The Lu mansion

Ying Xuan bought breakfast for all of them and the three met at the main gate of the campus, and proceeded to Lu Zuan's house.

The Lu family was probably expecting them, a servant opened the door upon first ring and bowed courteously to them.

He then led the three to the living room, where Mrs. Lu was sitting drinking tea.

She smiled as Xuan entered first. Her smile faltered a bit as Su Shaoyan entered behind Xuan, but it was back by the time Shi Weiwei entered. Weiwei looked uncomfortable as the servant offered to take their bags.

Xuan shook her head at the butler before she bowed to Mrs. Lu.

Mrs. Lu smiled as she stood up and walked towards Ying Xuan. Though Mrs. Lu was getting along in years, she was still very elegant as she exclaimed, "You must be one of the twins of the Ying family!! My my! You really are a sight to behold."

Xuan blushed a bit upon receiving the compliment and bowed. "But it's a shame about your voice. Your sister isn't dumb, is she?" Mrs. Lu continued.

Ying Xuan smiled uncomfortably and signed, "No. Xi can speak perfectly." Mrs. Lu looked at Su Shaoyan as he translated Xuan's sign.

"Oh hello. You're the kid from the Su family right?" Mrs. Lu said.

"I'm Su Shaoyan." Shaoyan replied with a smile, "And this is Shi Weiwei." he added as Weiwei bowed awkwardly.

Mrs. Lu chuckled awkwardly and said, "I have to say, Zuan has made quite a set of friends."

"Yeah, they're all misfits. Like your daughter." Lu Zuan's voice was heard from the stairs as she came down. "And if you don't mind now mother, we're going to study." she said and motioned for the three to follow them.

Ying Xuan mouthed something and Zuan added, turning to the butler, "Leo, send a few bowls, plates and chopsticks to my room. Come on guys." saying this Zuan headed back up.

The three children in the living room also climbed the stairs, Ying Xuan giving Mrs. Lu an awkward smile and Su Shaoyan dragging Shi Weiwei with him, who had been acting weirdly ever since entering.

Lu Zuan sighed as the three entered her room, "I'm sorry guys. My parents are. . . ." she struggled to find an appropriate word.

"Old fashioned." Su Shaoyan completed her sentence for her.

"Yeah." Zuan said in a small voice.

'Don't worry Zuan. I know she didn't mean anything bad.' Ying Xuan signed.

"Yeah." Zuan's voice was still small. "Anyway, welcome to my room, the only place I can be myself in this whole house." Lu Zuan said, motioning for them all to sit down.

"Weiwei? What's wrong?" Zuan asked in an uncertain voice as Xuan and Shaoyan sat down.

Shi Weiwei snapped out of her thoughts and looked around Zuan's room. It was a luxurious room divided into two parts.

One part could be seen to be where Lu Zuan lived. Her bed, dressing table and daily necessities were there.

The other part was essentially a study. It's walls were lined with bookshelves full of books and it had a study table and an extra reading table.

The room looked like a room of a five star hotel and was excessively clean.
