A wounded heart.

The brightness of the day break out cracking through the dark cover of the night. The gentle breeze swayed carrying the news about a new beginning to every micro as well as to a humongous being. The chirping sound of the birds felt both gentle and soft.

Early in the morning, the ringing from the phone woke up the sound asleep MinJun. He reluctantly reached for the phone beside his bed, took it and swiped the flashing green option.

"Sleeping beauty MinJun. Have you forgotten that you got an appointment today or should I bring the entire hospital building to your bed."

Said so the person from other end and it was also the first thing what he heard before he was wide awake.

"Keet. It is early. And absolutely no need to trouble entire hospital for such trifle matter I will be there on time alright."

"Suit you!"

The call was cut off. MinJun faintly lifted his lips upwards and eyed the disconnected call.

Heavens were cruel to him. He lost his family when he was merely ten. The death of his parents left him with a psychological trauma and later when he heard the news about the accident of whom he treated as his only family, it cause him to suffer from an acute depression. He even tried to commit suicide. If were not for Keet, who came in just time to snatch the knife from his hands before he could severely slit his wrist, he should have been dead by now. Afterwards it was also Keet who took care of him and helped him get through his suicidal mindset.

Sigh, now all of it has become a past story from long years ago.

From inside of a drawer he fetched out a pill bottle. He opened its lid and sure enough it was empty. MinJun chuckled softly. It didn't happen for the first time. Each time Keet would accurately know when he will be out of his medicines and that too before MinJun himself could know.

After their graduation MinJun took food as his major and Keet was a psychology major. Later he worked as a certified doctor in a mental health-care institution. As time passed by he became a renowned persona in this field. Sometimes MinJun would hear him say how he traveled city to city and country to country without a wink of sleep.Taking this account MinJun can guess Keet must have a busier life than a idler like himself and yet every month Keet would call him to remind about their appointment and squeeze a day-off from his packed schedule to personally treat MinJun.

For this, MinJun cannot be more grateful. In this lifetime, to be friends with Keet he sometimes want to rejoice his luck and thank heaven, completely forgetting the sufferings they had graced him with.

Ten in the morning MinJun arrived at the city hospital. Near the entrance gate he spotted a restless fellow who kept walking back and forth as if he was programmed to do so.When the figure saw MinJun walking over he halted his previous movements and stood straight crossing his arms infront of his chest and narrowed his eyes trying to look imposing as much as he could.

"Haha.Dear doctor Keet who are you waiting for."

MinJun deliberately adopted a teasing tone and looked right and left as if he would really spot someone there.

"Whoever. It wasn't you who is whole five minutes late. Any excuses."

"Not at all. Doctor Keet, I am really sorry."

"Hmph. You would be forgiven but if there is next time then I will withdraw your treatment."

Although being threaten MinJun kept smiling. It wasn't his first time being scolded by Keet.He wouldn't mind it as well because sulking Keet can be a true refreshment.

"Why are you smiling like an idiot! Come with me."

Keet took MinJun inside his work office. He made MinJun sit on the sofa and pour him a glass of warm water.

"How are you doing lately?"

Keet inquired worryingly.

"I am doing a lot better. And I wouldn't harm myself that time was an exception.Hey Keet can I not take medicines anymore."

MinJun asked expectingly. Ugh.Consuming pills day and night he must taste like chemical himself. And in his case he has an inseparable relation with these whatsoever pills. He was best friend with them. When other kids were playing with their new toys he was stuffed with those colourful pills instead.

"No you can't." It was a firm rejection that left no place for MinJun to argue back.

"MinJun your case isn't ordinary. Not to take pills, you need it to replace with familial love. It cannot be treated without filing the emptiness in your heart. And only warmth of your own family is capable to do so."

"Keet. I like men. How am I suppose to start my own family? It's not like you are unaware!"

MinJun became aware of his sexual orientation during his mid teens. Without a less bit panic he calmly accepted it and why not. Whatever he was like, at the end of the day wasn't he still himself.

"It doesn't have to be a woman. You can date a guy, adopt children. MinJun, Dead are already gone. The left ones have to move on. How much more do you want to suffer? And if you couldn't find a trustworthy man outside then I am stil-

MinJun interrupted Keet as he knows what will come after. Keet wasn't a bit wrong. Dead are gone. They cannot return to them again. This MinJun too understand it well but what about his heart. Who will make it understand this simple fact?

"I know you will make a good partner but Keet,I wouldn't. This thing over here. It has become hollow from inside. It doesn't beat anymore. It remained dead from long since."

Keet heaved a heavy sigh.

"This was my 50th rejection. Alright.Alright. What's up with this gloomy atmosphere.Hey I heard you moved out. Won't you invite me for a meal. How stingy!"

"En.Let's go to my house first. I will cook you lunch.Eat your heart's fill."

"Hmm..You better stick to your words. I have an appetite of three."

The heavy air dissipated with their light jokes. Keet grabbed his jacket and led MinJun over the parking area. They boarded in the car, drove to the supermarket, bought necessities and drove towards the direction of his house.

"Here. Stop the car. Okay. You can park there."

MinJun pointed at the small area nearby.

MinJun got off the car carried the plastic bags and excitingly walked to the door thereby failed to see the complicated face Keet wore.

"You live here." Keet asked with some doubts.

"En. Why?"

MinJun put the things they bought on the kitchen counter and started to search for a pan.

"Em..Nothing. Did you meet the owner?"

Keet pulled a chair and sat on it.

"Nah.It's like this. The landlady....you know her right...she was friend with the owner thus helped me to contact. They said no need to pay.Can you believe it!! Haha. But I am looking out for their house."

Keet did not know how to explain. Should he say the truth? Would that worsen his condition? This house belongs to that someone residing in his heart.

"Oh yeah! She said that the owner's son died in an accident...Hey. Keet. What happen? You don't look so good."

MinJun was worried. Wasn't he fine until now what cause his face to go so pale like a ghost.

"No. Nothing. I am hungry.. Cook sooner."

Keet thought it was better not to explain furthermore. What if he caused MinJun's emotions be unstable again.
