The wind blew gently through the trees. Leaves fluttered and fell to the ground. I took in the calming scent of fresh flowers and nectar.
Last night, I had decided I would walk to the willow tree by a small pond. The pond was covered in flower petals and contained hundreds of tiny colorful fish. I loved that spot.
It was often that I dreamed about it. In the dream, I would slowly, slowly, wade into the pond until I was just above knee-deep. The tiny fish would circle my legs for a couple of seconds. They would then emerge from the pond as birds who would circle my waist and fly away. I would fall into the water, slowly, and wake up. Reality would welcome me with cold and wrinkly hands.
A chill ran down my spine. I let out a sigh and walked just a bit faster. My short black and purple high waist skirt with tight laces bounced with every step. Along with the skirt, I wore a tight black shirt with long sleeves and short black shoes with laces. I have worked at a bakery not to far from Auntie and Uncle's house for years. I bought this nice outfit along with many others because Auntie refuses to buy me nice clothes.
A smile fell upon my face. I had reached the willow and the pond. With much glee, I walked to the willow and sat down under it, my back to its great big trunk. Every time I visited the willow, I sang a song to myself. I learned the song from the dream I had often. The song played in my head as I fell back into the water.
The leaves in the willow will blow
And the river will continue to flow
Life will go on every ordinary day
Follow along, go and never wait
I'll share with you a wisdom pearl
When we meet in a different world
The sun will continue to glow
And the clouds will continue to snow
The moon will shine so true and bright
The stars will dance under its light
Take me with you, sweet young girl
When we meet in a different world
I loved the willow tree and the pond so dearly. So very much. Little did I know, I would soon find myself in a forest of willows and an ocean of fish.
