Bright sunny day, clear azure skies, pleasant smell of flowers, and the gentle breeze of the world. Everything to describe a perfect day for an unhappy sect.
It has been three months since Li Wei closed himself off for his cultivation session. This time, he put more effort into his cultivation for reasons unknown. Everyone was curious as to why a young child who can't even cultivate would put so much effort into doing something that will be a waste of his time. Since Li Wei's Mark acted like his dantian, nobody could sense his Qi. A Mark wasn't supposed to do that and there aren't any techniques around check how Qi a person's Mark stored simply because nobody stores their Qi in their Mark. It's unheard of. So far, only the Divine Sense of an experienced cultivator could sense his Qi level and Librarian Li has confirmed this.
Only in the third month did he go out, but to study a black panther. Many offered to go as his protector and he denied their requests. Now, it has been a month since Li Wei has been gone and no one has seen him since. Librarian Li told all of them that Li Wei came back two weeks ago to return his old manuals to get new ones and that Li Wei will come back in the next month.
Today starts the third last month of the year and it was time for Li Wei to come back. The Headmaster hid in the clouds and waited for Li Wei's return unlike the rest of the disciples who were standing by the entrance gate. By the time it was late morning, everyone spotted a short figure approach from the horizon. He was beaten up, bruised, and bleeding. His usual neat hair looked like a wild mess and his clothes were torn in many places. There was also a limp to every step he took with his left foot.
Eventually, he looked up and smiled at his senior brothers and sisters. Waving to them, the fatigue overpowered him after many days of training and he fell backward. Everyone gasped at what they were seeing, but three females rushed to him at their fastest speed.
"Wei'er!" one of them shouted. When they were near him, they saw their father pick up Li Wei and feed him a pill.
"He's okay now. All of his injuries should be gone by tomorrow. All he needs now is some rest," the Headmaster said. Carrying his adoptive son as gently as possible, he started flying. "See you all at home. Make sure to come to lunch on time. Your mother is already angry at Li Wei for his reckless behavior. Do not make yourself the target of her fury. I'll try to ease the situation." He sighed as he began talking to himself. "It's just my luck to pick up another troublesome kid. My first three makes me worry about them enough and now my obedient fourth decided to become hasty and mischievous."
As he expected, his wife was beyond furious. She had to be talked down into staying home and taking care of Li Wei so that she didn't go to the Beast Forest and slaughter everything there. The Headmaster was more worried about the Librarian than his wife. He knew that the Librarian is the secret ace of his sect and he saw the bond he had with Li Wei. Every once in a while, he could sense Librarian Li check up on Li Wei throughout the day and unconsciously release Qi that started to destroy the surroundings. It became so bad that two other people that the Headmaster recognized as the Sword Saintess and Frost Monarch had to come to pacify him.
Shocked was a word to describe his emotions since he learned about Elder Li's family. To think he had such connections was ridiculous to him and what gave him a bigger headache was that Li Wei's connection to the librarian. The kid has a bigger background than any young master out there and he didn't even know it. Quietly approaching the guest room, he saw his wife holding Li Wei's hand and was supplying Qi while she was in mother mode.
"Stupid! Idiot! Arrogant! Unfilial! How dare you not listen to me! I told you about the dangers of Beast Forest and you still went! How dare you not listen to me!" she huffed. "Why do you not understand how much you make me worry! You don't even have a Mark and you are way too young to go to a place like that! Just you watch. Once you start cultivating, I'm going to imprint your Qi signature into my very being so that I'll know everything you do! I'll see how you sneak off then!!" Headmaster Wei started to sweat from hearing his wife.
"She wouldn't really do that. Would she?" he wondered.
"I know you're there so why don't you just come in already," she stated. Headmaster Wei entered the room and took a seat next to his wife.
"You don't need to supply him with Qi. I already gave him medicine." She shot him a glare.
"You think I don't know that? I'm just making sure he heals completely. It's extremely strange though. His body seems a little too strong for a five-year-old. He also has an unnatural recovery rate."
"Yeah. I noticed that too. Maybe he has a bloodline we don't know about? Perhaps his parents passed down something to him."
She rolled her eyes. "Are you being dumb on purpose today? Any bloodline warrior will always notice another even if it is diluted to the point of nonexistence. I already checked him. He's pure human. There is not even a semblance of any bloodline in his body unlike me." Her expression changed when her last sentence left her mouth.
"Wait. That makes no sense. There is no such thing as a pure human. Even I have a little bit of the Thunder Beast bloodline while you have the complete Fire Dragon bloodline. It's not possible to be a pure human these days. Maybe in the Dark Era, but definitely not now."
"I know..." She observed her sleeping son. "It seems that our son has more secrets than we originally thought. Just who is he?"
