At the Qin Residence
Qin Jie has arrived home. In the morning, he was distracted by the thought of seeing the CEO of LY enterprises and wasn't super productive. Now, it is late in the evening and he joins his parents in the dining room for dinner.
Qin Jie has only one sibling, his older brother Qin Gui. The siblings are very close although Qin Gui has been out of the country studying medicine abroad for 3 years. Since he left, the atmosphere at the dining table lacked its original luster but there is is still familial warmth.
Qin Jie's father, Qin Liqin built Qi corporations through his own blood sweat and tears. Being born into a middle class family, he persevered to bring Qi corporations to its current glory. What the rest of the world doesn't know is that Qin Jie himself was never supposed to be the CEO of the company.
The position of the CEO was supposed to be given to Qin Gui, but he had decided to pursue medicine instead. Being supportive parents, the Qin's let him pursue his own dreams and instead called their son from military camp.
Qin Jie was already a Major General in the Chinese army when a letter came from home telling of the situation. Qin Jie immediately applied for retirement and took his best friend (and current assistant) Pan Huan with him. While reluctant to leave the military, he knew that the family business needed him. He went home and started the brutal training of the Qin family for the successor of the business.
Within the three years that Qin Jie had been in the CEO position of Qi corporations, the stock price raised by nearly 45% which is a crazy, unprecedented rate. It was only second to LY enterprises which improved their stock prices by over 100% each year - gaining respect from CEO's and business owners all over the nation.
Even more the reason that the CEO of LY was so impressive.

Back to the table
"Son, when are you going to bring home a girlfriend?" Father Qin wastes no time in starting the (nearly daily) interrogation of his son. All Qin Jie can do is not roll his eyes.
"I will get one when I am less busy." This is the constant answer he gives. Usually his Father and step mom do not press, however, today they exchange a look at one another.
"I think that you should consider taking a look at the CEO of LY enterprises." Father Qin says as he pulls out his own gold envelope. Qin Jie almost spits the water he was drinking out. It's amazing how much his father's ideas mirror his own.
Clearing his throat, Qin Jie looks at the invitation, the fancy swirly lettering of the theme and dress code, and then finally the person who the party is for. A smile unknowingly slides onto his face. This doesn't escape unnoticed by father Qin as a weird sparkle appears in his eye.
"Ah yes, the CEO of LY is going to show her face to the public for the first time. And she is only turning 25 this year. She is even more impressive than you, son." Father Qin teases.
"I know, she is amazing." Qin Jie has his eyes still glued to the letter as he talks in a trancelike state. The Qin parents snicker to one another and exchange another glance. They are both surprised at their sons reaction to the invitation.
"Well, we should get a heir soon, your father is only getting older and older." Xue Xiang - Qin Jie's stepmom says with a delighted smile on her face.
This snaps Qin Jie out of his reverie as his eyes move to the glowing face of his mom. His parents have been waiting so long for him to get a girlfriend or even bring a female home. At this point, they would be willing to accept any good woman into their family regardless of her background.
"Are you going to the attend the ball? If you don't, your mother and I will attend in your stead." Father Qin talks in an innocent tone, however, they both know the decision has already been made.
"I will be sure to attend this event. It is in four days from now on Saturday and I do not have anything planned on my schedule."
"Good. Make sure you dress well to impress the young lady. I want a daughter to dress up and go shopping with!" Mom Qin quips and Qin Jie nods then smiles at his two foolishly happy parents.
Dinner continues in joyous conversations.

Lin residence
After showering off, Lin Ya looks through her walk in closet for an appropriate dress for the party. To be honest, she is nervous about her first impression to society. Fan Mei keeps pushing her to go shopping but Lin Ya had a different idea of a dress to wear.
Pulling the light turquoise dress from its bag, Lin Ya holds it up to herself in front of the full-body length mirror and smiles. She has found the perfect dress for the party.
