BLOCK-5, BUILDING NO.08~
The doorbell rang for the third time. MinJun drowsily got off the bed and walked towards the entrance door. He unlocked the door to welcome the early morning guest whoever the person was.
On seeing the unwelcomed guest the muddlehead MinJun sobered up. The remaining ounce of drowsiness rolled up it's pants and quickly ran off. The short chubby lady on her fifties stood outside the door resting both of her hands on her waist.
"Hello~Sleeping beauty, MinJun.When are you moving out, hmm?"
The old lady asked with her lips upturned in an evil smug.
"Morning! Landlady. Would you like some tea."
The offer made by MinJun was firmly rejected instead the old lady stood at the same place now her arms folded infront of her bosom.
"Pack up your things. You are leaving this evening."
Listening to her, the calm demeanor well maintained by MinJun collapsed like a building struck by an earthquake.
"Landlady~please have mercy. I haven't found a new place yet and this poor self cannot afford a high pay."
In his state of panic MinJun spoke hurriedly. His words came out jumbled and bumbled. The oldy lady unfolded her arms exhaling a short breath.
"MinJun. Dear boy.It has been five months already. You haven't paid the rent. I can understand your problems but had I not given you enough time. This time trya understand this old lady, okay. I too am in difficult position."
The old lady soften her tone as much as she could and spoke to MinJun like a grandparent would to their grandchild. She fetched out a small piece of paper from her pocket and gave it to MinJun.
" I am not an evil woman. Here~This is your new address. The owner had moved out for ten years now. Although it is a one storey building and little shabby you can make do after cleaning it thoroughly."
MinJun was gratified towards the lady but the history of his soon to-be home scared him a little bit. Vacant for ten years--this made him somehow puzzled.
But it wasn't the most important problem here.
"Uh...The rent?"
MinJun, for these past few months was living a life like a beggar. It was his sixth job that he had lost recently. Until he found a new one the savings must be use thoughtfully.
"Ai~Ai~Here is the second good news for you. There is no need to pay the rent. Yeah. You heard it right. No rent and you can live there as long as you wish for."
Although the generosity of his new land owner made MinJun want to hug and kiss the back of their palm but it also made him terrified. There is no such as free meal. And if it is there then it has to be something dangerous.
"No need for rent? Really?"
MinJun asked with unease.
" Yes.Yes.No need. The owner happened to be my childhood friend thus when she heard about my request she agreed to it."
"Landlady there really isn't any problem right?"
MinJun asked cautiously.
"No.No.Why would I lie to this boy? There isn't any...
The lady after a thought changed her previous words.
"Ah. I may actually tell you about the incident. Before,, my friend used to live there with her family of three but 10 yrs ago their only son died in a traffic accident. So she along with her husband left the city in grievances. They could have sell it but they were reluctant to part with their son's memories."
The old lady seemed to be reminiscing those days from her past.
She pulled herself out from her thoughts and continued.
" It's not a free meal though. It would benefit both parties. You would get a roof and they will get a house caretaker as a subtenant.
Hearing out the reason MinJun was somewhat reluctant but soon his excitement concealed his moment of confusion. Afterall to pay a low rent or to get it for free, of course the latter one was more tempting. So he agreed without a delay.
"Thank you very much Landlady."
After closing the door MinJun unfolded the piece of paper in his now opened fist.
BLOCK-1, HOUSE NO.03~
He dazedly looked at the address written on the paper finding it somehow familiar but no matter how much he racked his brain cells MinJun couldn't pinpoint what the slight familiarity was about.
Putting aside his doubts MinJun walked towards the bedroom and flopped on the soft mattress.
'Let's sleep for little longer.'
[March 2020]
Neon high school was the most prestigious and renowned high school in Block-1 municipality. At this time the closing bell had just rung in high tone. Teen boys and girls rushed out the school boundary. After all for most of the students the closing bell was the awaited moment.
Among the crowd of teenagers there can be seen a teenage high school boy with handsome features and drooling bodily shape. On his either side were two boys both of them in equal footing in their looks. They walked leisurely shoulder to shoulder. Other students couldn't help but stop to take a second glance in their direction.
Because of their extraordinary looks the school has crowned them as three male idols. Be it seniors or juniors , males or females, they were never tired being awestruck by their blinding beauty.
Too handsome!
But the subject of their speedy heartbeat were unaware of their deadly aura.....Edit.
Not that they were unaware but they no longer care about such trivial things. Being too handsome was a hassle.
Contatory to their face, their personality can be labelled as awful. The sunny boy to the left was Raven. A merry and playful boy. It was rumoured that in his five years of schooling he had dated forty...uh...if not then thirty girls for sure. But his every date lasted for less than a month. His highest record was eighteen days not a second more.
To the right was Keet. Opposite to Raven, Keet was calm and mature. He wasn't interested in any gender. His only interest was profit and money. Truly a pure genes of business tycoon , Mr.Bermin.
The boy in the middle was the cold prince of Neon, HaeSung. During his freshmen year many girls and boys proposed their heart to him but were send back crying everytime. This incident got him another nickname- the merciless prince. The aura around him alone says--Dare you approach. Thus, after the lesson was learned nobody was willing to step forward and let their heart get trample by the merciless prince.
Well~ There actually was an exception.
The 2nd year student from class B, MinJun. From his freshman year MinJun continuously pestered HaeSung with his love confession. For two years, his approach was never returned yet the boy, like a bug stick to HaeSung and made himself a clown infront of the whole school.
If his features were likeable, he would have been pitied by others but due to his barely passable looks he was mocked and made fun instead. And because of his never willing to give up behaviour he was labelled as a disgusting leech. It was also because of this reason he was outcasted by his mates and peers. A boy with average looks and low grades who wanted to befriend him--No One.
But it was not enough to crumble MinJun and his heart. It was not enough to stop him from carrying his fruitless actions.
Like today. A boy with his forehead covered by long thick bangs reaching down his black framed glasses was hiding behind the school garden tree. After the three male idols walked out the building MinJun headed towards them carrying a lunchbox in his hands.
"Hey~ HaeSung. Isn't that your leech. Disgusting."
Raven spoke in a distainful manner.
HaeSung looked along the pointed finger. There he spotted MinJun walking his way with a box in his hands. MinJun stopped at a mindful distance between him and HaeSung. He raised his hands along with the lunchbox and spoke in a stuttering voice.
"Hae...Sung...You are eighteen... today. So... This...."
Before be could finished his words Raven snatched the lunchbox and opened it without his permission. The box contained a out of shape chocolate pastry and some brown cookies.
"Hmm~So you prepared a gift, huh..Don't you know our HaeSung doesn't eat sweets."
After this remark Raven unhesitatingly threw the box into the nearby garbage bin.
"Or do you want to upset his stomach."
" No..No...I..I....do not..."
MinJun wanted to oppose the baseless accusation but he wasn't given a chance to do so.
"Move.Move away. Disgusting leech."
MinJun ignored Raven who bad-mouthed him but instead raised his eyes meeting with HaeSung's impatient ones.
"Didn't you hear. Move."
Haesung was angered and more impatient. Today was his birthday. His grandparents had promised to send him a birthday parcel. He was in a hurry to reach his home and unwrap his gift but now was obstructed by this little thing.
Listening to HaeSung's hurtful words MinJun disappointly hung his head low and quietly step aside. The group of three bypassed him. On the way Raven didn't forget to give MinJun a little push which made him stumble few steps further back.
Only after the shadows of three men was no longer in sight MinJun lifted his head looking towards the direction HaeSung left not long ago with sad and longing eyes. He gazed at the distance for a while and murmured under his low breath.
" Happy Birthday, my love."
