"

"Just a little girl you can deal with" GMN-6 stated. Morgan paused. That was the reason he wasn't bothered at first. She intrigued him and he felt that he could handle her if it ever came to that and with her alone, he doubted it would come to that.

"I do not know them," he said again

"I do"

He seems to contemplate for a while. She did do him a favor once. Killing the man he couldn't physically kill without complicating issues. This way she'd be closer. He doubted she was out to kill him and forming a tie will guarantee a certain level of immunity.

"Fine, when do you want it?"

"Now"

Demanding little creature. He smiled.

"I would have to show you..."

"Address and blueprints would suffice"

"Very well but I do expect to see you. You owe me that much"

"Till then" and she severed communication.

They watched their boss smile to himself. The young lady was very interesting, to say the least, and their boss seemed to be very interested. This was dangerous.

"Prepare the property recently purchased. I have a feeling she will like it" Morgan said to his head assistant

"Sir?" The man answered confused. He can't just be serious. They spent a lot of money, effort, and time to acquire that property and he wants to give it as a present to some estranged interest.

"Do I need to repeat myself?" Morgan asked dangerously. His mood seems to be reverting to its previous state

"Sir, she could be a decoy or worse an assassin out to get you," the head assistant said hastily

"She's an assassin alright but she's not out to get me at least not right now and I intend to keep it that way" Morgan replied as he got a text on his phone. It was an email address but he doubted it belonged to her. He smiled. This just got exciting. He wasn't sure what he wanted from the little red but his interest was expanding by leaps.

Back at the facility, GMN-6 turned to face the rest.

"So?" She asked them

"Where exactly did you meet this man?" GMN-2 asked

"Club, solo mission, why?"

"He doesn't look like the kind of person you should be entangled with," GMN-3 said and 5 scoffed.

"I know right?" 6 said mockingly

"He looks enamored" GMN-2 stated

"That's his problem. Once he sends the location, we need someone to check it out." GMN-6 said

"We also need credits. we can't keep asking people for favors" GMN-7 said

"Doc had a stash of credit cards in her office," GMN-5 said

"You do know we've not talked about your liaison with doc. We are going to need every detail from you" GMN-2 said

GMN-5 had the decency to look guilty but it quickly vanished.

"I have no more to say than any of you" she replied

"Look around, Doc's not here but we're still here with you. I think you should reevaluate your loyalty" GMN-2 said

"That's by the way. There is stuff here we can sell for money but how do we do that without..." GMN-6 said

"Leave that to me," GMN-9 said

"I didn't peg you as the business-minded type," GMN-7 said to 6

"Me neither. I just love money. Let's get this show on the road" GMN-6 said and they all turned to look at 4

"Your acquaintance just sent an address," GMN-9 said

"That was fast," GMN-3 said drily

"I and 7 will go check out the house and give feedback, 2 and 5 check out all the offices and see what you can find, 6 and 9 figure out how to sell some stuff we won't need. Please do not sell any heavy equipment we can't afford to replace and no personal stuff." GMN-4 said

"So what exactly can we sell?" GMN-4 asked

"Whatever it is pass it through 2," GMN-4 said and then turned to 3. "We might be leaving sooner than we expect. Every file and every machine should be accounted for. Make a copy and show Dr. Stone. The older Mr. Stone may be of help so do your best to keep him alive" he hated the fact that they had to resort to the very person whose blood they should be after.

Everyone nodded and GMN-4 turned to go.

"Are you sure you are okay to go?" GMN-3 asked

"I'm fine. I'm not dying just yet" GMN-4 said with so much conviction.
