Chapter 16 Cultivation

Chen Fei woke up the next morning to the sound of Skinny P and Ida knocking on his door, before the sound of the front door opening and then closing left the entire dorm room in complete and utter silence. Only the faint sounds of shoes tapping against the ground and the screams from those who overslept entered Chen Fei's ears.

Said fifteen year old just glanced down towards his hands and feet, noting they still maintained their reptilian appearance.

"..... how the f*ck am I going to explain this", he muttered to himself.

Even by the standards of a Knight, let alone a mortal it was weird to have hands and feet that resembled a dinosaurs and not a humans.

Trying to explain why this had happened to him, and why they shouldn't just put him on the dissection table immediately would be impossible, especially if he mentioned "pure, unrefined monster and beast blood" and "Endless" in the same sentence.

"Just call it Boundless from now on Chen Fei.... And besides, its not all that bad, I mean, other than the fact that I look half lizard, I did get a new Attribute out of it?".

Sitting down on the floor Chen Fei focused his attention at the tiny spiritual wellspring in his heart. The baby Spinosaurus was still happily sleeping within it, passively absorbing some of the spiritual power Chen Fei gathered overnight.

The shape and colour of his spiritual power constantly shifted from its normal blue raindrop form to its small azure coloured tornado. Whenever Chen Fei's spiritual power took the form of a raindrop, it became much easier to manipulate, and much more flexible and durable.

However when it took the form of an azure coloured tornado, the absorption speed of spiritual essence from the external world to Chen Fei's spiritual wellspring increased several times over. In addition, Chen Fei knew that the speed at which his spiritual power could be utilised increased several times over.

These were the benefits of Attributes. They didn't just give a Knight a certain alignment towards a Cultivation Method or battle technique or certain fossils. It was the quality to which Knights attributed their spiritual power.

Those with a Fire Attribute possess spiritual power that is explosive, fast and devastatingly powerful. On the other hand, those with say an Earth Attribute possess spiritual power that is sturdy, unyielding and much more slower to use than say Water or Wind.

Usually most Knights possess one of the normal seven Attributes. Those being Fire, Water, Wind, Lightning, Metal, Wood and Earth. However, extensions of every Attribute exist. And extension of Fire would be Lava or Blaze. Water would be Ice or Steam. Wind would be something like Sound or Storm. Lightning would be Thunder or Light. Metal would be Gold or Silver. Wood would be Life or Flowers. And Earth would be something like Gravity or Sand.

The point is, is that every Knight's spiritual power possesses some sort of Attribute towards it. And generally speaking, it was impossible for normal Knights to even consider the possibility of getting a new Attribute.

"..... But with Kim Baek Hyeon's experiment, I gained the Wind Attribute..... Perhaps with more transformations more Attributes will be transferred from the monster and beast blood to myself? Unless I were to completely lose my human form, something like that wouldn't actually be too bad....".

Chen Fei let out a deep breath before glancing at the portable storage device sitting underneath his pillow. Said device contained all the information about Chen Fei, both pre-experiment and post-experiment and was downloaded from the computers in Kim Baek Hyeon's laboratory before Chen Fei destroyed it all.

He needed all the help he could get when it came to cultivating this completely foreign Cultivation Method, and wasn't sure if he needed to keep using mutated monster and demonic beast blood to cultivate. Since most of the data was corrupted, Chen Fei couldn't tell whether or not he needed more blood to keep cultivating. At least, for the short term, Chen Fei was more the 90% sure that he didn't need anything.

"Since the vial that Baek Hyeon gave me was supposed to last a month, I don't see why the effects would dissipate so quickly. Even with this physical transformation using the life force and spiritual essence within the blood, needing more so quickly would put a strain on Kim Baek Hyeon. And since he never planned on giving me another vial, I should assume that perhaps only one vial was needed as a catalyst to cultivate Boundless.....".

A lot of it was just assumption and conjecture, however Chen Fei tried to reason out most of his doubts about the whole thing. The only thing he was worried about right now, was being seen with his hands and feet in their current state.

The business card from the woman representing the 'Crooked Blades' organization was sitting on Chen Fei's desk.

It was quite timely that this woman seemed to pop up out of the blue just as Chen Fei needed help with something. With his recent meeting with Kim Baek Hyeon and the "coincidental" circumstance of him having exactly what Chen Fei needed, the fifteen year old was now a little bit more wary of complete strangers offering him their help.

This wasn't to say Crooked Jack would turn him into a dinosaur or anything, but Chen Fei much preferred his limbs and organs intact and where they were currently placed.

He let out a deep breath as he laid back down on his back.

"A Knight organization that gets certain jobs from the Three Big Ones. That would mean both the Holy Fossil Consortium which I'm contracted under, and the Imperial Fossil Mausoleum which uncle controls gives jobs to the 'Crooked Blades'..... and since they wouldn't give normal jobs to an external organization, it must mean they are either illegal, or perform missions outside of their jurisdiction. And since their jurisdiction reaches every corner of the Divine Tree Continent, it would be missions outside the Continent.....".

Chen Fei rubbed his brows in thought, trying his best not to give himself a migraine.

"That narrows it down to assassinations, kidnappings, blackmail, racketeering, exploration, the guarding of high-profile individuals and more than likely theft. To be honest I'm fine for everything but the kidnapping. And murdering kids. That's were I'd draw the line....".

Chen Fei let out another deep breath.

Trying to think about this objectively, the Crooked Blades could offer him the chance to not just control his transformation, but also potentially teach him combat techniques and battle techniques to use against other Knights and mutated monsters and demonic beasts. They could also provide him with information, potentially about Kim Baek Hyeon and the Imperial Fossil Mausoleum.

On the flip side, they could find out about his transformations and try to torture and dissect him to get their answers. If cultivating Endless using demonic beast and mutated monster blood weren't already known to them, then Chen Fei would give it to them on the basis that they didn't try and torture or dissect him.

He crossed his arms and scrunched up his face in thought.

"So, the possibility of getting a Knight organization to help teach me and make me stronger, but also the possibility of that same organization torturing and dissecting me..... presumably to death.....".

Chen Fei knew he had no-where to from here either than up. Either get no help and try to figure out how to control or undo the transformation by himself, or try to join the Crooked Blades and get them to help him.... and hopefully not torture him.

Letting out another deep exhale Chen Fei grabbed his Holy Library and entered the term 'Crooked Blade' into the search engine. Immediately Chen Fei was hit with a wave of responses, causing him to go wide eyed and grab his phone instantly, entering the number that Crooked Jack gave him.

"Ah? This is your friendly neighbourhood protection and assassination service how may I help you?".

Chen Fei couldn't even hide the smile in his voice.

"Are you sure you can teach me how to control my transformation?".

The voice on the other side was undoubtably the Crooked Jack that Chen Fei met last night. Even through the phone Chen Fei could still hear the suggestive tones that she tried to use on him last night.

She giggled innocently, as if a school girl in front of her first real crush.

"Little Fei, if I say I can teach you something, then no force on this Earth, mortal or immortal would be able to stop me. But you should know, something like this, will definitely not be free".
